Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent. The big problem is that everything takes too much time. We've been there 2 times, and both the same. Today was the 2nd and the last time I go there, we could ordered after waiting 20 min, and didn't receive our food after an hour. We just quit angry and soo hungry... People are nice but overwhelmed, just too bad.

Come on, I live no more than 2 km from this restaurant and after 1 hour &45 minutes I ordered I haven’t got my food. Ganges have good food but delivery is a complete and honest joke. Are they still with just eat.ca? If so they should brand themselves as just starve.ca.

Worst restaurant experience ever. Everything watered down from food to drinks. Musty smelling. Even had a visit from a spider. Though bathroom fairly clean the walk there was tricky as you passed the kitchen and the linoleum floor very greasy. Very disappointed.

I was supposed to go eat at our regular Indian/Pakistani restaurant but decided to go here instead for the first time and I was not disappointed! Usually buffets have lower quality foods and aren’t well prepared but the food here is delicious. I love the environment and atmosphere, great decor and I like the glass windows where you can see the chefs preparing things. The price is also super affordable. This was a pleasant little find and I will definitely go again.

Very good ambience and food. They have very good art work on the wall, and beautiful decorations. We reserved for 12 noon and went in for a lunch (buffet), really exceed oir expectations. There are a good variety of vegetarian, soups, and meat to choose from. Really recommend this for groups of friends.

If you want really good quality Indian food with lots of different options and variety, avoid this overpriced restaurant. I went there for the lunch buffet, and it was disappointing to see how little vegetarian options were available, as well as to see that the quality of the food definitely doesn't match the price. The food was great, and cheap, and I got it super quick; I think I only waited like 2 minutes after ordering. For $10, you get a good sized platter with two curries, bread, and a piece of grief chicken. They also give you a jug of water. The only downside was the service. I finished my meal, then just waited at the table. The waitress passed me several times and didn't take my plate. I ended up going to the back to pay, and she asked me what I got, and honestly, I couldn't remember what it was called exactly, except that it had butter chicken. They should take your plate, and leave a bill or something on the table to ease paying.

5/5 - Being Indian, I would 100% recommend this place. One of the best food on the strip, can’t get any better in my opinion. From the butter chicken to the sizzler, to the lamb, you won’t be disappointed. The naan is very fluffy and melt in your mouth. They have a liquor license and it’s a must try. Only thing is that parking is not always easy to find.

Switched us seats when we were already seated because some entitled white couple wanted our table, and in the end, that couple didn't even seat there. Their excuse: they called in for reservation. Big deal, you got there after us, if you wanted a seat next to the window, tell the person on the phone you want that seat. Don't come and act priviligied because you reserve. I remember the food being good, but because service is the biggest thing to me, I'm not going there for a while. And to the couple that had us move, I hope you get your seats by the window forever, even after your death. 死老外! 快去投胎吧!

The food here is always delicious, and this is the place we always choose over the many other Indian options in the area. Definitely recommended! Prices are super reasonable and service in the restaurant is quick. However, on this visit the wait was fairly long for pickup (about a half hour). Also, we bought quite a bit of food (like $80 worth), and were charged $1 extra when we asked for sauce. The cost is not the issue, but it did seem silly.

Horrible, horrible, horrible place - steer clear of it; there's plenty of alternatives nearby. The food was mediocre at best but the service took atrocious to another level. They started off by being rude, impatient and grumpy - which all can be put up with. However, my patience reached its limit when the servers chose to seat a badly-behaved toddler elbow-length from my table. I had to endure high-pitched tantrums (so loud that they got the attention of diners seated at the other end of the restaurant), crawling on my feet and throwing toys near me. They have close to zero training in customer service and seem to have only been taught how to take your payment. Other reviewers have suggested that the owners keep the tips (illegal under Quebec law), which is a very plausible explanation for the service from hell. My entire afternoon was ruined in choosing to dine at this godforsaken place!

Amazing and affordable food in Jean-Talon area! It’s always busy and for a reason: this place is fantastic. The food is flavourful, fragrant and there are so many varieties. Their naan is soft and always warm and toasty. Service is nice too. I highly recommend this place for great Indian food!

Nice restaurant around the metro Park. Nicely located and parking is easy to find. The decor inside is cool with nice some nice painting. Staffs are nice. And motivated. Food is great from appetizers to dessert. And it is a "Bring your own wine" restaurant. I took the lamb and butter chicken. Very good. Definitely recommend this indian restaurant. Only weakness, clothes are going to smell curry :)

You should change name to 'No more Zaika'. They used to serve decent food but not 'anymore'. I have ordered several times with a hope every next time would be good but they always delivered uncooked, tasteless trash. Its total waste of time and a complete disappointment. Tip to the Mgt: You should first taste the food and feed Chef with the same food/trash. Anyways I will never visit or Order from this place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Overall it was just an ok experience. Our server was not helpful and didn't answer when asked how many dishes he recommended for us and if there were certain ones that were more popular than others. We ended up with two very similar dishes and were a bit disappointed by that. The pakoras we had as starters were delicious though. The ambiance was lacking - and although it's described as "minimalist chic" it just seemed unfinished. Not so sure I'd go back again :(

Excellent as always. Beware of 1 star reviews for this place. Notice names sound off, language is suspicious, as is the tone. They all mention jean-talon area having better Indian food and then if you click on their profiles you see they have only rated 2-3 other restaurants, all Indian and all around Jean-talon. Seems like competitors purposely trying to trash Kuljit. No one in their right mind would give Kuljit 1 star. This place is awesome and everyone in the area knows it.

First time trying this place and my boyfriend and I loved it. The flavours are tasty with a good spiciness. Service is excellent. The restaurant could use a little bit more decor but otherwise it doesn't really bother us very much. We ordered 2 meat talli which were delicious! I used to go to this restaurant almost every Saturday when it was located in Cartierville. I loved all of the Bryani and Curries. Now that they have reopened at the new location, I still love coming here. Me and my friends agree this is been the best Indian food in Montreal that we have tried. The new place is now huge and more upscale; it looks very nice now. There is no delivery unfortunately and be prepared to wait a long time for pick-up when making big orders because this place is always busy.

Before I write this review I want to say I have travel to Indian 2 times and also I love Indian cuisine. The food was not that great. I honestly had better near jean talon. I find hair in my rice. Overall I wouldn’t recommande this place. They say they just open up but service is not that great. Very disappointed :( Also the chicken and rice seem like they were cook from a old frozen meat left in their freezer for a while and rice put in the microwave!! It wasn’t fresh

I have probably been to every single Indian restaurant in the city. This is a good restaurant but not everything on the menu is great. The chili chicken is good for example, but the butter chicken isn't the best in town. The restaurant uses white meat that is bland and throws it in the MSG-filled (but delicious) sauce. True butter chicken should have its chicken grilled and then simmered in rich sauce. Overall, the food is worth trying.

The samosa had a light and thin crust and the filling had a well balanced dosage of spices. The sauces were the best i had so far. Nice vibe, ambiance _ our server was very attentive and knowledgeable able to help us choose. Too bad though they had a party in the lower level, and we didn’t get our drinks until very late-well into our meal. The onion Bahja, was nice but since they only have one deep fryer, you don’t get a clean taste_ also gluten promotes my asthma which it definitely was a problem after the meal due to this fact. My scallops & shrimp in curry sauce were perfect but the rice that accompanied it which came 5 minutes later, was dry hard and cold. That was disappointing since I didn’t check, and dumped it straight into my bowl. -the dish was better without it. Conclusion is kitchen/ bar management is poor. Food is great. So lots of potential.

I love this restaurant! Great vibe. Great food. Wednesdays is ladies night and its an amazing deal where you buy a bottle of wine between 2 girls and then the meal is included. Sometimes service can be slow. But always good. I would love to see more vegetarian curry options- they do have quite a few vege options. But other than the channa masala they are all dry. I love the candied fennel seeds when you receive your bill.

One of the most delicious Indian food we've had around here. Lots of flavors. And good quality/price ratio. Wasnt too crowded as we went after lunch hours. Not the most romantic setting but would definitely return.

You're in Verdun...not really known as a mecca for Indian food, so you have to take what you can get. Luckily the food here is pretty on the spot and tasty. If you want spicy, you need to plead for it, as most items are not spicy at all. Shrimp curry disappointed. Otherwise, very good stuff. The service is a bit hit or miss and can be slow at times. It's not a fancy place. Street parking only. Not wheelchair accessible.

It is the best Indian restaurant in this area, in my opinion. Very authentic tastes and not too expensive either. They have an extensive menu and very friendly staff. The downside is that the food was just lukewarm and wasn't spicy at all, but in their defence, probably we didn't specifically ask for a higher spice level. All in all, would surely recommend, even for those who have never tried Indian food before! (Ask the staff for suggestions. They have good tastes)

Absolutely amazing, reasonable and complete menu and generous portions cooked to order and delivered fresh and promptly. This place is extremely popular and service for eating in can be a bit slow and you may have to wait a while for a seat. They focus on getting the deliveries out quickly so that's the preferred method of ordering.

Great service and food. The 35$/person deal is worth it but the dishes that are included are very mild. Ask for some hot sauce on the side if you go for this deal and like it spicy. The tip is included in the 35$ deal so it is really quite reasonable. Probably the best service and ambiance I've experienced in an Indian restaurant in Montreal.

The food and service were excellent. Loved the options and varieties. Not too much and enough to satisfy meat eaters or not. The only complaint I have is I find it a little too dark. They need to add a little more light as it was difficult to even see some of the dishes!

Food was good but I found that it lacked a bit more spice, so felt a bit bland on my palette. Presentation wise everything was very nice. Honestly the place was good but what threw me off was the owner. He was berating his staff to do things but it wasn’t that busy. I thought the staff was doing really well and it just distracted me. They did a good job man!

First-time visiting, overall excellent! Ambiance was perfect for a date. Options are wide-ranging, portion sizes are very generous (relative to what other Indian restaurants offer), our waiter was attentive and friendly. It was a little on the pricey side but still fair considering the portion size and location. Their take on a samosa is simply a must try! One thing that I would like to see change is that most of the main dishes had little-to-no spice in them, which could be attractive to some but I think most Indian restaurant goers expect a little more heat from their dishes. Will definitely be returning with friends!

Highly suggest coming here with a group to get the experience of trying as many dishes on the menu. The food here was absolutely amazing, especially the lamb korma! One of the times I've visited a restaurant and shamelessly left plates CLEAN. A MTL must!

The food here... at Star of India... is so much better! Very fragrantly seasoned and generous portions. Excellent service ....without having to wait a long time. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Montréal! Kinda pricey but dude, you get SO MUCH FOOD D: It's totally worth the bucks! They are so generous with the amount of sheer veggies and meat and all the good stuff. I enjoyed every single time I went or got a delivery. The staff is sweet and attentionned. Go here, not the one on Saint-Catherine.

I was there with a client.Buffet was $14.95. $36 including tips for 2. Pea soup was good. Butter chicken was too sweet...tandoori chicken not fresh and dry. Naan bread was okay. Food in tray were not plenty despite the fact we were only 4 in restaurant to eat at the time.

This place was recommended to me by a chef in my workplace. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in the West Island. I've been here over 20 times and they never fail to impress me. The butter chicken is a must-have if you try this place out. It's a small family-run business which makes it feel extra homey. Delightful food and great service! However, it can become a little crammed if it's fully booked. As a caucasian, their medium spice is actually quite spicy. I definitely chugged a few glasses with my meal. I would recommended!

Everything a cozy restaurant should be. Where the food tastes homemade (never had better Indian food anywhere else) and the service is warm and friendly. Shoutout to Jay for the excellent stay. The hostess must be new because the place was 70% empty but everyone was seated all in one corner very close to each other. When we asked to sit at another table for more privacy, she said she needed to ask the manager. The manager was sitting at a table far away. Later they sat another couple 20cm right next to us - even though the restaurant was still 70% empty. So if you are looking for a private, romantic dinner, this is not the place. Also we were surprised by the portion size. The main dish was more like an appetizer size. It was like a kids meal - except instead of a whole meal for a kid, it was more like one dish. The last time I saw portions this small was when I was a kid. I’ve been to many Punjab restaurants, but this is the smallest portion I’ve seen. Also when our food arrived, the waitress asked if we wanted plates. We were surprised because what else are we supposed to eat from? Our samosas that came before, we ate without plates. And we had to reach over the table practically knocking our heads so that the food doesn’t fall all over the table. This restaurant is two or three stars max. Don’t believe the reviews that give it five stars.

I was very disappointed to finally eat at Punjab Palace. I had heard so many good things about it. Sadly the service was terrible. All the waitresses except for one were aloof, didn't even smile (specially the lady with very long hair). They got our order wrong, never brought us water and my strawberry lassie had chilli in it.... very disappointed. The food was good but the services was so bad that we lost out appetite...

It was snowy and windy during our short visit to Montreal so having dinner at the closest restaurant to our hotel was our first option. Fortunately that led us to Darbar, which was just around the block! The service and food were excellent and the place had a very cozy feel. Chatting with the owners revealed that they had a restaurant in Oakland for a decade before returning to native Montreal. (Coincidentally both restaurants were in/near Chinatown.) We returned the following night for dinner and will come by again the next time we are in Montreal. You should too!

I ate my Christmas meal here alone, and that might sound sad. But, it wasn't. Because here at Darbar I was served by some amazing people who fed me some incredible food. Everything here is very thoughtful and I would even say elegant. The space is very ambient- filled with cozy nooks were diners can sit on pillows to eat their meal, subdued lighting, and beautiful Indian textiles. The waitstaff were all amazing, very thorough without being smothering. And the food, wow the food. I asked for my dish to be prepared "very spicy" and while it wasn't hot enough for me, they still made it pretty spicy!!! The naan was near perfect, airy and crispy and covered in garlic, perfect for sopping up their amazing curry. Darbar reminds me of some of my favorite Indian food experiences from my 10 years in NYC, it's as good as almost anywhere I ate during that period. To top off my more than positive experience here, the chef came out at the end of my meal and asked me how it was. How many places does that happen at??? Not many. Darbar is a special place. If you want a great dining experience with delicious food this is the place.

Loved the food, decor and service. Hated the long wait to get a seat. Ordered the Paav bhaji, Vada paav and chaat. They nailed it, it's just how these dishes would taste back home. The tea was nice but could have been better if it was made fresh. Will be back for sure!

This is one of those gems that actually makes authentic Indian food, fresh homely food at that. I have tried plenty of Indian restaurants in Montreal and none come close to this one. The pav bhaji tastes exactly like it does back home (may be better even) and the rasam, chicken and everything else in the thali was spot on, as it is supposed to be in a South Indian thali. Try the rhums up too, you won’t be disappointed.

Initially was hesitant to check out this place as the menu said Indian snacks but WOW, I’m so glad we went. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful. Small so wouldn’t recommend for big groups. We ordered dahi puri, vada pav and the “bargar”. Food was SO delicious and amazing. We expected the chef to be south Asian but was very surprised to find that the food was cooked by a bunch of people who backpacked through India and learned the cooking style. Please open a restaurant in Vermont!! We’re missing some good Indian food here 😪

Great cooks, blazing fast service, Nice vibe. Tiny but cozy and you're always greeted with a smile. This little restaurant rocks. They have a completely different thali dish every week and so far I was never disappointed. Only one thing I would suggest to improve this otherwise flawless experience : naan bread!!!

A great spot for casual dining or a quick meal. For $10 I got a veggie Samosa and veggie curry with naan bread. The service was a bit confusing, as a first-timer, since I wasn't really given direction on who would prep my order and when I tried to pick it up at the other end the prep person had no idea of my order. I was also kind of just shifted after paying without being given a receipt so it was a bit of a shuffle around. But, now that I've got that down, I have to say the $1 veggie Samosa was super delicious and surprisingly generous. I would come back just to lunch on these again.

Not only is the food here amazing, but the people there are also really nice. It's also pretty cheap for what you get compared to similar places I've been. If you're in the area and are looking for a good place to eat Indian cuisine this is the place to go.

I have had a lot of different biryanis back home in India and in Montreal but this one was undoubtedly the worst... Not just in terms of taste but it also wreaked havoc in my body. Unless you want to avoid a fat lawsuit in the future from someone who falls severely ill from the food you serve, you'd better do something about the hygiene...

If I could I would give this place 4.5 because it was very good but not perfect (the papadum was very peppery, the place is a little run down...). That said, I got a very tasty and filling Indian meal for under $10! The naan bread was the perfect mix of crunchy and soft with just the right amount of ghee. The curry was flavorful and the salad was surprisingly good not the usual limp lettuce that other Indian places serve but a medley of peppers onions and vinaigrette. Definitely worth coming for a lunch thali or an Indian feast that won't cost you an arm and a leg.
