Used to work across from here and always heard good things about it. Finally was able to try it and have to say it was well worth the wait. The food and service was amazing and loved that they had a non-alcoholic drinks too.

Atmosphere was good food was phenomenal. Ordered the AAA Atlantic 14oz boneless ribeye. Had a negative experience with server after food mix up though. Normally would be okay but service didn't meet expectation for this fine dining experience. Probably won't be back.

A fantastic high end steak house. We appreciated how though it's high end, my family and I still felt comfortable (even though we typically go to more family style restaurants). Word of note, between the American striploin, Canadian striploin, and the tenderloin (your "cheaper options") we found the Canadian striploin the most flavorful. The ceasar salad is made from scratch at your table, and shareable. Would recommend for a fancy night out.

We had an event prior to our reservation and we were coming in a little late. I called Cut and they said it was okay. They kept the kitchen open for us and served us delicious food even though it was after closing hours. The service is extremely professional and I would recommend Cut to anyone who wants a good evening with amazing food.

Went here for dine around to try it out. They werent doing it this weekend (go figure). Alas we wanted to try the place out anyways so we stayed. Ordered tenderloin and scallops. Scallops were large, but $22 for two scallops seemed a bit steep. The tenderloin was meh. Nothing special. To be honest, costco steaks are better. The lady next to us ordered a striploin. And it was thin and didnt look appetizing. In my opinion, this steakhouse just isnt worth the hefty price tag. Service was amazing though.

We were downstairs at shuck cuts casual bar. Had oysters and a seafood plate. It was ok. Nothing special and over priced. I have eaten upstairs several times and it is solid but expensive but Shuck just was not worth the price.

Enjoyed a great evening here. Everything was amazing! Extensive menu. My wife and I both had steaks and they were perfectly prepared and delicious. Appetizers wonderful and I would recommend sharing. Bag of donuts for dessert was a real treat. The service was outstanding. Looking forward to going back!

I ordered a medium done steak as I am used to. It was quite dry, not juicy enough and even a bit cold. I suspect my steak had been waiting for my side dish to get done (potato fingers). I expect something better when I pay 50 CAD for a piece of meat. The service was very pleasant thus I gave 3 stars and not only 2.

I love this place. I always sit at their bar which is massive. They have a great selection of food and I love their appetizers which are very affordable. This is definitely a place meant for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. The bar staff are very helpful and accommodating, as is the kitchen.

I had to wait for 15 minutes before they offer me to be seated, at first they told me one minute , they will get back to me, 1 minute gone, 5 mins gone, the waiter and waitress just walked by as if I’m not there, they just looked at me, I can tell that they are avoiding to have eye contact with me, then the rest of the customers started staring at me. So embarrassing. Will be the first and last time will visit this place.

I originally rated these folks a 4 star but have been in a few times since and not had quite the level of service as before. I know they can do better. They still have plenty of seating so can accommodate large numbers and they don't rush you out the door. However, for a steak place their steaks are just average and food in general is about average.

Lived in Halifax since 2012 - moved out of Halifax 2018- moving back 2019 and finally decided to stop here, I'm so glad we did as many times as I've gone by this place. Amazing Quality food, very friendly staff, we arrived as a set for 6, 3 toddlers and 3 adults I ordered the advertised 2 steak med rare option at the door with potatoes, Cole slaw, a bun and a glass of water, two orders of haddock bites with fries for 11.99 each and 3 cheese pizzas with Shirley Temples, we had an option for free desert for the kids but we were timed for an appointment. I have my chefs certificate and personally I'm pretty picky about food because I can cook it home, the steak was impeccable with their signature flavors. The flavors were amazing, textures just melted in my mouth. Nothing was left in my plate. Yummy. The coleslaw I can tell is freshly made in house, I love a good slaw. I tried some of the fries in the other plates as well as a piece of the fish bites, a bite of the pizza for the kids. Fish was a crunchy batter like an in house possible own blend of a shake n bake type of deal. Was fresh fish, the kitchen is right in front of you while you're seated so you can watch everything while you eat/ wait. The crunchy batter could of used maybe a bit more flavor to enhance the fish more. A bit of sea salt and fresh ground pepper to the mix and a tiny bit of chilli powder, fresh dill on top for garnish instead of chives. And a lemon was not on the plate. The pizza sauce tastes like spaghetti sauce with own flavors in it, but for the kids this was great for the price as it was an 8-10 inch pizza cut into 4 per child. They loved it so that's all that matters along with my childhood favorite, " the Shirley Temple" The name of this place tells you their main menu in this place is steak. I'm definitely going back. I want to try the biggest steak they have next time I go.

My second time here ever and again, the amazing service was as good as the meal. You can tell the staff enjoy their jobs here - super friendly and great with recommendations. Our meal was made even better with our interaction with our server, Carol. It's people like Carol that continue to bring customers back. Oh - and the food was delicious - home cooked feel and flavours. We will be back again soon! Recommend the homemade desserts too!

I like that they have booths that can fit 6 people, food is always good, I think something's up with there grill tho half my steak was fully cooked and the other almost raw! But they were very apologetic when they saw it, other than that always have had good meals from there, love the steak salad and steak sandwich!

We went here for birthday steaks. We both ordered the 10oz New York strip. The steak had 4oz of fat that you couldn’t eat, plates were mixed up at the table. For $25 you’d expect a little more care put into a piece of meat. The attached photo is the steak I bought from the grocery store afterwards and for a 1/3 of the price and much better.

Worst experience ever. Sat across from the kitchen. And the whole time I there was a cook there cooking food and kept touching and rubbing his nose and I told the waitress and she said she told the manager. But I am unsure if that happened

Our family of 5 took the ferry across from Dartmouth for a late dinner. We looked for something on the waterfront and stumbled across Stayner's. It had a nice patio and kids menu & due to the warm weather we sat outside. Our server was fantastic from start to finish. The kids got their menu's and crayons to keep occupied. My wife and I enjoyed the fish taco's which were absolutely amazing!! I topped mine with a pint of the local Garrison red ale which was a great addition. The food was hot and delicious, the ambience inside was great too as there was live music. Overall, I'd go back whenever we visit N.S. again! Highly recommended!!

Always enjoy stopping in here.... especially after a long work week, it is so relaxing. My partner and I come here at least once a month for dinner, and are never disappointed. The food and staff are amazing. This place makes you feel welcomed and appreciates your business. Their owners/managers are very hands on too, they care. We actually have a gift card for $100 for The Keg that we received as a gift four years ago that we have yet to use because we continually return to Bâton Rouge. My partner actually perfers the steak here in comparison to The Keg, he is in no hurry to use the gift card.

We, a group of 9, were two nights in a row in Steakhouse Baton Rouge, Halifax, Canada. We all had different dishes but we all came to the same conclusion; AWESOME!!. To grade my own dish in respect of the first and second night; Tenderloin; as tender as butter being cut with a hot knife, the taste: indescribably. Spare ribs: Tender and sliding of the bone like melting snow. And the taste is as the Tenderloine; indescribably. And last but for sure not the least: the staff. Each and every one of them friendly and handling orders full speed and most important.....with a smile!! IF, we ever come back (from Europe) then I know where my first stop for dinner will be: Steakhouse Baton Rouge, Halifax, Canada.

In downtown Halifax, The Keg Steakhouse, in my opinion is the best. The atmosphere is very relaxing and cozy. In the evening, the restaurant is dimly lit, but bright enough to see clearly. I enjoyed a medium rare sirloin steak, with a caesar salad and a baked potato. The steak was amazing and cooked exactly the way I asked for. As for the rest of the meal; it was delicious. I had the brownie dessert with ice cream, which topped off a great meal. Our server was very friendly and professional, checking on us at the appropriate times. You can't go wrong with The Keg.

Always an amazing experience when we go to the keg. The food is always outstanding as is the service. They've also upgraded their wait list system since the last time I visited which was amazing. There is not much space in the lobby to wait (there is always a wait on weekends so plan for that) so they now take your phone number and you can leave and go to the restruant next door or across the street for a drink, then they text you when your table is almost ready! It made the experience that much better! Can't wait for our next visit!

Visit was on 30 Jan 2019 at 18:30. The restaurant had a good ambiance - well decorated, tables spaced appropriately, etc.. We we greeted and sat within seconds (had a reservation) and meal was very good from appetizer to main meal. Service was excellent. Only issue was with background music being way too loud for that setting and making it quite difficult to have a pleasant conversation at the table. Was constantly needing to repeat or ask for repeat because of noise level. People had to speak so loud to drown out music. Poor selection of music and way too loud.

Came here on 5 January with my wife and a couple friends. The service was excellent. The ambiance is great and even though there were a lot of people there it still felt intimate. The steak was perfect. The crab was tasty. A couple of the sides were a bit bland, but all in all the food was great. We'll be back.

Don't go here often due to parking, but we always make sure to go now and then. The food and staff are always exceptional. The waiter we had was friendly and joking with us whenever he came to check on us or take an order. We both had steaks, which were cooked exactly as asked for, I had the blue cheese crust and rice as a side. The blue cheese crust was very well balanced as blue cheese can be over powering sometimes. All and all, I would always reccomend the Keg as a nice night out, it may be a chain Restaurant but it is run with exceptional quality.

The steaks were good although one was a little more blue rare than med rare. Both twice baked potatoes at the table were burnt. Was seated in an area that seemed separate from the main area (overflow maybe). Wasn't crazy about it. Waitress was attentive and very nice. Overall though I felt this place has seen its day. For the price I'd choose a different steak house next time.

Fish was great and the other meals my family had were good too but, the pizza my son had wasn't very good. I know kids dishes are usually bland but this was extra bland. He only ate the cheese but this kid loves pizza. That's the only reason it gets a 4 star rating. All in all it was a great visit. Awesome staff and a nice atmosphere. Definitely will go again and do reccomend to the people who are reading this.

Garbage! Paid 27.99 for a "14oz" cowboy steak. As a proffesional meat cutter i can deffinitely say it was not as advertised.. It was a 1/4" thick... and was not cowboy cut. Asked for med rare and came well done.. will never go back again.

We have been going to Steak and Stein for nearly 30 yrs, I recall my family eating their often it unfortunate my family today like many others cant afford to eat out anymore! Our meal was 5 stars. The seafood platter was amazing. The lobster was so fresh and tender. The scallops were tasty and the salmon was buttery. Highly recommended.. Our server was extremely helpful with us choose the best meal.

We went to Mcelvie's on the last day of a conference. We had a party of 7 with us including a child. The host was very gracious and shuffled around a table so that we could all be accommodated. The food and the service was excellent and we also got excellent guidance with the wine. The icing on the cake was we got a complimentary bag of bannock bread to take home after our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

It was a quiet night so service was fast. The crab bisque was excellent. The fisherman's platter was equally as well cooked, including the veg. Lack of a hot towel after eating the lobster isnt good. Even swiss chalet offers lemon water. The meal.came with raising bread, which I found an odd pairing for seafood. Little things make this a five star.

McKelvie’s is one of the best upscale seafood restaurants in Halifax, in my opinion. They are in a beautiful building near the Halifax waterfront. The server was attentive and professional and my meal excellent. Prices are reasonable for the location, ambiance and food quality.

Started with the stuffed crab mushrooms..which were delicious and then moved on to the seafood platter which had 1/2lb lobster, digby scallops, shrimps, salmon, and ceasar salad. Also enjoyed a glass of Nova Scotia Ortega wine, which is divine with seafood. The seafood was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The server was helpful with selections and pleasant to deal with.

We are upstairs at CUT. Very good, not great. Service was excellent, the servers were very knowledgeable and very friendly. However, when you are paying top dollar for food, it has to taste and look as such. Food presentation is minimalist and lacks the overall sumptuousness that you would expect from a restaurant offering $60, 70 , 80 steaks (others on the menu are even more expensive than this) plus $11 to $20 sides. The flavour of the food again is very good, not great. The dishes lack that flare that would put them over the top. The dining room is beautiful, service is inspired, however there is just something missing with regards to the meal.... Again, all this is in the context of price point vs. what is being offered. We paid $500 for 4 people (appetizers, 6 drinks altogether, 4 entrees + sides, no dessert or coffee, tax and gratuity included)

Food was fine, nothing extra ordinary. Apparently they don't toast the burger buns which makes it very dense. She got the boil which was decent. Told them it was her birthday and they brought out a Blondie with happy birthday written in it. Unlike pretty much every other restaurant they charged us not only for that but for a refill of soda water. Don't think we will be back anytime soon.

Seafood, creative and classy We have been on a ten day Atlantic Province tour, so, seafood aplenty. This spot is upscale, has great atmosphere and is more creative with how they plate and prepare seafood. And pretty good value considering their full 1.5pound Lobster was cheaper than a very casual seafood shack we were at in PEI the day before. I had the seafood bucket with Lobster, clams, mussels, sausage, potatoes - the portion of shellfish could have been more generous but the flavour more than made up for that. Partner had the Lobster and loved it. Most importantly a place called “Shuck” had better do Oysters well - and they DO IT RIGHT. Several times this trip I was disappointed at how a place plated their Oysters allowing the all-important brine to spill out. This place has a perfect plate on ice (see my pictures) and the waiters are well schooled as shellfish-sommeliers. Great place to celebrate or have a romantic dinner. Most seafood spots are geared towards groups, tourists and can be a little hokey. This place is charming, creative, classy. Nice patio too.

Food was okay but not good value for your money. Avoid the "shuck tower" unless they kick it up a notch. Service was mediocre. First order brought cold tea and cold coffee. I expected more, I, likely, will not return. On a positive note, my friends gave good reviews on the fish and chips.

We were able to reserve the private room for a family lunch after my grandfathers memorial. This was a favourite restaurant of his and I was reminded just how great the Mic Mac Bar and Grill is! The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you receive. The service was fantastic despite the chaos of 30+ people ordering all at once! The steak was one of the best I have had in the East Coast. Highly recommend this establishment!

Such great service and large menu. They are fantastic no matter how busy they get and they get crazy busy every day at lunch. It's always a good idea to phone ahead for reservations. The specials are also almost always the best value every single day. Solid drink menu options as well. There's a reason this place is a long standing staple of Dartmouth.

The food was AMAZING! They made me a delicious Veggie burger dressed like their mushroom swiss burger, but were really considerate about making sure everything was vegetarian still. When our server heard my husband has an egg allergy, she brought out a book of ingredients and checked it for anything he wanted to order. They were awesome! The servings were HUGE and ridiculously well priced. Add to that the cleanliness and overall intimate atmosphere (we were seated by the bar) I mean, it hit all the points. We'll most definitely be going back there, often!

Wow wow wow! I was so super impressed with our supper tonight. The service was so friendly and fast. I LOVED how they worked as a team. It was apparent that this place prides in good service. The washrooms were very clean. Someone was tidying them when we got there and when we left. We went at 4pm to beat the rush because we heard it gets very busy in the evening. The scallops were very fresh and tender. My first time trying fish cakes ever and I was blown away! Perfect texture, loved the green chow chow. My spouse had the bacon and ranch burger and said it was amazing too. I went there years ago and experience and food for great then too.

I can't recommend this place enough. It is busy so you may have to wait a little but the staff is excellent at getting people in and out in a timely manner. The food was fantastic and my steak was cooked perfectly. If you are visiting or live in the area you have to eat here.

Saturday night is busy I suggest you make reservations. We did and we only waited 10 minutes to get a table. Once at our table service was fast drinks came first then we placed our order and everything was delicious. I had AAA Sirloin Medium done 7oz with caesar salad. The cut was so tender and well seasoned. That's our place to go when we want to catch a movie.

We went as a group of five. We all got different meals and also ordered some appetizers and desserts. One of the appetizers was actually returned as it was not cooked and full of grease (cauliflower). Kudos to the waitress/manager for taking this off our bill. When our meals came out, we again ran into some problems. My son's medium rare steak was almost blue rare. It was a bit surprising as the meat is actually served sliced - should have seen the steak was undercooked. My dish came out on a cast iron plate, but there was no sizzling and I could actually grab the handle (warm). The food was warm overall but cold on top. The meals tasted great but there were some problems with everything coming out hot. The desserts were great. Finished on a high note. May go back if I'm looking for ribs, but not going to be my next stop for a night out. Thanks to the waitress for working through this bit of a kitchen train wreck.

Excellent customer service! Tyler was our server and was very friendly and attentive. As soon as our drinks were empty they were refilled without having to ask. We had a small problem and he brought it to the managers attention and made sure we were well taken care of. If there are awards for servers Tyler should get one!

Amazing location in the summer, a cold walk in the winter but worth it. Food, views, and service are all great. They were very accommodating to our fairly large group. Seated and served very quickly with only a tiny mix up with the bills, but with 12 of us there it's not surprising.

It's Halifax so mice are almost expected, but three climbed up the wire of a nearby TV over the hour I was there. I tried the butter chicken thinking it couldn't be that bad, but an entire onion must have been cut up and put in it. It would have been more edible if I was only given the boxes the ingredients came in. Two stars because the live band was pretty good.

This was a nice stop right on the habourfront, it seemed the city was shutdown during the holidays but this place was thankfully open! My family and I stopped in for lunch two times during our visit to Halifax. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, I definitely recommend stopping by! Kids loved the food too!

I have been coming here for almost 40 years. While it lost a bit of its coziness when they renovated a few years ago it still has nice booths you can snuggle into. The decor is British pub themed as is the menu. They have some real comfort food selections including beer-battered fish and chips or bangers and mash or a meat pie. They do the best plate of nachos in the city for sharing with layers of cheese and chips. The bar has domestic and imported beer on tap and a great collection of single malts and other premium spirits. Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth, you have to try the banoffee, a banana and toffee custard pie.

The Arms Public House has a great atmosphere and a wonderful venue. The staff were very helpful, and had loads of personality. Our table enjoyed quite possibly the best nachos in Halifax, along with great fish and chips, and awesome french onion soup.

Not the best. I used to enjoy coming here until they changed their menu to be more traditional British. I'm not sure if they succeeded, but they aren't great for anyone who likes seafood or is a vegetarian. There is basically nothing on the menu now that doesn't include some kind of animal, such as duck or mutton. Or fried in fat from duck. Interesting. If you like traditional English food, you may like it a lot. The service was also slow, and not professional in my opinion. Maybe I'm a traditionalist in this part, but I believe everyone at your dinner party table should be served their food at the same time. Especially if there are just three of you. I've worked in restaurants, this isn't hard to do. I also watched the table across the room be served at completely different times too, and they were also just a small party of 3. I think everyone enjoyed their food when it arrived though. One friend had the Eggs Benedict, one the lobster BLT sandwich, and I had a veggie omelet (great).

Food was awful and overpriced. I got some tacos as an appetizer and they were essentially just filled with lettuce. I also had a lobster roll that was 50% mayo and fries that tasted like the same awful ones you get at a Chinese food restaurant. I would rather eat the lemon than anything actually served to me.

Went to the Auction House for a girls night, about 6 months ago. It was really nice, our waiter was extremely friendly, the bartender even made us some off menu cocktails he made up. It wasn't very busy when we were there, but was just the vibe we were looking for. Great tasting food too. Definitely recommend. Can't wait to go back and get involved in one of the auctions!!

I like the ambience. Seems like a great place to have a few drinks. However, as only a restaurant, it fell a bit short. The fries were uninspired, and the food was all quite salty. We still enjoyed our meal, and will definitely return for drinks some night out, but I think the food could be tweaked a bit. The prices were quite reasonable though, and the shrimp starter was fantastic.

Food is basic, nothing overly creative or super flavourful. The menu is a repeat of most restaurants in Halifax. Prices are what you would expect for the cost of real-estate location. My partner ordered chicken and waffles and it was so greasy with a sad excuse of chicken giblets or fatty parts rather than a fried thigh. My partner sent the order back and was given a different dish but the eggs were overcooked. The server was super apologetic about the experience and gave complementary meals. I was impressed with the service but the food is not good.

Ordered the arctic char and it was wonderful! They source their fish as local as they can and the food tastes great! I sat at the bar and Neil was a terrific bartender. He got creative and made me my very own mocktail of apples and cucumber for a refreshing zing! Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants good quality excellent tasting food.

Delicious food in a delightful atmosphere. On a quick stopover to Halifax, a few people recommended this place to me. I was happy they could accommodate a late dinner request and that the place was still pretty full. The entire experience was first class. Atmosphere is incredible, an old schoolhouse, tastefully updated, but retaining the wood beam charm of a historic building. Cocktail list is original, highlighting local distilleries in the tasty drinks. The wine list is extensive, highlighting Nova Scotia vineyards and their unique varietals. They take the work out of a classic lobster dinner bringing out the best parts of the creature in-shell, but ready to eat. Service was attentive and charming. Would lobster again.

A bit expensive but well worth it. Everything myself and the two others ordered was delicious. Biscuits to start. We also got a complimentary appetizer of salmon croquettas. The desert was tasty too. If I ever go back to Halifax, I would definitely go here again.

I now completely understand why this place has such a high rating! All the staff are trained professionnaly. The plates' presentation is on par. Every detail is taking care of with style. The food is delicious and done exactly how it's suppose to be. A must in halifax! I won't write more because there's already some great written reviews of this place that gives it all the credits it deserves. I have one note: I was surprised that the wine list only had one Riesling.

I came here on a weekend evening with a reservation for 6, and upon arrival we were promptly seated. The waiter came over to introduce himself, and he came back to take our drink orders. I got an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade half iced tea), and it was good. For appetizers, I got the chowder which was tasty and had a lot of seafood in it, and the soup was creamy. For my main, I got the five fish, and the shrimp were amazing with the grilled flavor. The lobster was also delicious, and the fish were average compared to the other two. Scallops had a good grill flavor too. The risotto was too salty, but the risotto was perfectly cooked and chewy. For dessert, the waiter brought us a platter of the available desserts so we could see them, and I got the berry creme brulee which was served in a jar with a bow. There wasn't really a creme brulee top, as it came with a shard of sugar (which I didn't eat), and there were some berries on top of the creme. I came out of the restaurant quite full (though to be fair, I wasn't too hungry before I came here), and it was a very satisfactory meal. The waiter was patient and came to check up on us appropriately, and the experience was great. Good ambiance too!
