The General Tao, Orange Chicken and crispy beef are more batter then substance. The garlic ribs I believe were just microwaved and over done at that. The rolls were great!!! The sushi I found to be cut thin and one piece had a dry edge as if it had been laying out...... I would not go back. 2 meals 67$ and I was underwhelmed in all avenues

So my wife and son and I recently went here for dinner. We have been here a number of times, but this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. We waited well over and hour for our food, and didn't receive over three quarters of what we ordered. The wait staff were pretty much non existent and there were countless other people who were in the same boat we were in the dining room. When I went to get our bill they still charged us full price, and the older lady (possibly manager) offered no apology and came across as being quite rude. We definitely didn't get $60 worth of food. Not even close. In the past we enjoyed coming here, but after tonight we will never be returning to restaurant. We will most likely go to Mandarin because at least there you know you'll get your food and there service is ten times better. I honestly feel like I was robbed, as I got the equivalent of a Happy Meal size portion!

This is my go-to sushi place. My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now. It's a very convenient place (2 minute walk from the Terry Fox bus station) and never disappoints. It's not a very big restaurant, but the service and quality is consistent.

The all you can eat is really pricey especially with the 2 hour limit. But we ordered a la carte and it was quite nice, good portions, free miso soup, in response to some of the other wait staff comments, that's just the culture. You ask for things you don't get offered.

Definitely the best sushi place I've tried in Ottawa. Been to a handful all over the city and most were disappointing, especially for the drive (from kanata). I've heard there's a really good one downtown but i haven't been... yet. Presentation is great, the sushi tastes AMAZING. Have been on many dates and double dates here. The ambiance is very nice, especially at quieter times. Wait staff are great, I'm actually a huge fan of the way orders are taken with very few words exchanged (but when you need something else from them they've always been friendly). Food arrives without much waiting, and is hot if necessary. Can't wait to go again!!! (picture is from after we'd moved some of the sushi around, but this is what I have at the time of writing the review, very lovely atmosphere)

Good food served fairly quickly. The servers are suitably busy, so are not overly friendly. The price is appropriate for all-you-can-eat and they have everything I enjoy on an all-you-can-eat sushi menu.

Tasty wide variety of sushi, tempura and udon dishes. We had a rather large group for a birthday in the party room, and timeliness was great considering how many of us there were plus the main restaurant. Price wasn't cheap (i think $30/ adult) but was delicious and excellent quality.

One of the best sushi joints around Ottawa. Service 5+. The staff are very attentive and prompt. The place is clean and well looked after. Food 4.5. The sushi quality is good, and the best I've had in Ottawa. This would be quite mid-teir if compared to Toronto or Vancouver, but definitely great by Ottawa standards. The tempura was passable, the rest was great. Price 5/5. Great value for your money. It's all you can eat and you can have as much sashimi as you'd like. Overall 5/5. Check out the place. It's definitely worth the drive. This will be my go to sushi joint in Ottawa now.

All you can eat buffet. Great selection of tasty food items at this place. We went at dinner time so more premium items are available for meats and seafood (mussels, crab legs, fried squid, shrimp variety, etc). The dessert and sushi options are great and many. It's fairly priced. Great for big groups. They accommodated our 15 people group without a reservation. Best to go close to their opening lunch and dinner hours. Everything is just made then, fresh.

Very authentic Asian cuisine in a large well run restaurant. Not your typical hole-in-the-wall Chinese place. The food was good and plentiful. You can order a la carte, combos, or a full-on buffet. The buffet prices just went up $2 per person, but I think it's still a good value for what you get. Worth checking out.

This is a great Chinese buffet. If you care about the taste of the food and don't want to spend too much for your work lunch, you should come here. You get good bang of your money spent compared to Mandarin not too far away. Good selection of dishes, great taste and friendly price. I am a bit worried that this business would close due to Mandarin opened nearby. However, I do not want to spend ~$30 just for buffet and ended up without a choice of inexpensive meal like Panda Garden!

Went here on a Thursday evening for dinner. We arrived just before 5pm. The food was mediocre. I would think being the 1st customers, it would be fresh. A lot of items was dry. I suspect they re-heated it from the lunch buffet. I can tell when you re-fry wings. It cost $19.99 plus tax per person. The sushi was even a bit crusty on the edge. How does that happen when the restaurant just opened? The sushi is more fresh sitting in Loblaws all day.

Pretty solid food. Nothing was extraordinary, but it was a good buffet with no dishes that were old or stale. Everything was kept fresh. Also a bonus that we went during dinner on a Friday and didn't have to wait to be seated - got to our table right away. Would definitely recommend, but don't expect to be wowed by the food, just pleased.

Of the all you can eat Chinese buffets I have been to this place is definitely the best one to date. Have been here quite a few times over the years and have always had a pleasant experience. The staff are very attentive at filling water and removing plates. I have experienced that it is best to go during busier hours as the food is typically fresher vs random times like 3pm. All in all would suggest trying the place. Can not beat the price either.

This could have been a much higher rating as the food could have tasted very good. However everything was cold! Either they're trying to save money by not using lights or warmers to keep the food hot or they don't work. Either way, it made what could have been a good meal pretty bad. I enjoy my food hot when it's supposed to be. Service was barely satisfactory. Won't be going back for a long time!

I love this place and so does my 3 year old daughter. Great place for large family/group events. All of the food is so good and they offer more than just fresh sushi. The chicken fried rice is really good. Beer is fairly cheap as well, their sapporo beer used to be MUCH cheaper but it's expensive now. The yummy yummy rolls are amazing.

Wow!!! The service was awful; I can't remember feeling so insignificant at a restaurant. We were a family of 6 Celebrating a birthday. The food was good but the service absolutely left a bad taste. 4 out of 5 waiters were rude do we were exceptionally grateful for the last one who gave us a smile. We would NOT recommend it. Fix your attitude.

The staff was incredibly rude to my colleague due to them ordering a la cart and us the all you can eat option. Told them rudely they had to sit at a completely different table. My colleagues were so insulted that they left. Our group was then ignored for the rest of night (we brought up our orders ourselves). Honestly I’ve been to a few sushi places and this is by far the best one. I don’t think their kitchen is very clean as I caught a glimpse under the sheet that hung in front of the Entrance to the kitchen. But the food is so good that I pretend It’s not there.

Ordered a chinese combo plate and it was VERY underwhelming. Very small egg roll, the rice was bland and white as if only a splash of soy sauce. The beef and broccoli had one small piece of beef and the breading on the g tao’s chicken was soggy, no crisp what so ever. The overall portion(s) was small. Definitely not worth $16 for the size and especially not the quality.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant with a major buffet. Just about anything you could want in Chinese cuisine. Be prepared to pay through the nose for it though; $20 per person and up. They also have individual meals for a little less, but personally I would only be able to go for a special occasion. It's expensive for the average budget, but worth it.

Amazing the food was really fresh more choices then I could imagine. Service was outstanding. Never been to a restaurant that offered you hot towels to wipe your hands before the meal and after. I was concerned that 29$ for dinner was a bit much until I saw what you got for the money everything you could imagine and then a prime rib meal as well , really happy I went!! I will be back.

Family took me out for birthday dinner. So much food to choose from! North American Chinese food dishes of chicken, fish, beef, vegetable and pasta dishes, sushi, roast beef and all the fixings, eggs, bacon and sausages, soup and fresh salmon. Also a large buffet set up of deserts. They took a picture with a slice of cake with candle. They took a picture which the presented with bill in a magnetic frame. Had a good time.

Mandarin Buffet Restaurants deserve recognition. The buffet is fantastic as is the service and overall restaurant cleanliness. Their buffet items are delicious, made of quality ingredients, they are replenished regularly and seldom out of a dish. I have no problem spending $30 per meal here on weekends. I ordered take out for the first time today and I am equally impressed. I received 6 of their delicious vegetable egg rolls for free since I spent over $48. The dishes were large, hot and delicious. They provided us with complimentary honey twists for dessert. They provided a bag of condiments such as plum sauce, soy sauce (Kikoman), hot mustard and even a lemon wedge in a separate mini zip lock for the golden fried chicken wings ordered. They think of everything - every little detail which most restaurants especially when placing take out orders, pay very little attention to. They are award winning and well deserved at that 🙂

Very good food, attentive service. Everything was nicely prepared... Not overcooked, nicely presented. The dining area is spilt into several rooms which really helps keep the volume down and make it feel more cozy. Cost is in the high end for buffets, but there is prime rib and roast lamb along with the usual Oriental fare.

Excellent food, great portion size. F@#king cold restaurant though! You would think that the employees seeing all the patrons wearing hats, coats, scarves, and mittens ( try using chop sticks with mittens.....not fun!!) would turn up the heat. Also if you like loud club music delivered by a scratched CD over cheap speakers, party on! For myself, I might come back in the summer and give it another try only because the food was very well prepared.

I gave this review 1 star = 0 star for the very poor and devious management of this restaurant. We went there for dinner within a group of 18 people. Before coming in, we were aware that the management set a time limit of 2 hours for all you can eat kind of buffet which food were brought out by waiters. Within the 2 hours, we order some food, the manager whom is by the way also a waiter, told us not to give him any more orders because we had lots of back-up orders which were not out yet. We were sitting there without food on the table and turning our thumbs for some time. I thought to myself, that it is rude to tell customers to stop ordering whereby the business is "ALL YOU CAN EAT" restaurant. By the way, we did not wasted any food or had leftover food, since we were well aware that we had to pay extra for the leftover ones. The part at the end made me more furious, which is our last order which ran 15 min. over our 2h time limit; the waitress told us that was our last order and she won't take any more orders, since our time is up. To me, the 15 minutes over time is not our fault, since they should make up the time they wasted not bringing out the food to us. It seems like the management intentionally took their time to bring out the food late, such that we ran out of the "2 HOURS LIMIT POLICY" which they set. I find this very FOOLISH, DISHONEST and RIDICULOUS on the management part. NO MORE FUSION HOUSE for us ever again for sure!

Went for lunch woth my 3 year old daughter who LOVES salmon and shrimp sushi, not sashimi, at the end of our meal they told me because we didnt eat 5 of the rice they were going to charge me $6!!! For at most $1.50 worth of not eaten food.!! On top of all that when i ordered my steak teriyaki it was WAY over done and so not enough sauce on anything!! Worst experience here ever! And i used to LOVE IT!!! Needless to say i will not be returning!

We went for dinner during a week night. There was a short wait to be seated but less than 5 minutes which was more than reasonable. Our server was prompt and very courteous. The buffet was well presented and replenished constantly, as were our water glasses. The variety is amazing and you can have a healthy tasty dinner out here to suit most tastes from seafood to prime rib and it’s all delicious. Although the seating of tables is close, we didn’t feel crowded and we could carry on a conversation easily. The manager came to each table and introduced herself, leaving her business card. The restaurant was spotless and appeared to have new carpeting. This restaurant is great for a quiet dinner for seniors (20% discount with identification), families, couples and travellers. Bring your appetite. If you come for dinner on a weekend, bring your patience for a long wait or arrive early.

Because this place is so busy the food is always fresh looking and usually pretty good tasting. Wildly over priced for a basic Chinese buffet, in my opinion. For two people on a Saturday night, without alcohol is should not be more expensive than apps, a steak dinner and dessert for 3 at another restaurant. Amazing staff. Very attentive, polite and helpful.

My girlfriend and I went to the Mandarin in London, and as per my prev review you can see we received the best customer service ever there. Now here in Barrie, we went to get the buffet again since now it turned to be my girlfriends new favorite restaurant to eat out at. We go and they inform us nothing is vegan. Not one dish on the buffet menu is vegan. I explained how that can not be true, but they are being very arrogant and say I am completely wrong. Now at this point I ask the manager if since my girlfriend is paying for the buffet, could they make her a few dishes made vegan. They said no unless we pay even more. So my girlfriend had to pay for weekend supper prices (around $40) and all she could of had was fries basic salad and fruit without paying even more money. Just ridiculous. After that experience, i called 4 different mandarin restaurants, and they all explained to me how the London location was correct about the vegan options, while this one in Barrie was completely wrong.

This location was in Barrie we were tired hungry and ready to eat! Everything was amazing from the greeting to farewell. We were seated immediately & offered warm moist towels for our hands. The beverage order was promptly taken & delivered. Then off to the buffet. Admittedly I don't really go for Chinese food but my husband enjoys it immensely. I prefer the prime rib, shrimp and various vegetables. To my glee the plates were heated for hot food & chilled for cold! We also had a table visit from the owner. Checking out our dining experience & service. Which was extremely good. As with it all!!👍

My favourite sushi restaurant. It's A La Carte but I find the prices to be rather reasonable, especially for the more standard rolls. The sushi combos are diverse and definitely where you get the best bang for your buck. They are also open to substitutions if you don't like a particular roll. The place oozes charm, the sushi is great and I simply feel at home there.

Beautiful inside. Has all the food you'd expect from a Chinese buffet and some good seasonal items. Staff has gotten way better over the years. Used to have servers rush to my table the second I used a napkin. The experience is much less robotic now. Entire facility is clean. Always go for the fish room, trust me.

Nice food, well prepared. Decor would benefit with an update though, especially the waiting area which gets very crowded - increased photo opportunities here would also be good. Really enjoyed the sushi, and being able to order direct via the tablet lent to us by the waitress. The free spun candy as we left was a nice touch.

This location is, to me, the best. The variety is great and the food taste fresh. The layout and dinning areas are well maintained and very decorative.when I went the manager was around the dinning rooms making sure everyone and everything was going smoothly. That was nice to see. Good job Ryan Ruan. The choices for children are good. Typical fries and Onion rings and whatnot. Only thing is that the tables in room C are a little close together and you might bump into the seat behind you.

Who doesn't love the Mandarin?! This is obviously the best out of all of their locations and their food and hospitality is great. For anyone who hasn't been to this location you will be really impressed by all the decor and the atmosphere. My favorite room by far is the one with the aquarium. Try to get a seat in this room of you can!

Though I look for the halal restaurant, but Mandarin has excellent menu with lots of seafood and vegetables. Foods are very tasty specially the whole salmon. They have quite a number of deserts. And at end they have this cotton candy which my son likes a lot.

One of my favourite mandarins to go too! In the winter the trees are always perfectly covered in lights to give a special vibe and the service from the staff has really been stepped up over the years, they are really great and if you've never been super helpful. They have a great selection of food and it's not often you eat something that has been sitting out, it's almost always freshly cooked! Great place for larger size parties as well! But it can be quite busy so make sure to book a reservation on weekends and holidays.

My last few orders took over an hour to get dilivered. When I called to ask why I was greeted with a sassy sounding male blamed the driver for not picking it up. It was 1 hour 10 mins late at that time. Today I tried again and my roles sat for so long that the tempura in my role was a literally a paste. Not crunch like I ordered. The same male tried to tell me that tempura is supposed to be a paste. I've never herd or witnessed this anywhere els. Sorry if it's real but I doubt something fried should be almost a liquid. This used to be a favorite spot for me but unfortunately the customer service had driven me off.

This store has gone tremendously downhill in the past few months. Old ingredients are used which leads to not only an overpriced sushi but also a tasteless one. The service provided is often abrupt and slow which is disappointing. One small lunch will usually be more expensive then Osaka Sushi, an all you can eat, fresh sushi restaurant which is just nefarious.

Amazing selection, lovely and attentive staff, great family atmosphere, and superb management! One of the best mandarins I have ever been to in terms of service! Everyone is so attentive and genuine! The manager Myles even came up and introduced himself. Just wow! Best food experience I have ever had for the price. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious! The service was so good that I NEVER needed to ask for anything at all. I also felt very welcomed as a guest. Will definitely be making this my go to mandarin now! Only issue is it’s near the downtown core so no parking. It right on the subway line so we just take the subway! Not a big deal for up. If you are willing to walk a few blocks then you can find free parking as well, we did that once before. Been here about 3 times and today was the best experience. The management has made us committed customers now

Be prepared to enter an alternate universe. One of constant piano music from the Love Boat with 87 selections of fried food and random salads that no one eats sprinkled with the sushi chef continually saying “welcome to Mandarin“ over and over again. Actually the piano music wasn’t too bad. A few Christmas songs in April always adds to the ambience. If you want to cling to your soul then do not come here. Spicy tuna roll wasn’t that bad though. Nice waiter Joe.

Lots of variety, but average at best. Prices keep creeping up as well. I only come here when I'm treating a large group for the sake of a consistent bill. Lots of other/better options in the area for a regular night out. Their customer service is always on point though.

Buffets of any kind have never been my favorite and we try to avoid then whenever possible. However this visit was particularly disappointing. The service is excellent. The place is clean. The decor is very tired. But the Chinese food was mostly overcooked to be almost inedible. Some dishes were ok but those in sauces in warming trays had been there too long. The roast beef was good because it is sliced to order. Desserts were delicious and plentiful. As a general rule Chinese food is delicious, not expensive, comes hot and made to order so unless you really want to gorge yourself I don't see the point in eating reheated mediocre fare.

I have come to love this place since the new management took over. Staff are amazing people, love to help you out, suggest items that you might try based on your tastes. Only downside is the decor which is old but it's understandable why it's still up. It's expensive and requires closing up for a bit. Keep up the good stuff guys!

Great food! Only reason for not 5 stars isn't because of food but the overall experience. You definitely just feel like a ticket number and have to go out of your way to find someone to do something simple like fill your beverage. BUT this is only really during busy times. Other times it's great!

Really good buffet. They had great selection, and the quality was excellent. The staff was also attentive and helpful. (Note: Food is ordered via tablet.) The dessert was super great. They had really good shaved ice and some ice cream. (I recommend the shaved ice.) Decor and atmosphere was also pretty good.

Great variety of pan asian dishes you can expect them to be decent but not extraordinary. We tries several things. They also have a dessert and soup and salad buffet with a small variety. Service is not bad and ambiance is nice but it gets drafty as it is an open space and a draft flows in with every person who enters or leaves. You order via tablet. Drinks are generous portions. Overall no complaints. I would recommend it and would come again.

Modern, atmospheric, and delicious are some of the words that come to mind when I think of 168 Sushi. The restaurant is quite large, so we've never been forced to wait on seating. It's well organized and staffed. You order from a tablet, then the food is brought to your table hot and fresh from the kitchen. Yummy! Then you get to eat while enjoying the neon lights or delicate flower mural. The entire restaurant is a work of art. Can't wait to go back. Personal recommendations: pork (soup) dumplings, salmon teriyaki, and chicken cutlets.

First time customer. Overall good experience but it would be nice if the servers would be more gentle with the plates. Me and my dad we’re sitting next to where the plates are cleared and the noise was so bad it interrupted our conversation and meal numerous times. The 4 stars are for the food quality and it’s still a nice all you can eat sushi restaurant, but it’s a little pricy considering the atmosphere. Would still recommend.

I was in this place yesterday with my husband and 2 kids. Horrible experience ever!! Not a fresh food at all!! They bring not what you ordered, but half of what you ordered in a very extensive period of time. The shrimps tempura tastes like old tempura with very old pieces of shrimps!! The "green tea" stinks like a pure chlorine, and just a little of the brown-ish color: is this a tea? Are you serious?! The waitresses are running and rushing all over the place, but not attentive to you at all, in few words their attitude is "catch me if you can!". NO value for your money whatsoever!! Avoid this place!!!!

However, the service should be faster since they have iPads in the tables. Some of the orders come mixed up, and I think the lack stuff to attend the amount of people they serve during prime time.

Bought a noodle soup with tempura shrimp, as well as the exotic roll. The ramen was ok.. wish they had ask if I want the chilli powder cuz I would have said no cuz that’s for my kids and they don’t eat spicy stuff. The exotic roll was not very good, mainly because of the mango :( I love mango but the mango they used for the sushi was not ripe! It was sour and crispy like a pickled daikon.. instead of soft n sweet :(

It is my first time buying here. I have very mixed feelings about the food. I bought a soft shell crab sushi burger. The combo itself was very interesting, the shrimp chips was good, and the miso soup was a tad bit salty. The major disappointment of this meal was the burger itself. Although the ingredients were rather fresh, in the middle of eating, I realized the gills on the soft shell crab were still attached. Trying to dissect the soft shell crab to get rid of gills made the burger really messy to eat. It makes me skeptical what other things were not taken out during the cleaning of the crab.

This is one of the better run Sushi Shop's in the downtown core. They are very busy during peak lunch hour times but they have an army of sushi chefs that are very good at processing your order promptly. I like that they offer the addition of free miso soup with your sushi order. My favourite specialty sushi is the Diablo Combo which I recommend if you like some heat.

Avoid at all cost!!! We used to like this place but now they have really let everything slide. The fish on the sushi was not fresh, they were loose and fast with the order not really giving use what we ordered, the general tso was rancid!!!! And the floors had been washed with a dirty mop that left a ton of water on the floor, so much water I had to avoid the puddles on my way to the bathroom. Also if you are in a wheelchair the accessible stall is broken. We are almost guaranteed to get sick tonight from the chicken. Yuck!

Sashimi was not fresh,sticky and shrimp tempura was uncooked. Literally, feel sick. Server was very polite but do not visit during closing. The Pad Thai literally smelt like a fusion mix of vomit and trash, I guess it goes with the name. Safe enough to say this place wasn’t good, the sushi was hit or miss depending on what you ordered and the dishes followed the same principle. Who knows in the next few hours I may be admitted into a hospital for salmonella due to the food I consumed here. Oh and I also found vomit in the washroom stall so that might say something in its own.

This is a nice enjoyable experience, the food is good and the service is usually very quick, but I've gone several times where the waitresses were absolutely rude. Once I ordered 1 California roll as well as 1 of several other things, the waitress assumed my 1 was a 2 and brought me twice as much food! Including some items I never even ordered! When I said that I only wanted one of each and pointed out the food I never ordered she simply argued with me and denied what i said. Ridiculous.
