I took a 14 carat diamond ring there to see if they would be interested in buying it from me. They offered me $200.00 dollars. I was shocked as the appraisal value is $3,250.00. I understand that they have to make some money. But $200.00!! I had went to another jeweler and they offered me $2,200.00. Unbelievable. I have another jeweler to go to see their offer. I still can't believe it. Be careful where you shop.

When I cracked the diamond in my 1940's vintage engagement ring my first thought was to take it to GMG as we had a great experience purchasing our wedding bands from them. Robert took excellent care of us and helped make the insurance claim a breeze. He was very knowledgable and understood the importance of maintaining the original beauty of the ring. The shank was also cracked and they had to do a complete rebuild. He suggested we make it thicker so it would last longer in the future. We were hesitant to have any work done to this unique piece but it turned out beautifully! The welds are seamless! I had never picked out a diamond before and Robert was the perfect person to guide me. He is very knowledgable, friendly and was understanding of my needs and wants. The whole team was professional and lovely and they did great work. I'd highly recommend GMG, especially if you have an older sentimental piece that needs repair. The utmost care was taken. So I had bought a Michael Kors watch about 2 years ago from Spareparts, and now it is pretty scratched up can't even see some of then numbers. Anyway, I went back to Spareparts to get a quote on fixing the scratch on the front. They said they couldn't help me and sent me to the Bay. So I went there and they quoted me at $300 (the watch was $340 brand new). So I just left it since that is way too expensive. Since then I needed a new battery for my watch, so I stopped at Peoples in Lawson Mall. The lady helped me right away even though I didn't even buy the watch from there. Then she asked if I wanted a quote to fix the scratches as well. She gave me a quote for the battery and to fix the scratches, $100! I could not believe this. Peoples will have my business for a very long time. You have amazing staff, that give excellent service!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not happy. I received a Christmas gift from my boyfriend and we want to return it for a refund, as it wasn't my style. I understand the policy is 30 days to return, but you'd think (like many places), they would have an exception as it was a gift. I tried it on and put it right back in the box. We have the receipt. It is impossible for me to have known what the gift was until Christmas morning to decide to return it before the 30 days. We live 2 hours from the city so he bought the watch there in November as it is the last time he was there. I was told it isn't possible to have a refund after 30 days, even though it was a gift. Something along the lines of "after 30 days, can't be accessed on computer." Not good customer service. They keep the almost $400 and gain an upset customer who will never shop there again. Side note: I know now, it shouldn't have been purchased until the 30 days or less before Christmas to avoid this. (Even though we wouldn't have been in the city during that time frame.) But you'd think holiday season would be a bit more flexible to make people happy.

Everything about my experience lacks communication. The number on my watch fell off so I took it here to get fixed. They gave me an estimated time that included time to get an estimate. Today is about 6 weeks and I got the call to Pick It up. Just so you know how long it approx. Takes. I get they send it away to get it repaired but will definitely support local watch shops moving forward as I didn't purchase the watch from people's . What is grinding my gears right now is when they called to me to tell me my watch was done but my engagement ring was still getting worked on. It has now been 7 weeks. I sent it in before my watch. 1. The rep. Who helped me sent it in for an estimate which took 2 weeks. I have additional insurance on it.. she sent it to the wrong place because clearly it should have been worked on to begin with as I don't need an estimate. I was told march 19 my ring would be done. Called and nope! Just calling to tell me how much it would cost to repair. Why?? I have extra insurance. I thought I was getting answers and when they realized what happened they said they would have it expressed to the correct location to get fixed and should be done in 7 to 11 days max. It is now 12 days and when I asked where my ring was they said they were still working on it!!! It has now been 8 weeks!!! Because a tiny diamond on the side fell off. Poor poor customer service and NO communication.

I don't understand how difficult it is to properly communicate what will be happening with customers property. When you go to People's they have to "send it out" to get a battery changed. But they fail to tell that they are shipping it away to BC and then when you call after 2 weeks to find out what is taking so long and they get high and mighty attitude when you are shocked. When you call a week later, because you haven't heard them after 3 weeks. That attitude returns. You ask to speak with the manager, who is with someone, understandable, I didn't expect her to stop service the other customer. You ask for the number for customer sevice and the the employee with "I'm better then you" attitude, said the manager will give me that number and pits me on hold for 5 minutes. The employee could have come back to the phone and you could take my name and number and give me a call back when you are done with a customer instead of leaving on the phone for god knows how log. Also, tying up the line so other customers can't call in. So I hung up and now writing this review. This is not the first time I have experienced this type of service from this store or the company. Hopefully they can start to teach their staff to communicate with their customers and drop the I'm better than you attitudes.

I got engaged on Valentine’s Day and we took the rings in to get sized on the 16th of February , they said they would be ready by March 9th which was fine, we knew they would be longer because of the holiday weekend. However, they were not ready until the 13th of March , we called twice to find out if our rings were ready. Very disappointed in how long it took to get my rings back. Almost a whole month.

I waited a few days before I wrote this review to determine if the manager would call me about their error (no dice). I had purchased my wedding ring from Midtown Ben Moss sometime ago & it was time to tighten the prongs before I lose my stone. I popped into the store Monday & asked how much it would cost to repair. The kind employees were not certain & I was asked to leave the ring so that a jeweller could take a look & provide an estimate of repair (w/in 2 days). Promptly Ben Moss called me back Wednesday morning & left a voice message indicating my ring was ready for pick up. Puzzled & with a packed filled day, I went to the store later that evening & sure enough my ring was repaired without authorization. I was miffed with their actions & kindly asked the employee if it was common practice for them to repair jewellery when someone is just looking for an estimate to repair. She looked at the Ben Moss envelope with my information & they clearly circled "estimate" for the jeweller. The employee asked if I was okay with the repair price & I noted it wasn't the price but the principal of what they did. At that point I could of stood there arguing but at the end of the day I did not expect Ben Moss to just give my ring back. In addition with my 10 yr anniversary coming up, my ring holds a very high sentimental value & it was at that point where I felt Ben Moss Midtown held my "Ring for Ransom". NEVER AGAIN will I leave any of my jewellery with them & I highly recommend you consider the same before you are forced to pay any price they choose. A phone call would have made a difference in the ☆ rating.

I believe it was Bill who helped me and he was able to get me an accurate quote right away from the goldsmith and was honest about the repairs costing more than the jewelry was worth. I appreciate this honesty as it could have meant losing business for them. The rings have sentimental value though so I had the repairs done and they look amazing. Walked in at 10 am on a Saturday morning to have my medical alert bracelet repaired. I fully expected it would have to be sent away. Not only did they repair it in shop they did it right then. I can’t even tell where the repair was done. In addition, while I was prepared to pay they did it at no charge. By 10:10 I was leaving with my bracelet on my wrist and a smile on my face. I dropped in to get my ring cleaned, the sales lady told me that I was missing a claw, so she recommended that I get it checked out by the goldsmith as it was only $25 to replace the one claw... two weeks later I had to call them about it (apparently they had called once but there had been no answer), and I was quoted well over $200 for replating, removing and replacing all the stones (as they can't take heat) - which I was expected to pay for, and replacing ALL of the claws in case the goldsmith broke them while removing stones.... needless to say, I did not get anything done with this jeweler, and am disappointed that they tried to jack the cost up like that, especially considering the wonderful reviews I have been given by people I knew who have used them

I have been looking for a nice pair of gold earrings, and chose to try Bateman Jewellers. Why? Because I know very little about the purchasing fine jewellery and wanted to buy from someone I knew I could trust. This jewellery store has been owned by the family for years and is a Saskatoon household name. The next time I go in, I'll have Cameron help me go through my mothers jewellery and let me know what the value is, as well as some suggestions with regards to having a custom made necklace and earring set created in her memory.

Friendly staff, however I took my engagement ring in to be resized and was told they could and given a day it should be done. A day before it was supposed to be completed I got a call that the goldsmith had looked at it and that all the stones required new claws or else all the stones would fall out on the first wear if it were only resized. So a $50 resize (a small price increase from the website that hadn't been updated online) turned into almost a $400 job. I took it to three other jewelry stores in town and all said the claws looked in great condition. I finally took it to Heinrich's in Centre Mall and have been wearing it since with no issues, and had it fixed at a reasonable price. Friendly staff, but I won't be bringing my jewelry back again.

Went into the Hillberg store a few days ago, browsing the mall on a cold morning and had the biggest pleasure of meeting a beautiful tall British girl who I swear I thought was the model of the company! She offered me a beverage and we chatted for a long while she was so kind and wasn't pestering me trying to sell hard which most retailers do instead we just chatted and she tried things on me that she thought would suit me, I felt pampered, I wasn't planning on buying anything but the silver necklace from one of the collections just looked perfect on me plus I got a free pair of sparkle ball earrings that look like ice perfect for my daughter's birthday! I was humbled by the kindness of complete strangers today at the Hillberg and Berk Center Mall location this evening. I recently took a family ring to a large jewelry chain in Saskatoon to inquire about the cost of getting a lost amethyst replaced and any loose claws fixed. I was quoted the horrendous sum of nearly $900.00 on a ring that was valued at $400.00. Not having any intention of paying this ridiculous amount I decided to get a second estimate and took my ring to R. Powell Goldsmith. To my surprise and delight I was given an estimate of between $150.00 and $230.00 depending on how many claws had to be fixed or replaced. I considered this a real deal compared to my original quote. To my utter surprise and complete delight I received a phone call when the work on the ring was complete and a bill of $99.90 which included the tax!! The workmanship was A-1 and the 15 year old ring looks virtually brand new. I cannot tell enough people about this positive experience. I am so impressed with the value, integrity and honesty of this local business and highly recommend their services and workmanship!!

Purchased a women's engagement ring with wedding band, and a men's wedding band 11 years ago from this location. Yesterday the diamond fell out. And I spent 12 full hours trying every trick in the book to get it off. 10 years and 2 kids later, my finger has swelled to the point where this is a physical impossibility. I NEED my wedding set cut off, resized, and the diamond replaced. The rep i spoke with this morning in-store was zero help...told her i wanted it cut off today as we're from out of town and can't get back in before their repair shipment goes out Monday to Edmonton...ESPECIALLY with the winter storm approaching!! She danced around the issue and told me i should try again to get the ring off, this time with lube. Didn't offer to get the cutter out. Just stood there and said "that's all i can tell you" and basically waited for me to leave. It needs to be resized anyway! The claws are catching on everything, i can't wear it like this!!! 😠 I am impressed with the merchandise, but due to poor customer service I will not be giving this location the business of this repair work. Oh, and by the way...to not have any of those purchases come up in the computer after only 11 years is ridiculously poor customer service...normal people can't afford to buy nice jewelry all the time.

Terrible service. I purchased a gold chain that broke within 5 minutes of wearing. I went back the next day to return it and the only option I was given was to send away to repair (even though the receipt and website both say 30 day money back guarantee). After sending in for repair, we got the chain back and within an hour it just broke and fell off again, (without being tampered with or anything) this time it broke in a different spot. I tried to return it and get a refund but they refused because the chain was broken and not in original condition (repaired). I asked to speak with the manager and was told she was away for 2-3 weeks and my 30 day money back guarantee would be expired by that time. Very rude and unhelpful staff I will never make another purchase here.

Absolutely the worst experience of my life. I took my engagement and wedding rings back here to have them repaired after an accident. They told my husband they would contact us with an appraisals before the repair. After 6 weeks passed I had my husband call and they informed me that they had no record of ever receiving my over $40,000 wedding set. Livid and sick I called and the girl I spoke with was very casual and said they were looking into it but needed more time. That they would call me eventually with info. I asked what they would do if they didn't find them seeing as we had proof of dropping them off and her response was they would cross that bridge when they got there. I told her I was contacting my lawyer and miraculously they found my rings immediately. They offered to cover $500 OF the bill for my troubles and now 4 months later... I still am waiting for my rings. I will NEVER ship here again.

Was recommended here by a friend... I had high hopes that I had found a solid jeweller. Boy... were those hopes squashed pretty much instantly. The man who “helped” me had grey hair and was quite short. He made it seem as though the very basic repair I required was an incredible inconvenience. He was eye rolling and snarky to me from the get go and quoted me an incredibly exorbitant price. I took my jewellery and left... went to a reputable jeweller down the street and was quoted HALF.... seriously... half of what Rings n Things quoted me. The “store” is dumpy and the employee I dealt with was very tactless. Won’t recommend or return—ever.

It's really bad. Manager made us look that me and my wife are liars. My wife had her bracelet cleaned. When we got home there is some beads stuck in one of the charm. So had to go back the next week to let them fixed it. They had a hard time removing it. When they return the bracelet, the charm are missing stones. Wife noticed it. Talk to the manager about it and she said it was my wife's fault. I don't know how did they fixed it but for sure she damage it. It was really a bad experience to think that every pandora that we bought was from them. Terrible manager...

Love Michael Hill, but I hate this location. My brand new watch broke and the manager at this location attempted to fix it. It still kept falling apart. They refused to replace it.
