Golden Fish and Chips is a fabulous place to eat in. Our son has an allergy that makes it difficult to eat at a lot of restaurants but not only does Golden make special accommodations to keep him safe, they remember him every time he comes in. That makes us all feel pretty good. Also, the fish and chips are excellent. I would recommend them to anyone!

Average place, good fish. Nice atmosphere, friendly enough staff. The food was actually quite good, and not terribly pricey. It isn't an incredible experience. The waitress was adequate - brought food but no refills. Friendly enough but more interested in other stuff. The restaurant itself is in a strip mall and tries to feel better, but really can't. Certainly experienced worse, this was safe and convenient and comfortable.

We'd been to Golden Fish and Chips before and the food was good. However, this time we had to get up and leave after I witnessed a worker come out of the bathroom without washing his hands. I then saw him in the kitchen picking something out of a deep fryer basket. Not likely to eat there again.

I had to physically come around to see the order on register to correct everything. I think it would be wise to let someone else take orders especially on the phone.

What a great little resteraunt ! We've passed by this storefront many times saying we should try it and finally got around to visiting. It wont be the last time ! The fish and chips (why would you order the burger !) were cooked to perfection, crispy English style batter (available gluten free too !) fresh cut chips and a generous helping of homemade coleslaw. The staff were great and the feel of the resteraunt would remind you of being on the East Coast. Good value and just right portions.

Ordered through skip the dishes at 6pm and the delivery driver didn't show up at the restaurant until 7pm which is when the store is supposed to close... Not only did they stay open to wait for the driver but they re made all the food so it would be fresh and they did it all without us calling to complain, they're the ones that called us to apologize for skip the dishes being late. Food was priced good and tasted amazing would definitely eat there again but will never order anything from skip the dishes in the future.

Had the haddock special for lunch today..$8.50!!..way cheaper than a greasy burger and fries. Service was quick...a great place to stop on lunch. Portion size is perfect.. not too many fries (which how many times would just ended up wasted)...and I do prefer my fish with light batter which they will happily do upon request.

This better be the best fish I've ever had! I understand it is Good Friday, but never have I ever had to wait 2 hours AFTER placing my order for my food. Most places are pumping out fish fast and furious! They have a production line. Golden literally has 4 people working at the front and one of them is the one taking the orders! The fact that you can only cook 12 fish at a time should mean pre-ordering SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! It is now 7pm...stop taking orders and telling people over 2 hours waiting time.

The food here is very delicious! The theme is great and is consistent with their menu. The space is bit tight but the staff are very nice and accommodating. I am health conscious and coming here was a great treat to my usual diet. I would recommend this place to other to try.

When we first arrived, this place looked like a dump from the outside. Once we entered, there were no seats available so we had to sit at their so called "bar". Later on, once we where given our meals, we asked for plates because we were sharing what we ordered and the waitress just left the plates and the cutlery on the table for us to organize ourselves. Later on that day, I got food poisoning as a result of eating there food. It appears that the only reason why this place has decent reviews is that the locals prefer to eat here instead of cooking their own meals. Unless you want to get food poisoning, I advise that you stay well clear of this place.

I'm not a big BBQ fan, so imagine my surprise when dining here became the Mecca of all things food. The service was friendly and funny! And the food was quite possibly the BEST thing I've ever eaten. Please don't tell my gran I said that. I had the half pulled pork - half brisket sandwich, with hush puppies. The food was tasty, tender, juicy, finger-licking... you know what, go try it for yourself... I need more right now. I will be back. And so should you!

Great locally run BBQ place and once shown on the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here. The food here is known for big portions and their brisket. The owner is really nice to talk too if you have a chance. I would probably come here more often. It is a really fun place to visit for something different.

You waitress is fine, the old lady(owner?) was rude af. So I had to seat myself and take the menu to counter to order, fine, but she spent 7min talking to the customer in front of me. After that, she looked at me then turned around to talk to another staff and totally ignored me.... I was like WHAT?? The young waitress saw that and came to help me. Food wise, I ordered fried chicken with fries. Took 34min to serve and the chicken is rubbish. Not juicy at all, hard like a rock.

We ordered for 7 people. Asked and paid for haddock and got something other than what we ordered. We originate from the UK and have lived in Canada for 10 years so we know what we are taking about when it comes to fish & chips. What we got was not cooked inside, still wet and chewy The batter was thick to mask the extra small slithering of fish. They even shut up shop as we just sat down outside to eat so we couldn't even tell them how bad it was as they ditched us.

Have been here twice now and have to say that it's hands down the best fish and chip place in the city. First time here I had the halibut and it was delicious. The second time at Fresco's I had the shrimp Po Boy on the owners recomendation and all I can say is wow! Best Po Boy that I've eaten outside of New Orleans. The bottom line is that I highly recommend Fresco's Fish and Chips and would consider it a must eat establishment in Toronto .

Frescos is a hidden gem in the Kensington market area of Toronto.. The service is fast & friendly.. The food is incredible with the Halibut being the best I’ve had this side of the pond!! Having a crappy Monday working out of town and I needed something to eat. Found Uncle Harrys on Google and felt like some fish and chips so I gave it a shot. What a treat! I was greeted with incredibly friendly service and a menu recommendation for a great lunch special. Waited less than 5 minutes and then the food came out. Talk about quality. It was hot, fresh and so tasty you wouldn't believe it. I left Uncle Harrys in a better mood than I'd been in all day. Well done sir. Your service and quality of food will bring me back out of town just for a bite to eat!

A great staple for a good fish and chips meal.We find the portions to be more than plenty. We had 2 orders of haddock and chips at lunch time. One order was a little under cooked for my taste but still good. The next time we go for lunch I think we will get 2 orders of fish and 1 chips. We also had an order of fritters that was more than plentiful but delicious.

A little more in price but very good quality. The cut and portion of the halibut was superior to most I've frequented. It's not oily and the tartar sauce is homemade and the entire restaurant is clean. The dining area is spacious and comfortable to sit in. The servers are all polite and friendly with smiles. So yes it's one of my top favourite fish and chip restaurants in the GTA

This place is decent, albeit expensive. It seems like they raised their prices recently. $18 for halibut and chips? I don’t even think Old York charges this much but nevertheless for a 4oz piece of halibut I’d rather shell out that kinda dough at Old York instead I here. Stick to the specials (usually always cod) and you can’t go wrong. I’m a repeat customer for years now.

Entered the restaurant got seated by a unknown server. just dropped my mean off and left. never told about the specials or something to drink. waited 30 mins to get no service. Not even a drink was asked. The server I could hear talking to all the members at the bar but not paying attention to the ones in the dinning room. I ended up walking out because of how terrible the not excising service was. I could have went to a buffet and gotten better service. Not impressed at all.

Bland, cafeteria-like or fast food restaurant decor. I find it pricey for the neighbourhood and for lunch. I have dietary needs so I get salads, no batter or chips. They have generous sized salads presented without much imagination. My small Greek salad was quite large, but visually uninteresting, and had three olives on it. Three. Hahahaha. I had "clam chowder" that appeared to be a clam-flavored potato soup thickened with starch. Broth was translucent, not opaque. It was tasty, but lacked clams or significant cream. The server was very helpful and pleasant. That was a plus. It was my second visit. Not sure I'd go back, just because it's not bad, but not a great value. A soup and a salad at lunch shouldn't cost me twenty bucks after tax and tip and be "meh".

I love halibut house try to eat once month. Oder my reg 2 fish one chip but instead of halibut got deal on haddock try everything once it was good lots of frys but got to eat quick. Nice waiting and clean roomy atmosphere. Every halibut house iv bin to has been grait except the first one in Ajax it was nice but did not give me halibut what I asked for and paid more for. That was like 10 years ago. It was good though. Know your fish. They have a lot more on the menu then back in the day, batters mushrooms is a fave, what and breakfast for being a franchise it's been the same good quality since my first visit price is right

Omg wow! Was there for the first time today with my boss and such a great place. Food was amazing our server was lovely and best rock station playing the whole time, 80s metal! Cute set up, very cozy and clean, great gluten free options will be going back with my hubby, oh and you must try the chips ..so addictive.

Food is always delicious and service exceptional. I love that the bar area is full with a bunch of their regulars. Just wish it was a bigger space sometimes. Love the patio in the summer too!!

Five of us had lunch here (all seniors.) They have numerous draft beers (and a wine list that I did not read) ; at lunch, the choice of entrees was a bit limited but they had several others on the blackboard. I had the Philly roast beef (with cheese on it, plus fries and a bit of coleslaw) for $16. This is not an inexpensive place and the beer is not cheap either. But it has a nice, pub-like atmosphere and the service at lunch today was friendly and efficient. Two of our group had the fish and chips (cod) and loved it. So, overall, I gave it four stars.

First time eating here (fish n chips place next door was closed) well lucky for us! Food was awesome. I had the elk burger with fries and an organic ale. The burger was juicy and delicious! Hubby had fish n chips that were really good also! We will return!!

Badass garlicky caesar salad with big chunks of bacon, nicely done. Minus one star because your menu was missing something. I just don't know what that is.

Fantastic dinner. I had the duck leg and it was cooked to perfection with crispy skin and juicy dark meat. My only complaint is the burly that came along with it was over salted. But overall great experience. My friend had a slice of chicken curry pie which was good too.
