AWESOME place for a nice walk. Warmer times of year they have a petting zoo with a variety of animals. There is also a playground. Great outdoor place for kids birthdays.

Love going for a walk, sit by the lake, pay my respects on the 911 memorial path, from May 24 to Thanksgiving, seeing the different animals, please dont feed them bread there is proper feed to purchase, This was my dad's happy place, so many memories

Nice small farmable for the kids so they can nap at the different animals which are farm animals so really exciting place for the kids to visit they can really enjoy by interacting with the animals that can pack them and their timings are also good so nice place commended for kids to visit

I love that's theres a free zoo for the kid's and thats the kids LOVE so much to go to to see the joy in the face and eyes when they see the animals is price less and then the kids see that's it free to see the animals then it makes something go off in there hearts the price of joy is worth. More then money them big cartels that make you pay to see animals that are barely taken care of he said Happy Wheels the animals are well taken care of and loved every single day in fact I went to the zoo paid $15 to go in and I went to walk around and see the deer they are poorly treated as well as other animals treated as a piece of money no care for their health only for their wealth

Always loved this place and glad to share it with the kids. Nice upgrade to the park as well. The playground is good. Sticker says recommended for ages 5 to 12 ( adult supervision recommended) but our three year old had no issues getting up and around on it. Always recommend this place for any age- even just for a nice walk.

The perfect place for all ages! The farm animals are happy and well taken care of & the bird sanctuary is beautiful. After being entertained walking through the animal viewing area and a beautiful walk by the ponds you are led to a spectacular view of the lake. Following exploring the grounds there are many picnic areas to relax and take in nature. Definitely worth the trip!

Love taking the kids here! We go a few times each summer. It sucks you can't pet or feed the animals anymore. But its still really nice to see them. Bathrooms are new but theres always a strange buzzing sound Haha.

This was a great place to visit with my 3 year old. We played pirates at the amazing park shaped like a ship. Then we did a scavenger hunt to explore all the amazing item they have displayed such as a cannon, propeller, anchors, and the museum. The museum is cute and has a lot of great facts about the area and the canals and there is a great memorial for the fallen workers that passed while making the canal. The viewing area is a great place to get a birds eye view of the ships. I wish there was a little cafe or something there. But there are plenty of picnic tables.

This place is awesome. Lots of historical items to view and things to read. If visual isn't enough for you they have audio too! Photography is allowed. Has observation lounge and decks so you can watch ships pass through lock 3 inside or outside. Has a small snack bar with coffee machine and light snacks, and a neat gift shop. Worth a visit for sure. While no admission fee per say, a donation of $4 per person is good. (Or more if you like!) ALSO they have the actual red ryder carbine action 200 shot range model air rifle from the cult classic movie 'A Christmas Story' and really, how cool is that.

I didn't know about this museum until a few months ago. It is free to visit (they do accept donations) and we thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits. There is plenty to see but not so much that it's overwhelming. The location on the canal is lovely and it would be a beautiful spot to visit in the good weather.

Great place to spend and explore the local history. Nice staff, clean place and surprisingly exciting. All the fun and it is completely FREE. Very recommended !!!

Great place to learn about Canadian History. Viewing of the canal is free of charge and a schedule is available. One can easily spend the whole day there.

Gorgeous scenery. I've been about three times now and there's cool old abandoned building remnants from the pioneer era and great views. The trails are confusing though and not labelled. Only time out of the three that I successfully navigated it at all was when I had someone with me who was very familiar with the area. Other two times, I've just wandered around and not found much. Which is nice in its own way but seeing frequently walked paths but no markers is always a risky move to follow. Hopefully one day this place will have a better map and markings along trails!

This park is great. The play structure keeps kids interested and has a lot of variety. The surface is soft and good for little falls. It has one of the few splash pads in St Catharines. The only downside is that a lot of people like this park so it's often crowded.

I play soccer here. It is a green field with grass. It is shaped in a rectangle and there are two nets. There is adequate room for 23 adults to run around on as well as several more adults on the sideline. The grass appears to be a typical GN-1 Bermuda grass. It has an even coverage and is well maintained. There is no slope on the pitch. It is adjacent to a parking lot on the west side and a tennis court to the east. An off target strike may send an errant ball over a fence to these territories. Overall I would recommend this field as a suitable place to play soccer.

Excellent location to come in contact with some of the history of the area in the early 1900s. A working grist mill with guided interpretations daily (summer) - and live flour grinding demonstrations open to the public one Saturday every month. A restored MIller's home - come and see how the folks lived and worked. Also features Decew Falls for viewing, picnic tables and access to the Bruce Trail. A great family outing.

Love Lakeside Park. The beach will take a step forward once it starts getting maintained for the summer season. The playground nearby is great for young kids. With Lock St Brewery, Balzacs Coffee, Kaiserhaus, and Kilt and Clover nearby, there are some great options when food or beverages are wanted!

It's a lovely park, clean, well tended with beautiful gardens seasonally and a playground for the kids. They also have concerts in the summer which draw people into the park for an evening of fun and fellowship.

My son and I played some catch and hit the ball around the wide green space in Montebello Park on one of the first mild Spring days of the year. My little daughter quickly tired of this idyllic but somewhat limited spectacle and so ran off on her own to the fairly substantial playground area- it's a safe park, kids can do this here. It'll be in full swing in the coming months, with regular concerts and festivals, and the long, well-stuffed rose garden. Unfortunately, there are always rough characters lingering either on the large or small gazebos or here or there, the park, being downtown, has always attracted it's fair share of weird and wild ones, but it's mainly always peaceful. And the addition of a free wifi hotspot, and chess park across the street, make it even more of destination.

Amazing trails to walk or run! A small playground if you have young kids. Great for walking the dog - lots of friendly people always around. The quarry is fantastic if your dog likes to jump in the water chasing a ball or stick. A great place to sit and relax as well.

Great place for a walk, especially if you have babies. The path is great for strollers or early walkers. They also have a kids nature area with tunnels, informational boards about the weather, play spots. At the back, there's a nice fenced dock to feed the fish and birds. There's also a gazebo with picnic tables. There are usually a lot of dogs here, but almost always on leash. There's not a lot of cover from the sun, cover up and bring sunscreen! The full loop probably takes about 2-3 depending on your speed.

An awesome place to visit! Great for pictures, but it's sad to see how much damage has been done to the kids science area. Would be great to see it with a fresh coat of paint and the informational signs fixed.
