My 3 boys attend the LMC and we really love the staff and the atmosphere. It's fun, relaxed but at the same time it's about the music. After each session, the instructor comes out and gives a short progress report and what they want to the kids to focus on before the next lesson. I was also very impressed (and proud) to watch my son's first violin recital. Very pleased with the experience my children are having. Recommended!!

Would sure love to spend some money here. If only they stayed open during the posted business hours! On more than one occasion, I have taken time out of my day to drive to this location only to find they have already closed for the day. I'm not talking about a few minutes early. Today, I arrived at the store at 330pm knowing the hours are until 4pm. Already closed! Very frustrating and not a good way to run a business because it shows great disrespect for it's patrons.

Our family has been part of the Academy of Music family for nearly a decade. The teachers are all highly qualified and share their love and appreciation of music with the students. They are so encouraging! A great variety of instruments are taught at the school. Working with the Academy is easy. They help busy families nurture their children's gifts by arranging lesson times and carrying any resources you might need to further your child's music education (music books, scores, instruments, accessories, etc.). We have always felt a strong sense of community and connection with the teachers and owners of the Academy, as well as other families we see at lessons and annual recitals. All of our children have taken lessons at one point or another, with instruments ranging from piano to ukulele. As a graduate of the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University, I love bringing my kids to learn at the Academy of Music as well as supporting the school and its teachers.

All 3 of my girls are currently taking music lessons at the Academy. We have been coming there for 4 school years and have only good things to say about the teachers. My girls have studied piano, violin and drums. Each teacher brings out a unique side of his/her student. I find they begin where the student is at and gently push them to become more skilled and confident. The owners are very accommodating as well. For example, they worked hard to find a drum teacher for one of my girls so that she could have her lesson at the same time as her 2 other sisters. Learning to play an instrument can be daunting, and coming at one as an older student makes it that much more so. I bought a violin on a whim last year and crunched my way through a couple of months on my own before deciding to take lessons at SMArts. Immediately I noticed a difference, and so did my downstairs neighbours. The team at SMArts make it easy to learn, and motivated me to progress. They taught me what I needed to know, and adapted to my learning style. They challenged me to get better, and were always open to questions and challenges that I faced. Whether it was trouble with sound quality or shaky bow, my teacher (Jade) showed me the tricks that she used to fix the problems. Without her help I would not enjoy playing as much as I do. The other interesting thing to note is that the school does not only teach classical music. Having had my fill of Mozart and Bach as a child, I wanted to focus my attention on East Coast and Irish fiddle. Jade was happy to oblige, and in the process of teaching me by ear taught me to read sheet music. I was convinced that I could not read sheet music, but SMArts made it possible. I would recommend SMArts to anyone who wants to learn, young or old. Coming at it as an older student was different, but not nearly as difficult as I thought, and the team at SMArts helped me achieve what I set out to do. They are professional, energetic, and accommodating, and always willing to go the extra mile. It is the perfect place to learn. 10/10

We purchased a pre owned U1 piano a couple of years back. It was a fair price and the codition of the piano was excellent. The movers were frankly amazing. I was very inpressed with their clockwork like efficency and precision. Since purchase we have had the piano tuned by Plum Pianos two times (the first was free with the piano purchase). Each time we were very happy with the professional service and quality workmanship. Our entire experience has been first rate. Thanks!

As an adult student that doesn't have too much time to practice, I believe lessons every other week would've been suffice. When I told that to the owner, he not only was inflexible with my request, but also antagonized me saying that would be losing money. Also, the owner took my credit card information on paper (including CVV), and refused to hand it back to me, or tear it apart. I feel extremely uncomfortable that these people have my full credit card information. Don't get lessons here, don't get your piano tuned here, and don't get any piano moved from here. I made the mistake of getting piano moved by Plumb Pianos and they made a big pavement in my yard. Completely unprofessional.

I had my piano moved this morning and it was the easiest and best experience ever. I called at least 6 different places before calling plumb piano to move my baby grand and everyone else was giving me ridiculously high quotes. When I called and booked. I was a little skeptical. But the guys came on time. They were efficient, organized and super careful. Not just towards my piano but my house, the walls and other furnitures in the area where the people was moved. They made it look easy. Thank you so much for making it stressfree.

Took this driving school course due to its excellent reputation in the community and schools. My experience, learning how to drive was nothing short of phenomenal. I joined with zero experience in a car, never even turned on a car! Instructors taught me so well within the promised time frame that I passed my G2 test within the first try! If you are looking for a professional, safe and trustworthy driving school, believe me, this school is the right one. They balanced my crazy schedule and catered to all my needs. I started with Scott years ago, three locations ago. I can't remember how long ago but Scott does, which is indicative of how much he cares for his individual students. Scott's method of teaching works very well for me. He has a structure and an agenda but it's not readily apparent. However, it quickly became clear that he has built his program around my interests. Rockabilly becomes Bach and Paganini under Scott's instruction. The best part of a class is when Scott demonstrates how different artists would play the same piece of music. That is worth the price of admission right there. Scott is very detail orientated. He covers everything right down to what pick and how to hold it for that style of music; where to play for that tone; what chords to get the best feel. He even provides good ergonomic guidance. Besides the basic guitar instruction, Scott has been invaluable in other aspects of music such as setting amps, performance, presentation, and audience management. I often ask how a certain piece of music creates a mood or effect and receive an insightful response. He has even given me valuable advise in promoting my new career. He has guided and maintained my love of music. He has introduced me to material that I did not expect to like but now understand why, musically, they are important works. All in all, I highly recommend Scott as an instructor and for being a great human being.

I'm so glad I went to Scott for lessons....at the time I knew how to play chords, but I really wanted to learn to play lead guitar. Scott quickly assessed where I was and had me on my way. As an older guy who came in my 30's I was impressed that Scott knew all of the old stuff too.....now I'm playing Pink Floyd, Santana, Hendrix, Deep Purple, Eagles, etc. I also do a lot of writing and recording of my own stuff and Scott gives you the background you need to understand how to create your own songs and leads.....you won't learn that from Youtube. I find Scott to be the kind of person you would like to have in your life...he's positive, energetic and totally engaged with the guitar. Now I'm in my 50's and still playing every day.....I can't believe the joy that music has brought to my life.....

My lessons with Scott were very helpful. He quickly assessed where I was, where I wanted to go, and provided an individualized program, with a clear roadmap of exercises and resources to help me fill in the gaps in my previous learning. I think he took me from Intermediate to Advanced player in a couple months, and I feel a lot more comfortable now, exploring modes, improving my blues licks, and generally using the whole guitar neck more productively. Our family loves going to kindermusik classes. Miss Orly makes us feel so welcome, that it’s truly enjoyable as adults as well. It’s also nice to see your child develop and enjoy the instruments, music and activities more as time goes on. We started when our little one was 3 months and haven’t stopped. It’s been a great way to introduce our baby to music (and other babies since we haven’t started daycare), and a very fun activity you can do together. We also love the flexibility of scheduling offered, so we can easily makeup missed classes here and there if we will be traveling or have an emergency. If you are thinking of it, try it! Always enjoy visiting the store. Staff seem great. I rented a guitar here once and it was a great way to try new equipment without buying it first. This time *I called to renew a warranty. Thanks for the reminder. I don't usually purchase store warranties but I did in this case. Glad I did. I think it's great having a good sized store in town. The poor reviews are mostly store experience and that is, of course, something that every store operator needs to pay attention to. There's always room for improvement.

We like coming here! Very friendly and family oriented place! My older daughter takes guitar lesson and most of the time I come and wait for her with my 4 y.o, and she likes to go around and touch instruments and play them and sometimes even makes mess, however we never had anyone told us not to do it or be quiet or don’t touch things, staff are very nice and friendly here, always greet us with a slime and are very helpful with any questions.

Big store and full of great instruments. The staff are pretty good. Never seem to mind when I play the pianos. I like their sheet music selection.

NOTE: This review applies only to the retail store, and not to the lessons, as I have no experience taking lessons at this location. Sizeable store with a limited selection - okay for the basics and for supplies, but not for midrange to high end gear. For electric guitars, pretty much only Fender and Gibson models are available, with a tiny selection (maybe 5-6 guitars) outside of those brands. Limited access to other brands via special order, but don't expect much. Prices are generally reasonable, but staff is usually unwilling to negotiate on floor model pricing, even with obvious damage or wear and tear present on the item. The biggest issue I consistently have at this store is poor service from sales staff. On most of my visits to the store, nobody on staff even greets or acknowledges me, let alone asks if I need assistance. If I go and actively seek someone out, some of the staff are helpful, but others treat helping a customer like it's a big inconvenience. I've walked out on numerous occasions without purchasing anything because I've felt like they don't care enough to even say hello. Additionally, calling this store is often a frustrating experience. I'm often placed on hold to be transferred to a different department, and the hold is never picked back up. Today was the most recent example of this - I called in to attempt to arrange for some music lessons and was placed on hold to be transferred. I hung up after 20 minutes of being on hold with neither the lessons department, nor the person who originally answered my call picking up the phone. All in all, a reasonable store hampered by poorly trained sales staff and poor service. Try to deal with Grace or Jonathan whenever possible as they're the only two staff at the location who seem to consistently provide good service. The front counter staff in particular make little to no effort to help customers.

Much bigger then their mall store used to be. Great selection of instruments, and equipment. Couldn't find a few things, I would have liked better labels on some things - but staff were happy to point free in the right directions.

Great store, great prices, great selection and great employees. I only go here for instruments. Save yourself time and just go here first. I prefer this customer service over other music stores. The staff lets you browse the instruments without following you around like you're going to steal something. If you prefer to be treated like a theif when you walk in, mabey try Bellones.

Just came home from stopping in at this location, looking at pianos, and was beyond shocked at the lack of service. From the first step into the store, no one ever acknowledged us nor tried to help. The store wasn’t busy, and there were 4 staff behind counter and 1 walking the showroom. From reading the reviews this seems very common. So disappointing from a local company.

My husband and I have been shopping here for years, he plays guitar, so does my dad. It's always been a good experience both shopping and ordering however I've recently had a few negative experiences with one of the newer staff. I've dealt with her a couple times and she was extremely rude and confrontational. I wanted to order a present for my husband and when she couldn't find it or didn't understand what I was looking for she told me to order it myself online. I told her I'd seen it on the website and she became very flustered and rude. I was in again last week and had to deal with her again as she was the only staff member standing by the checkout. When she finally put her phone down and acknowledged I was waiting to pay she couldn't bother to hide the fact I was inconveniencing her. I do like this store, my husband calls it his toy store, but this staff member is very negative and has a toxic attitude. Otherwise, we've been happy shopping here for years. And the location is great, just off the 401. Easy to get to for us out of towners!

While they almost always have what I'm looking for, the service is consistently poor. I came in today on crutches to buy a tuning pedal and struggled to see into the cases while 3 associates stood less than 8 feet away just gabbing and singing. Even after I got the pedal I wanted out of the case myself, I had to stand at the check out for some time before anyone came to take my money. If there were more brick and mortar options in the area I'd pay more money there then come back to L&M.

This is my music store. Have gotten my last four guitars here (2 for me and 2 for my stepson). Good selection for guitars (the North London location has a bit more). Love the in house financing.

I went in to pick up some pics and talk to see if my new (to me) guitar needed a tune up. Its my first time playing and I wanted to try and learn using Rock Smith. When I mentioned to the clerk, I thought he was having a seizure as his eyes rolled so far back in his skull I didn't think they would be able find their way back. He then had a very dismissive tone. I go the hint, and mentioned that I needed pics, which he was able to point me to the section. When I arrived I learned that there are different sizes, however, the previous interaction meant I was definitely not going to be asking for help with what pics would be best. Extremely disappointing, as I am just trying to learn guitar and was severely negatively judged on how I decided to learn. Will definitely be finding a different music store for any other music accessory or instrument I need.

I came here a few years ago and some of the staff were not too useful and weren’t too polite. I bought a guitar elsewhere. Now, just a week ago, I re-entered the store to buy another guitar and the staff were enlightened and very polite. In fact, the staff here were the nicest I’ve witnessed in the past years! Hope they stay this way!

Each time I've been to this Long and McQuade the staff have been awesome. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. This isn't the biggest L&M so selection won't be as great as other locations.
