Completed Primary School with TCCE. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed bringing our puppy to class and learned a lot of valuable concepts. We and our doggy have just finished with the Cranky Canine Program for Dog-Directed Reactivity. The classes were taught by Caryn and assisted by Meg. First of all, they are just amazing people. Not only that they are caring and knowledgeable, but they are also always positive and encouraging. The program is very well structured and organized. The techniques that we were taught are based on positive reinforcement. These techniques are invaluable tools for handling our reactive dog. After 4 weeks of training in class and practices on our own time, we have already seen substantial improvement. I highly recommend this program for any dog parent whose dog has dog-directed reactivity.

The person who runs the orientation seems to know a lot about training puppy's. Very good demonstrations and great first class. He is pretty hilarious to. Unfortunately he will not run the actual classes. Teachers still good and seem to know what they're doing.

My dog, Beau, had been through basic obedience training. But at 2 years old, I was finding him generally reactive on leash, both to strangers and to certain dogs. After trying all the techniques I had learned in our puppy classes, I hit a wall. I was becoming more nervous when we walked, feeling like I needed to be hyper-vigilant all the time and to notice anything Beau might react to before he did. I reached out to Caroline and with one quick session, she restored my confidence in both myself and Beau. Caroline equipped me with clear techniques and followed-up with detailed notes we used to practice. And she reassured me that I was already doing well, I just needed to finesse some of my techniques. I noticed a huge change in Beau during the very next walk. We began enjoying longer walks, with less pulling, better focus and far less reactivity. I also feel like we developed a stronger bond as Beau seems more confident and he looks to me now instead of reacting. Caroline was warm, patient, clear and available. It really felt like she approached me and Beau as a unique case, rather than following a rinse-and-repeat formula. I felt that her assessment and advice were highly personalized for both me and Beau and that she really cared about setting us both up for long-term success. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Caroline for any challenge you’re having with your dog, whether it’s a minor tweak or a major correction!

She is very thorough in understanding dogs' problems before private training sessions so that she can provide solutions each dogs' individualized needs. She also follows up on training sessions to ensure that everything has worked out perfectly - not just one email, but rather constant communication. I am so happy that I enrolled my dog, Gilmore, in the "Never Too Late" class. He is a rescue and tends to be nervous around other dogs. The instructor of the class made it fun and informative for both of. His confidence has really grown since he attended the class.

We took the beginners agility class. Renée seemed very knowledgeable about obedience training and taught us some cute tricks. We did not use agility equipment much, except for 5-10 minures each class if we were lucky. My main criticism of the class and the reason why I stopped going after four classes is that the instructor spent most of the time paying attention to one particular dog, and kind of ignored the rest. My dog and I just stood in a corner waiting for feedback, and we rarely received any.

Doing the puppy classes. Small class size is great, so far it’s been effective for our dog. Most of the real work is done at home but they teach you how and help offer suggestions specific to your dog. The socializing is the best part, our puppy loves it! Also best value for price vs. other similar schools.

I took my puppy here for puppy class. When Hounds Fly appears to be an ideal starting place when getting a puppy but I disagree with their method of puppy interaction. Training sessions mostly revolve around food training which is great, but everything they taught can be found on YouTube. Periodically, the trainers would let 2 to 5 puppies off leash during recess. During this time the puppies will chase and bite each other which is naturally what dogs do. By giving puppies this experience at such a crucial age for socialization, it teaches them that it is okay to behave like this around other dogs. While it may seem okay for rowdy play to occur in a puppy class, it is not okay for dogs to do this in most other places like on a walk or at home. So it is confusing for a puppy if you expect them to behave calmly around dogs when the puppy experiences running and playing with other puppies. Obviously dogs are different so many dogs will do fine with this socialization. However, there are probably many owners who have experienced or will experience problems with their dogs. I am arguing this method of socialization is a factor to leash reactivity. Immediately proceeding the puppy classes, I noticed my dog pulling, lunging, and reacting to other dogs on walks. Proper socialization for a young puppy would be training on leash around other dogs but with no interaction with other dogs. Or finding a well behaved adult dog that will influence the dog through calmness. I am not against dogs playing with each other. But I believe it is more important to teach puppies to exist around other dogs before they play with each other. Especially if it’s an all puppy free for all. Socialization is exposing your dog to different stimuli so he can learn to trust you as a leader. Remember dogs learn by reward/consequence based experiences. So by rewarding your dog with high energy dogs who play fight, it makes your dog confused about boundaries around other dogs and can create unwanted behaviours down the road. This is similar to why dog parks are a bad idea. When Hounds Fly is a positive only training company that only teaches to reward good behaviour and to ignore bad behaviour. This does not work for most dogs. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Response to Owner: Puppies don't learn not to bite from 5 minutes of off leash play time with other puppies. They learn bite inhibition by owners giving consequences for biting. It actually rewards biting because the puppies are using their mouths and enjoy doing so. I agree dogs are capable of learning how to behave in different contexts. But if owners give their puppies the notion that other puppies means exuberant playtime, they won't simply understand themselves that on-leash means ignore other dogs. This is one reason why dogs are reactive towards other dogs - because they have had high-drive experiences with other dogs. Focus and calmness do not increase when puppies get to exuberantly play with other puppies - it decreases. Your puppy socialization classes do provide good positive reinforcement training, but consequences are not taught and young puppies (8-12 weeks) who are new to the world shouldn't be let off leash in high drive with other puppies new to the world. It leaves a specific impression on how to behave. Calm adult dogs will be a better experience for them.

Went for puppy socialization classes, and would definitely recommend for anyone getting their first puppy. I was given a comprehensive Google docs folder at orientation, and booking the actual classes was very simple. Our Frenchie was very shy at first to play with the other puppies, but warmed up quickly. the instructors were all so friendly and accomodatimg. They answered all questions and concerns. We learned a lot as first time owners, and it was also a great time to bond and learn with our new family member!

I would not recommend their classes to anyone. Teacher and her assistant were both rude, arrogant and demeaning to people. Very little positive reinforcement given, everything was negative or that was good but could be better.I was embarrassed more than once by the teacher and her assistant. Found myself dreading the classes. Will never go back and if asked will not recommend this class to anyone.

My dog is approximately 3 or 4. Teacher is knowledgeable but there are no solutions to those dealing with dogs out of puppy stage. The two assistant trainers could possibly not avoid eye contact any more when anyone is struggling. To my knowledge, there are instructors present for the benefit of the teacher and to offer insight and it seems they shy away from helping - for reasons I am unsure. The head instructor only ever uses a dog (as an example) who has not only been through classes before but is eager to please and is treat-receptive. The head instructor attemped after class to use tools taught in class with my girl, failed, and I was met with a shrug of the shoulders. I think this class is built for puppies, which I have had, but is a complete waste of money for older dogs. These classes rely heavily on a dog wanting to please for treats. This motivation, unfortunately, does not exist within all dogs. Also why does the indoor facility smell so strongly of pee?

This is a great training facility for you dog. I have gone to three classes with my dog and he is the best. The teachers are so great and hands on. If your dog isn’t getting something the will come over and help you out. They offer a lot of different types of classes.

Too many dogs in each class and the trainer quite dismissive - everything was an up-sell and for the quality of training - really expensive. There are better services out there for a better price but found out the had way after going to other training since this training a complete waste of time. Also the trainer told the class, after using my dog as a training example that failed that he was "just too social". If that is a problem - they didn't provide a solution. Even though it is a dog place - it doesn't need to stink like dog pee.

The socialization checklist was absolutely the BEST thing. Worth the cost of the class by itself. I share it with every puppy owner I come across that is struggling, and there are a lot of them. The location is a bit out of the way but they do have parking so that’s a bonus. The trainers are lovely and very knowledgeable but the amount of dogs per class is a bit off putting compared to other classes in Toronto at similar prices. In my class there were approx 12-15 dogs and trying to get my pup to concentrate was impossible so we didn’t really get much value for money. We did use the training techniques at home which was great but I prefer more interaction at class level.

We just finished our lessons for leash manners and it was the best thing we ever did for our boy Drax. Dusan and Livia care so much about your dog and having them succeed. They really teach you things that you can practice on your own. They have an extensive and wonderful understanding of dogs, their body language and emotions and they can help you understand what your dog is saying. We have a very obedient dog inside the house but outside on the leash was a whole different story. Now, we feel like we have a better understanding of our dog, and we have seen a huge improvement with on-leash behaviour. He used to cringe when the leash would touch him, and pull us around on walks. Now, he walks with us (with some improvement still needed with practice and patience) and the leash can touch him without him walking sideways away from it. We highly recommend Canine Rainbow. We had a positive experience at puppy classes. The first day of class our puppy was shaking and wouldn’t leave his exercise pen, by the end he wanted to play with the big dogs. I totally trust and follow Margaret’s cues as there are lessons to be learned if you listen, and its miraculous how she can soothe the class when everyone is getting hyper and excited. Margaret is very matter of fact, so don’t take anything personal. You will thank her later. I saw some reviews that weren’t so positive, but I truly feel she has the best intentions for your dog and I’ve never had that concern. Sometimes looking in the mirror hurts. Looking forward to basic obedience now that we’ve settled in after puppy school.

If there where more star options I would give them. I have been taking my bloodhound to Margaret at Dog Gone Right since her very first puppy class. It was important to me to find someone who would guide me and a stubborn bloodhound puppy to our end goal of search and rescue training and from the outset Margaret has been a wealth of knowledge and support. We have gone through the ranks from puppy learn and play and taken all obedience level classes, recall classes, and are currently making our way through the Sport Scent Detection levels with much success. Margaret's experience and development plans sets both owner and dog up to succeed and I couldn't recommend Dog Gone Right highly enough to any owner, big dog or small.

Our dog is a Labrador Retriever who LOVES life and everything in it and has struggled with impulse control and recall. Margaret and Blanche at DogGone Right! have been helping my husband and I with our dog since she was a puppy and we couldn't be more grateful. We have had a very positive experience with A Leg Up. From cat sitting, to puppy walks, dog boarding and dog daycare, we have worked with them for over 4 years. Their staff have been friendly, attentive and quick to respond to all of our needs. When we boarded our dog over the Christmas holidays, we received a number of email and photo updates and came home to a very happy and well behaved dog. Griffin goes to daycare twice a week and can hardly wait to get out the door when the van arrives to pick him up. When Griffin had behaviour issues, their staff was quick to respond and offer helpful suggestions and a trainer's advice. We are so grateful to A Leg Up for the excellent care we know our pets receive in their care. They give Griffin something to look forward to and us the freedom to leave him knowing he is a happy dog.

I had a number of problems with A Leg Up. First off, their consultation involved me filling out a form. The gentleman I consulted with did not even come to my side of the desk to meet my dog. I was not able to contact them through phone or email for my dog's entire stay. I worried about where my dog was and how he was doing the whole time (despite being promised updates throughout his stay). They dropped him off late but never made an effort to contact me to tell me that that would be the case. They did not review their own consultation form on which I noted that my dog does not do well with cats. They boarded him with a cat, leaving him on edge his entire stay. I received him in a very anxious state. He did not greet me enthusiastically and was not his usual affectionate self until much later that day. Heather, who dropped my dog off, did not genuinely acknowledge my concerns nor say she would take any action to address them. Their business "is not for everyone" she said. I say a business that shuts you out for the duration of your pet's boarding is for no one. I paid a lot of money for this service and expected a lot more in return. I sent a lengthy email to them reiterating my concerns and said I would be complaining about them online. I received a phone call within 30mins from Karen who acknowledged that what had happened to me was unacceptable and refunded my money. I was appreciative of that but will never return to this business. Their staff is obviously not trained and managed appropriately.

Amazing! The once shy and timid rescue we got a few months ago has really come out of her shell due in part to being able to learn from you guys and other dogs at daycare. Daisy loves it there! The walks we have used for our older dog Molly are great as well. It's so nice to know how loved our girls are. My Doberman Prince and I have been training at Gemini K9 since he was 3 months old, starting with basic training all the way up to Advanced Obedience 2. We’ve just graduated with great results thanks to all the help and support of Mark, who taught and guided us every step of the way. Mark is a constant professional who is highly knowledgeable and such a pleasure to train with. The facility is always clean, and Mark is always on time and accommodating to my schedule. Just finished 15 weeks of training here with our giant schnauzer puppy, Alfie! Our trainer was Joseph and he was exceptional. He understood the nature of the breed and tailored the training accordingly. We started with the puppy classes because Alfie was puppy biting a lot at first and we were concerned that we got an aggressive puppy but that was not the case. We were able to correct the biting with Joseph’s help, we then went into basic obedience where we were able to teach him many commands and with our constant handling week over week he is now the perfect puppy! My favourite part was learning the heel command, he walks so well with us now and he is 7 months. He is going to be an 80 pound dog and this was most important to us to be able to control him from an early age. Thank you so much Gemini K9, we will return for off leash training. Can’t wait!

I trained 2 dogs with Gemini on 2 separate occasions. Our trainer Joseph was excellent. He catered the training perfectly to my dogs and really paid attention to what I wanted out of training. He took extra time to respond to emails when my dog wasn’t responding to practice just to show me alternate ways of teaching her. This training is catered specifically to your dogs personality. Both my dogs turned out excellent and extremely behaved because of all the work we put in. Both of them respond to my commands at the same time.

We took the basic obedience class with our 10 months old pup. Excellent professional staff at GK9. Our trainer Mark is great. He helped us to become more confident and better handler. Now we have a better understand about our dog's behavior and how to manage unwanted behavior. Totally worth the price, highly recommend to anyone who would like to train their dog properly. We are currently taking the advanced obedience with GK9, and very happy with the progress!

I'm disappointed to see my review has been deleted, so I am re-posting. First impressions were quite bad- as I walked my well behaved rottie into the store, a staff member shouted at me - "If he pisses on anything, you have to pay for it!!!" In that moment I knew I wouldn't be giving them any of my money. My dog has literally never peed indoors in the three years we've had him. The trainer we met with was focused on selling us an eight week package that seemed better designed for a dog with no training. We were looking for some training to brush up on his skills - he has already had a lot of training. The trainer called him "reactive" when he is the opposite. Right before we walked in, we encountered another Rottweiler outside the store that flipped out, barking and lunging at my dog. My dog was completely calm and did nothing. That is not the behaviour of a reactive dog. I felt that the trainer was saying certain things in order to convince us to spend hundreds of dollars on training that was not needed. What we needed was a couple sessions but that wasn't even offered - only the $800 package was offered. She did give us some good advice, and is probably a great trainer, but my first impressions were poor and honestly I was offended at the treatment we got.

Definitely worth the price. Not only did our dogs walk away completely different (as they are much more obedient), but so did we. We now have a better understanding of how we impact our dogs and therefore how to to control them and manage their unwanted behavior. We took our dogs to a different training class before this and WOW what a difference. 100% recommend.

My baby has changed so much since coming here. She started off nervous, whining, dragging on the leash, and barking at other dogs/people. She has completely transformed into a whole new dog. I'm now able to take her outside without a muzzle. Training here was definitely worth the money. I trained with Joseph who is amazing! He not only trained my dog but also worked in collaboration with myself in order to train my dog and build her confidence. Thank you Gemini K9!!

Karen takes exceptional care of her clients' dogs, and treats them as her own. She's been helping us out with training, daycare, and boarding, and I've only seen our Lab-poodle get better and better adjusted (Karen claims it's his personality, but It's definitely her work). As far as boarding is concerned, our puppy came home happy, tired, and brushed. Her facilities are clean and enclosed, and give off the vibe of a dog summer camp. I have no complaints - thank you so much!!!
