The Royal City is a hard one to rate. I love it for take out, the food is very good and for a relatively good price, going there has always made me feel a bit uncomfortable somehow. The restaurant screams for repairs, even if the buffet is quite nice with a good selection, it feels dingy inside. It might do even better if they upgraded it and brought it into 2019 instead of 1975, give it a good clean, paint walls, fix bathrooms. Still a good place to eat.

Smaller buffet overall but still a good selection. I think about 20 items, plus small salad bar, soup and dessert. Overall good food. Very friendly service. They're constantly refilling items. Everything I had was fresh and hot and tasted good.

Worst place you can eat at for dinner they charge you 15.99! And there’s only around 15 things to pick from and it’s mostly veggies barely any meat only good thing was the fried chicken wings everything tasted cheap and the jello they provided smelled really really bad also I got the veggies and there was a piece of hair in it and when I asked for the check I asked are you going to do anything about it he said no..... then I call in they said why didn’t you tell us when you were there and the lady speaking on the phone I already stated I told her and she said okay next time you come I’ll give you 10% off and when I said I’m not coming she said okay and hung up worst place unless you don’t have a good taste in food place was dark barley any lights I recommend going to mandarin only best buffet you can get and has the best food unlike here if you ever get a piece of hair in your food they will not care only 1 lady was nice the rest did not care and are not respectful do not eat here if I can give a 0 star I would also this other customer saw the waiter drop the spoon and picked it up and put it on the table and the waiter said it’s clean and wiped with his shirt!!!! Honestly horrible service anything happen with your food they do not care!!! Come back next time we will take your money again you only pay 3% tax!!!! You get 1.79$ off your next buffet I would have been okay if it was free or half price but they did not do that they said come back next time I don’t recommend coming here. I will definitely not ever be coming back here! I think I got food poisoning!!! Eat here and then 15 minutes later your stomach will start to hurt!!

Pretty decent prices with giant portion sizes. You can get an enormous meal for much cheaper than you might pay somewhere else. Atmosphere is pretty typical for a Canadian Chinese restaurant. Food is a solid 4/5.

This is the most authentic Cantonese food you can find in Guelph. The boss (Mr Huang) chose the best ingredient for each dishes. If you choose the traditional Cantonese dishes in the menu, it would take a bit longer to prepare. But the wait is totally worth it!

I had heard some disturbing things about my usual Chinese place, so I ventured out and tried Woks Taste, it had some decent reviews. Well I am glad I did, great food, good prices, and way better quality. I cannot comment on the service as I use date take out. But the staff was warm welcoming friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend and I know where i am going next time, the Woks taste!!

This place is amazing! It's got everything you want in a restaurant! The portions are HUGE and very affordable, the service is amazing and their kids are super cute! And most importantly the food is delicious! Seriously it is SO good. The egg rolls are the best I've had in years! I go there just for the Chinese fried noodles, so addicting. When the food comes out it is super hot! I have a 23 minute drive home, and the food was still too hot to eat by the time I got there, which is great! They also keep the restaurant clean. Wish I could give more then 5 stars, I won't get Chinese food anywhere else!

I always stop this place whenever I'm in Guelph. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. I always get the Special Garlic Shrimp and Seafood Lo Mein or Shrimp Lo Mein. I would recommend the shrimp first and foremost. The shrimp are just amazing. Ask for some sweet lemon sauce to go with them as a dip. Huge shrimp and a lot of them. Just what I want my plate of shrimp to be. The lo mein is a sizeable portion. The noodles are delicious and they load them up with a ton of vegetables and seafood. Sometimes I finish the whole plate but not always, leaving me with some for home. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a tasty Chinese food place.

The only place I order Chinese food from. 4 stars because it can get pretty pricey if you get delivery and pay with debit or credit due to extra charges. Food always arrives early for me, and always arrives hot. Vegetables always taste fresh and depending on the dish, crisp. Meats are always well cooked, never had any chewy beef or anything. One of my favourite dishes is the sesame chicken. They take good note of any special instructions and Imve never had any issues with that (less sauce, extra veggies etc). Delivery drivers are always kind and professional. Great food

5 Star Value - $5 for a box of food is unreal. This is the go-to place after a night out. I haven't tried delivery or an actual order before, I stick to the buffet. Have never gotten or felt sick after so that is a good sign! Has yet to disappoint.

Amazing selection, lovely and attentive staff, great family atmosphere, and superb management! One of the best mandarins I have ever been to in terms of service! Everyone is so attentive and genuine! The manager Myles even came up and introduced himself. Just wow! Best food experience I have ever had for the price. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious! The service was so good that I NEVER needed to ask for anything at all. I also felt very welcomed as a guest. Will definitely be making this my go to mandarin now! Only issue is it’s near the downtown core so no parking. It right on the subway line so we just take the subway! Not a big deal for up. If you are willing to walk a few blocks then you can find free parking as well, we did that once before. Been here about 3 times and today was the best experience. The management has made us committed customers now

Be prepared to enter an alternate universe. One of constant piano music from the Love Boat with 87 selections of fried food and random salads that no one eats sprinkled with the sushi chef continually saying “welcome to Mandarin“ over and over again. Actually the piano music wasn’t too bad. A few Christmas songs in April always adds to the ambience. If you want to cling to your soul then do not come here. Spicy tuna roll wasn’t that bad though. Nice waiter Joe.

Lots of variety, but average at best. Prices keep creeping up as well. I only come here when I'm treating a large group for the sake of a consistent bill. Lots of other/better options in the area for a regular night out. Their customer service is always on point though.

Buffets of any kind have never been my favorite and we try to avoid then whenever possible. However this visit was particularly disappointing. The service is excellent. The place is clean. The decor is very tired. But the Chinese food was mostly overcooked to be almost inedible. Some dishes were ok but those in sauces in warming trays had been there too long. The roast beef was good because it is sliced to order. Desserts were delicious and plentiful. As a general rule Chinese food is delicious, not expensive, comes hot and made to order so unless you really want to gorge yourself I don't see the point in eating reheated mediocre fare.

I have come to love this place since the new management took over. Staff are amazing people, love to help you out, suggest items that you might try based on your tastes. Only downside is the decor which is old but it's understandable why it's still up. It's expensive and requires closing up for a bit. Keep up the good stuff guys!

I came here with a friend and we were so pleasantly surprised! We had such great service and the food was great. I was so excited finding this place being a vegetarian and all the food we ordered did not disappoint. We ordered the dim sum dishes, which is almost impossible to find as a vegetarian, as well as the pan-fried dumplings which are a must. But everything is veggie or vegan, delicious and reasonably priced especially if you plan on sharing...even my non-vegetarian friend was convinced. Definitely recommend!

I visited Zen Gardens recently for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of menu options as well as the quality of the food. Upon arrival, I was promptly seated by a friendly and attentive staff member. My miso soup, dumplings, and veggie sushi platter arrived at my table quickly and tasted great. The restaurant itself is relatively small and there isn't a lot of available parking, but neither of these factors negatively affected my experience.

My husband and I visited this zen garden location after a long drive. I had been to other Zen garden locations and wasn't disappointed, so I figured this location would be no different. We were shocked by house converted into dining rooms but were able to put that aside. We ordered our food, the server promptly left and we suddenly heard a microwave going off. A few moments later she came back with my husbands lunch. His salad was literally a piece of lettuce, and a slice of tomato that clearly wasn't fresh. He was waiting for my food, to begin eating. My food took about 10 minutes longer due to the fact that his was microwaved and mine wasn't. I ordered the pineapple friends rice. The pineapples were really gross and again weren't fresh. We spent about $50 and were really upset at the price based on the quality. We will not be going back to this location.

Sadly it's all show :(. I ordered a lunch special and it came on a sectioned tray with a fork and was at best mediocre cafeteria food. The staff is nice and I like what they are doing, just if they could do it right. Only because they are good people I don't rate it two stars. The hot and sour soup was... Soup, not what I was expecting, but not in a good way. How does one give polite constructive criticism?

Also, the dining area could use a facelift, very old-fashioned. Location is alright but could be a little tricky getting into the plaza and out being right on Guelph street so close to am intersection.

Good mandarin location and great food. Not as fancy as the one on steeles but not necessarily a bad thing. I find the quality of the food at this location better than others. Very clean inside. The staff is nice not pushy like other locations as well. No complaints here.

It's a decent buffet restaurant. We went for a Sunday lunch buffet that costed 22.99 plus tax. The options were plenty, especially their salad counter was amazing. I gave them 3 stars due to the fact that despite the price on a higher side, it doesn't include fountain drinks (which doesn't cost the restaurants a lot). Sweet section had so many options but most of them didn't taste that well. Service was amazing and the hosts were very quick in removing used plates.

Been here a couple of times, once with the family and once with a large group. Both times we were seated quickly. Parking is good and it's easy to find. Food is quite tasty and there are a lot of options for appetizers, main course and dessert. Decent drink options. It's a bit smaller than the one next to the 410, but the decor is quite nice. Would visit again.

Server sat us down immediately , clean tables nice environment. Food was fantastic. So much to choose from. Everything had great flavor. Did i mention so much to choose from???? Food deserts everything you can think of. Great place. These people work hard to make your visit great from the chefs to the servers to the greeters... Check it out you will enjoy. Overall, experience was good. The food was all very good, although the kitchen did seem to fall behind at times on some popular items. Service was very friendly (thanks Kenny!) however we our drinks were forgotten about and we had to ask for them a second time. While there were a couple of misses tonight, generally it was a typically good Mandarin experience!

l love Canadian-Chinese food, it always brings back fond memories and is a staple comfort food for our family. Win is now our new go to after many years of satisfying meals from old school Royal City. Win is new school, super fresh, delicate, with greater flavour nuances. Gone is the sickly candy red SS sauce, replaced with an opaque orange/red sauce that is the perfect marriage to their uniquely shaped version of chicken balls that are so delicate and tender. The sesame chicken has perfect sweetness and a proper tangy sauce. It's amazing how many restaurants cannot master chicken fried rice being that's it's a staple of most takeout orders. Well, Win nails it. The rice is moist but not sticky, the vegetables are cooked al dente and seasoned with care. Portions are a little smaller than the competition but the quality and flavour more than makes up for the difference. A must try!!

Win Chinese is alright but I prefer the general taste and quality of Double Dragon and China Express. I ordered for delivery and while everything was prepared the way I would expect, there's not enough combination/dinner options (without having to buy a bunch of individual items) and it was just a bit expensive for what you get, in comparison to the others.

Great food and excellent staff! They were wonderful with our whole group of 7 (including 2 young kids). They were very accommodating with not much pressure. They're buffet was always full, fresh and delicious! I highly recommend it but I do recommend a reservation since they get quite busy :)

We had a great meal! Server, hostess and manager were all very friendly. Food was typical Chinese buffet food but that's exactly what we wanted, and it was all hot and fresh. We had a great time! We don't do a buffet too often, so we were glad it was good. Left full and happy :)

We go every Christmas day for dinner now. Maybe one other time a year. It's never been anything special before but Christmas day 2018, changed my mind 100%. When I booked our reservation, I asked for the quietest corner possible because I have a special needs child. I was told on the phone, it wouldn't be an issue. It was overly packed when we got there, but when I finally got up to the counter to check in, the man told me they couldn't accommodate us. My poor daughter was already in hysterics & melting down from sensory overload. It was 100x busier than the previous Christmas. I explained that I was promised they'd be able to accommodate her & he refused. Thankfully a manager stepped up (I assume he was a manager, possibly the owner). I explained the situation to him. He explained to me, that they're not suppose to make promises like that for big holidays like Christmas. But given that I was promised, he saw the state my daughter was in, he had the perfect table for us, that gave her a spot where NO ONE would be able to walk around her but we wouldn't be buried in the room either. She had an easy escape from the room if she needed it. We had a wonderful dinner. Our waiter was AMAZING & took his time to let my daughter ask for the things she needed. He didn't rush her, he got down on her level to talk to her & made her feel special and part of the group. BEST restaurant experience at Mandarin EVER!

Staff and management were really good. Place is clean and tidy. Food wasn’t the greatest, but in their defence there were only 3 tables occupied. They gave us a discount to compensate for the quality and said they could make it fresh next time we ask.

The food is always good. Anyone whose been to a Mandarin restaurant will know it's not cheap, especially during "weekend" hours. But I like this location because it's not as busy others I've been to like the 2 in Brampton.

I’d say this is the worst Mandarin I’ve been too, waiting service is great but that’s where it ended. We went for lunch on Sunday at 1pm with a reservation. We waited for about 10 minutes to get a seat, they were very slow to bring food out, a lot of the trays were empty. I asked three times when the beef was coming out. Each time it was 5 minutes. I waited 45 minutes and never got any. The grilled chicken was gone each time I was up, I had to ask about it. The lady finally put some on to cook while I was standing there. We went up for desert and wanted some grilled pineapple. Guess what, the lady when to check the fridge and said there was none left. Losing the Crab legs has lost the Mandarin business for sure, but now this experience won’t bring me back for awhile.

Hands down best Hakka place I've ever been too. The quality is out of the world. Portions are very generous as well. I am very happy that they don't cut any corners. Owner is a very nice guy. He is also the head chef and he makes sure that all the costumers are satisfied. I drive from Kitchener to eat there and everytime it's been a pleasure.

Went my my family for dinner on a Saturday night. The place had a few customers that were enjoying their meals. We were promptly seated and given menus. When it came time to take the order as we'd never tried many things in the menu the server was nice enough to explain every dish we enquired about. In the end we ordered, had the food brought to us piping hot and full of flavour. We did a mix of chicken lollipops, soup, noodle based dishes and rice based and were not disappointed. The servings are very generous and very tasty.

My family has been going to China Express since we moved to Guelph 7 years ago. The family that runs the place is wonderful. The food is fresh, served hot, and the quantity happily feeds growing children and adults with leftovers for lunches. Should we eventually leave Guelph, it will be something that I will miss.

This is our go-to Chinese restaurant which we generally take-out from. A long-term Guelph restaurant with friendly staff and quick service, even when not phoning ahead! They have delicious fare in both "Americanized" Chinese food as well as more traditional tastes too including a nice selection of yummy Cantonese and Sichuan flavours.

2.5 I have been there a half dozen times and for the most part the food is ok, the portions large and the staff friendly. However, I went there the other day and ordered my usual spicy vegetable noodle dish and although the portion was still large, the flavor was lacking, the vegetables were not fresh (broccoli tasted off, mushrooms were wrinkly and rubbery) and there was so much grease I had a hard time eating it. I am hoping the proprietors read this. A vegetable noodle dish costs 1-2 dollars at most to make, much less than a meat dish--so please make sure the vegetables are at least decent and save the going off veggies for stocks.

Hmmmm not sure about these reviews. Soggy Manchurian Chicken, General Tao’s chicken had a weird chemical taste and the fried rice tasted weirdly enough like hay or grass with frozen mixed vegetables in it. Kids hated the sweet and sour chicken too. 4 strike outs for us. I added a vegetable dish at suggestion of the guy at counter and not sure what I received....pakora maybe? It contained small green chopped up chilies that were freaking HOT!!!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED eating here... Until i found the largest moving maggot I have ever seen in my life in my broccoli. As grossed out as I was, on another occasion my husband ate there and found another Maggot. I mean thats his own fault given that he already knew my experience. This place was my favourite place to eat at the Georgetown MP. However, I can not stomach the chance of eating there again :'(
