My work was hosting a dinner for perfect attendance for perfect attendance of the whole year of 2018. The food was awesome. I had to take my desert home as u was very full. and the waiters we had were awesome, friendly and very helpful, not to mention good looking! The other staff around the restaurant, bar area were friendly and helpful.

Some friends and I had a very interesting experience here. I will preface this by saying our entire meal was eventually covered by the restaurant which was very much appreciated, and in my mind the right thing to do. We're in town for a company hockey tournament and just finished playing 3 games, and are hungry. We had called about 3 hours ahead to make a reservation for 14 people which they confirmed would not be a problem. We get there in the evening and get seated and order some drinks, appetizers, and our meals. The drinks come as do the appetizers and a second round of drinks. About 2.5-hours later, there was still no main course and it's about 10:30pm now. A manager comes over to apologize for the long wait and offers to send some free snacks to hold us over. At this point a few of my friends couldn't stick around any longer, so they left. The rest of us stayed. We complained about the fact that there was very little communication about the delay, which was caused by a 'party of 80 people' on the top floor and their kitchen not being able to handle the capacity. They did eventually bring out the food albeit extremely delayed, and they took care of the entire bill for us. It was a pretty good burger, and the atmosphere was nice but waiting 2.5 hours for a burger isn't the best idea of dining in my mind. I really wish they had communicated this before hand, either when I made the reservation or when we placed our orders. Perhaps in the future they would either close the restaurant down for the private event, or bring in additional kitchen staff or something.

Came here for lunch, and got the pork belly sandwich, and soup of the day. The soup was quite good, but the portion seemed quite small, as the bowl was only about half filled. The sandwich itself felt like it was lacking something to justify the price. The service was very slow to start, took quite a while to have someone come and take our order, and it wasn't busy, but it was between the lunch & dinner shift, so maybe that was the reason. Once we had our orders taken, the service was about average. Maybe their dinner menu would have been better, but we also weren't informed only the lunch menu was available at 4pm, we overheard them telling some other customers, because we had come to a steak house to get a steak, and only saw a steak sandwich on the menu. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed and probably wouldn't return. The food was okay, but for the price you could get better elsewhere.

This is a nice restaurant close to the student neighbourhood in Kingston. Th Grizzly carvings are very cool and it is nice and airy. The food was very good. I especially recommend the chicken avocado club. It's not the cheapest but I believe you get value for money.

Before going there we thought we would be having a great experience. The food is undoubtedly tasty. However, the portions size are really small when compared to the prices. The service is not that great. My husband and I were treated as if they wanted us to be out of there as soon as possible, even though we spent a lot of money there. So the price/benefit doesn't really match the experience, which is unfortunate.

Great atmosphere. Superb food. Wonderful wait staff. The only thing we did not love was that we were seated next to an emergency exit (the least visibly pleasing area of the restaurant). Otherwise, it is a 5 star.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere. The food was good overall. I'll skip the scallops next time. Portion was very small and needed bacon :-) The steak was great, the the chicken was good. I'm looking forward to trying the sea food risotto and braised beef ribs next.

BEAUTIFUL - WONDERFUL ATMOSPHERE and FOOD and SERVICE My wife and I stayed at Ontario's BEST Hotel, the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston and thoroughly enjoyed the EXCELLENT food and service and staff at the Bistro Stefan. We sure hope to do it again with a 2- or 3-night stay at the Fireside Inn to we can enjoy historic Kingston and area and more wonderful food and service.

I agree with the previous poster, not a place to go if your hungry. Portions are very slight, I thought newvous cuisine was old school. My companion diner had the filet mignon @ $40.00, Again not much on the plate. My daughter had the mushroom risotto, there might have been 7 ounces of risotto and that was considered an entree. Both times we visited, we were told that they were busier than expected, so our food would take longer to come out of the kitchen. It did take a long time. I had their “gourmet” poutine, it arrived 40 minutes later, cold, made with frozen fries, a lot of fat, that I suppose came off the beef brisket, but there was more fat than brisket, no gravey or sauce to speak of and like I said the whole plate was so cold the cheese would not melt, even after I put it under the fries and brisket. Very disappointed. At the price of $19.00 plus tax I expected something outstanding. I have eaten much better poutine from a chip truck, for a lot less. If your hungry I would suggest trying “The Cavalier Room” at the Lasalle hotel, upper Princess Street, They have excellent food and plenty of it, very reasonable prices. The decor will take you back to the 70’s, but I kinda like that.

Worst food I have ever ate! Maybe it’s just this location. Ordered medium-well steak, came out like leather. The baked potato tasted like they found it on the floor of their walk-in. Avoid this location. The manager was nice though.....

This is probably the best place in Kingston to get Fajitas. They are pricey so be aware before you go. They brought back free chips and salsa so at least there is that. Wait staff are usually pretty good although I have had a few run ins with not so good staff from time to time. Best tip I can give is that if they are BUSY don't go there because chances are something will go wrong and you won't be happy. If they aren't lined up out the door though the Fajitas are definitely worth the price.

I definitely love their rib. Their rib is soft enough to let you feel that the rib is melting on your mouth. Also, their server are friendly and fast. They always serve you the chip before and it tastes really good. Some of the down side of this place is some dishes have relatively small portion that I still fell hungry after eating a combo even the price is OK. If you seating on the bar table, sometimes the lightning is relatively dark compare to the table.

This is great Texmex in Ontario, Canada. The chips and salsa are complimentary to start your meal. The salsa is very tasty with just the right amount of cilantro. Be careful not to over eat this appetizer as it's easy to spoil your main course! Fajitas are what they are known for and they deliver. The enchiladas are equally as tasty but many people never stray from the fajitas. Service is friendly and usually prompt. This is not a fine dining experience but if you are looking for a casual Texmex meal, you can't go wrong!

Our family loves this restaurant. The staff are always friendly. I don't think we've ever looked at the menus! We predictably get the pound (half chicken half beef) of fajitas...every time. Although it is a little pricy, it fills our family of 6 and we have never had wraps anywhere else that taste as good, seriously! You can't beat their homemade tortilla chips and wraps. It's a louder environment, so don't go expecting a quiet meal. Go have fun, be a loud family--talk laugh, and just be!

Another wonderful evening our at Le Chien Noir. Attentive waitstaff, large flavorful portions. Excellent place for small groups. The two of us shared three of the appetizers, and were quite full and satisfied. A wide variety of items on the menu, including many gourmet versions of pub-food - like duck wings and a poutine with brie and shredded duck. Nice drink selection.

Walked in just to ask one of the servers about their menu. They were very knowledgeable about their menu and their ingredients. We decided to join them for dinner. We ordered their fish & chips. Now, for background, my family and I are very picky when it comes to fish & chips. Their pacific haddock was just incredible. Beautifully cooked, succulent and juicy; with an amazing, flavorful, light and crispy batter. The chips were fresh and a very good accompaniment. The spices used in the batter were very unique and I can’t say I’ve ever had anything like that. Huge fans and we plan to be back for more fish.

Not much to say, except: GO HERE! if you like top quality food at great prices, with super service. BEST fish and chips by far, we've had in a long time. A lot of other "fish and chip" places could and should go here to learn how to do it right. Quality fish, top quality batter, light crispy fries and all hot and perfect. Also the fish tacos were excellent as well. Laura, our server, was warm, friendly and efficient.

If you like oysters and are in Kingston, you won't want to miss this restaurant. We also shared an order of mussels in a tomato and wine sauce, which was to die for. The restaurant sits on a beautiful corner, a few stone throws from the water. The service and staff were entertaining and very helpful in helping us choose our remaining dishes, taking into account my food intolerances. Overall it was a great experience and the perfect way to be introduced to the Kingston dinning scene.

Didn't have a reservation but they were able to fit us in. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was out of this world. The tequila shrimp appetizer was superb and the scallop fettuccine was cooked perfectly. Dianne's burger was also perfectly cooked and so moist and flavourful. This is going to be a must visit next time we are in town.

Quite the little downtown eatery, just wasn't for us. An older couple near-by were definitely regulars that loved the place. Food portions were small and the drink was strong, service didn't seem very responsive to concerns despite there being only a few occupied tables. $75 makes it a costly learning experience. We had an AMAZING time here on New Year's Eve....even though the restaurant was busy, we weren't at all rushed and our server was exceptional (think her name was Amanda?). She was attentive but didn't hover, and had a wonderful sense of humour. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. This is one of our favourite restaurants in Kingston!

This place is was right next door to our Holiday Inn, on our first visit to Kingston. Rustic old stone building which had the same look inside with historic old stone walls, and fireplaces, great atmosphere. Husband had the blue cheese Burger and I had the Mediterranean salad with steak cooked a perfect medium. Burgers look to be homemade so do fries. Everything was great, as well as the staff, definitely recommend and will be back if in area again.

This review is for the restaurant section. I have had two meals from here and they have both been pretty bad. I had the salmon meal a year or so ago and it was just awful, dry and flavouless. Then recently, I had their signature burger. Again it was bland, the burger was set and overcooked. The three stars are due to others in my party enjoying their meals, (except the one's that had burgers!) And the service being pretty good.

I’ve always thought of Montana’s as an okay restaurant chain until I came to this specific Montana’s. I don’t know what it is, but the food is beyond exceptional. It’s always a delicious meal with great service. This Montana’s is my all-time favourite and my go-to restaurant when I visit Kingston.

Typical of a Cara Foods restaurant in Kingston. Lack of staff. Staff overwhelmed and jaded. Lack of managers and supervisors and when they do engage with the public, they are ignorant and don't care. They talk about the patrons right in front of the patrons, which is the height of ignorance. The rest of my table felt so uncomfortable they wanted to leave and not finish their meal. When my order showed up the opposite to the way I asked and not edible, I asked to return the complete order. On the receipt, they printed, "Its On Us!" The reality is, I returned the complete order. They made it sound like I got something free. They are a sarcastic, passive agressive bunch from the start. They aren't business people or restaurateurs.

I haven’t been to Montana’s in quite some time but my partner and I went there recently, the day after Christmas and had a thoroughly delicious meal. We ordered the spinach dip with pita bread for an appetizer and it was very good, and I had the southern fried chicken with a creamy white sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and cornbread, it was awesome, I’m still thinking about it! My guy got the steak and really liked it too. I wasn’t a fan of the house wine (a very oaky white) but can’t win every time! Overall a great experience!

Great service, friendly faces, and the BEST deep fried pickles in town. My boyfriend and I love to eat here. Suggestion: If entering at a busy time make sure you approach the front desk and tell them how many people are in your party. Twice now we have expected to be greeted like every other restaurant and waited until the hostess had finished her conversation with a colleague, just to have someone walk in front and they were seated first. A better policy could be put in place at the front door.

Love this place. The mac and cheese is outta this world. Also love the broccoli cheddar soup, homestyle chicken dinner, I could go on. The only thing I didn't like was the potato skins only because I dont like bbq sauce and they are smothered in it. Staff are friendly and helpful.

We saw this place on our way to another restaurant for which we had reservations and it totally catched our eye. We love steakhouses, so we decided to give it a try. Even without reservations we were seated right away, and with a smile. All the staff were super nice, friendly and efficient. As for the food, it was exactly what we wanted: perfectly seasoned, tender and flavorful steaks cooked to our liking, served pretty fast too. The sides weren't bad either: coleslaw, fries, house salad, fried onions. And the prices were pretty good too: 7oz. sirloin steak plates were 18.99$ and the bottle of pino grigio 30$. We'll definitely come back!

Very friendly service from servers, the food upon arrival looked great but i must say fish poorly cooked. Ordered the captains choice meal for lunch and made me horribly sick with severe stomach cramps, bw's as well. Should have taken it as a sign when the table sitting diagonal to us had a problem w their dish as well, fish undercooked, her plate was returned chef came to her table very apologetic I thought nothing more of it ate my meal until afterwards I'm clenching my stomach and suffering I suppose same problem w my dish.

Food taste has gone down over the past few years. Most of the meal tasted oily like. Not somewhere I will likely visit on a regular basic. Had the Admirals Feast, all the battered items tasted the same and oily. Baked potato was fine. Mints should be made available after each meal or at the door. My wifes steak was cooked correctly and tasted good.

Reliable and consistent. One of the oldest gourmet restaurant in Kingston. Great food and drink. Good place to celebrate special occasions. Still one of the best restaurants in Kingston. Parking in the old part of downtown is never easy, so when you find a spot in under 5 minutes, it makes everything taste better. Older building that could probably use an overhaul, the interior is far from awesome, but the food is why you come here. And the food is awesome. Well priced, good service and delicious food, overall a wonderful lunch. Menu is interesting, and there is something for everyone.

I have eaten here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. All the staff are personable, service is quick, and the food is excellent. As a fine dining restaurant, the food is obviously slightly pricier than the average but well worth it. There are vegan and vegetarian options on the menu as well - including dessert! I would definitely recommend Chez Piggy for a date night or special occasion.

Good to very good, but falling short of great. Nice setting upstairs, with reasonable sound level. Some cold drafts, surprisingly, but not too bad. Kitchen accommodated special requests, which is very good (not sure why others don't, given it's really supposed to be about the customer). Service was very good. Charcuterie was a bit weak. Food is very good. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for!

What a wonderful restaurant. Service is excellent, the food is amazing. Duck wings not so meaty but worth the taste. Had the steak cheese sandwich which was one of the greatest steak sandwiches I ever had. The atmosphere was quaint and the price was reasonable for what we received. Will chose to eat here again when in town.

Have yet to have food here. The lady had 4 tables come in all at once and meals look well perceived and presented professionly, for a family bar. Always NEVER have a problem with bartenders, soon as my hand goes up they are there. Even on busy days. Music system sounds awesome, probably best in town! Love watching a good band play well I'm downing shots. Friendly people go there too, never fights that I know of. Great atmmosphere. Don't forget about the bong stouts you can order for yourself and buddy's.

Karaoke Used to be fun until tonight when owners daughter entered into the singing contest while on shift serving paying loyal customers , was a slap in the face when she was put through the next round . There are a lot of of other good singers (paying customers) who should have gone through . The karaoke host isn't at fault the owner should know better not to allow your staff your own daughter to enter . After the 3 were selected the bar emptied hmm wonder why lost my business and others too . owner and daughter were judges

Let me start by saying our waitress was great, and we did not complain to them because we are not those type of people. I would like you to know that we have been to many kegs, in many different places. This was the worst steak I have ever had, i always splurge for a rib steak "which i know is supposed to be fatty" but not an entire piece of fat. My friends also had an extremely fatty piece of meat (New York strip). As far as "the keg" standards go, this place should pull their sign down!

Just get back from our dinner and it was too good that I couldn't wait to put the review on. First of all our waitress Katrine was amazing. Secondly food is stunning. We had to wait a little bit longer for main course but they apologized and it was worth it. Now it's our most favorite restaurant in Kingston.

Excellent restaurant using very fresh local ingredients. Menu is interesting and varied. The wine list of a choice of 40 different wines, all under $40 dollars is really great. Went here for supper without a reservation and were given a table. The steak frites and the night's special of pan-seared arctic char with a magnificent butternut squash risotto and asparagus, were so beautifully prepared and presented. (I personally think that risotto should be a standard on the menu!) Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. It's in a little strip plaza but the inside is lovely and as mentioned, the food is amazing. I would like to give a shout out to Vicky, our lovely server, who made a very nice evening for us.

I cant believe this place! This is a hidden gem!!!! The food was so delicious and well presented. Our waiter was also amazing and he knew everything in the menu!!!! We will definitely be returning next time we visit!!! The food is also locally brought in, the beer was from local breweries!!!! That is awesome on it's own!!!!!!
