I contacted DT Splinter based on a recommendation from a friend and was very happy I did. They took all of our requirements and worked with the layout of our kitchen for a complete re-model. Since the cabinets are made on site there were custom sizes and designs which are great. The quality of the workmanship is evident. We had Cataraqui Cabinets renovate our kitchen recently and are so happy that we chose them for the work that was carried out. The quality of the cabinets are superior to any others that I have seen elsewhere. The kitchen cabinets were delivered and installed on schedule as promised, everything right down to the most minor detail was taken care off so we didn't have to worry about a thing. When I finally received quote it was a quick quote over the phone again told how incredibly busy they are and I was lucky if I could have kitchen renovated 6-7 months down the road. We have a highend custom kitchen from Countrywide. One of our cabinets broke and we wanted to get it fixed ( pay them to fix it and not for free) and after 3 months of run around and promising to come and fix it they never did. They actually sent us an email asking us to contact their competitor to have the repairs done. Do not buy your kitchen through them. Worst aftercare I have ever experienced in my life. Here is the email reply we got from them. This is to repair 1 small door hinge.3 months of email and repeated follow up from my wife this is what we get. "I apologize for the delay and completely understand your frustration. At this time, I would encourage you to contact the competitor company that you had previously contacted prior to Countrywide, to repair your cabinet for you sooner." We had these people do our kitchen when we first moved here and the quality of their work did not match what we payed for. Almost all of our cabinets are crooked and as you can see from the pictures posted below there is also a few more issues. It's been awhile since we did business with them and maybe they have improved their work but as it stands I would not recommend them based on what was given to us.

Wow, what do you say about a company who's tag line is "designed for living - built for life" when their install and product starts to fall apart within 6 months of install. Don runs a family business where he rules the roost, oh and he conceals a second business within his business, that his "son" runs. My cabinet doors have swelled and busted, the finish has peeled off all lower doors and drawers and a full bank of drawers needed a skilled carpenter to reinforce the cabinet. When Don was made aware of the issues he sent out his warranty person (also a son), who was able to first tell me he would "look after it" and later tell me that I had "abused" my kitchen.... um, how does one abuse one's kitchen ? I certainly use it, but abuse it...? If you want a kitchen for a quick sale of your home Dons your guy, but then again he's not cheap, so maybe just save the hassle and use someone else who is qualified.

We had dealt with this contractor in past with no major issues but this time was a nightmare. We had a design for built in cabinets in dining room. Contractor changed design without consulting us and tried to install without our approval. When mistakes pointed out contractor first refused to make changes as he believed he had informed us. When asked for proof he could not provide it and reluctantly agreed to correct the issues within 1-2 weeks What was supposed to be a 4 day project turned into weeks of trying to get the contractor to complete. They would ignore phone calls and email requests. When finally contacted they would set a date to finish the job and then wouldn't show up. This merry-go round went on for over 6 weeks with multiple dates and no shows. Contractor always had poor excuses for not contacting us or actually finishing work. In the end the contractor refused to return our calls or emails. It became apparent the contractor would never complete the job. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. We now have to look for another contractor to complete the job he refuses to do.

I moved to a new home on August 1st. Before moving, I visited Hawthorne Kitchens as they were recommended to me by a bath store nearby. We made an appointment with the lady that helped us to come to our new home on the 2nd to do measurements. She came and said she would get back to us in a couple days. We never heard from her again. On August 12th I contacted them via their Facebook page detailing this and was assured when they got to the office they would look in to this and contact me. Today is the 15th and still nothing. So confusing to me why a business would conduct themselves this way, what business wouldn't want thousands of dollars??

Their extensive and deep knowledge of their craft was obvious, but they were still very patient with my many questions, and very resourceful in shaping my vague ideas into a clear picture of what I wanted. They visited in person to get the feel of my place, and beyond the complete design of the kitchen itself, they’ve offered very useful tips for both appearance and functionality of adjacent rooms, to create a balanced, consistent feel of style throughout the house. Even after the work was completed, Chris came over to check that everything was done properly, with no detail left unattended. After much internet research we approached Oakwood for an estimate for about 20 linear feet of closet. We visited the showroom and identified the type of units we wanted, then asked for a price estimate. We were told only Dave could do that and he wasn’t available, so we should email details. We did that, and then waited for the email to be acknowledged. It finally was, but Dave was unable to provide any kind of estimate. Although we had given a very detailed request with measurements, he wanted us to send him a drawing. He said he would send an estimate “some time after next week”. Very disappointed with this response, since we were trying to finalize the budget for some additions to our home after a recent move. Dave couldn’t even tell us the approximate cost of any of the units in the showroom or catalogue. The only reason we are still waiting patiently for an estimate is because Oakwood’s associated company did all of the stair railings when we built the house, and the work was excellent. But maybe things have changed since 2005 ...

Great experience with Oakwood Closets! We worked with Dave, who designed some great options for us and helped us to make the most out of our space. The technology that they use for their renderings made it easy to envision what everything would look like in our space and made our decision much easier. The installation process went very smoothly. The 2 installers were polite, efficient and asked my preferences on things, which I appreciated. They brought drop-sheets to keep our carpets clean as they brought the closet pieces in and had me check everything over before they left. My only complaint is that the installers were a bit later than our scheduled time and it would have been nice to have a head's up on this, but things happen and it didn't tarnish my experience at all. Overall, I am very impressed with our custom closet and would highly recommend Oakwood Closets!

Last summer I had closets installed in our Master Bedroom closet. Overall the design was good, but installation and quality of work and follow-up was very poor: 1) The first installation was very poor quality with gaps, sections not attached to the wall properly, several section where not level and drawer did not close properly. 2) I followed up with the main office and their supervisor missed two schedule appointment when I had scheduled time off. 3) Finally I was able to schedule a second installer from Oakwood who had to basically rebuild / reinstall most of the closet. 4) After this the drawers still did not close properly and yet another install came out and replaced all of the runners - he made the comment to me that Oakwood recently changed their supplier and the quality was not as good. 5) The Drawer still do not close properly and I will have to replace the runners myself. I can not recommend Oakwood. We have made several renos to this house since we have moved in last year and have been asked by several people on reno contractor recommendations and I have steered many people away from Oakwood.
