It is amongst some of the few Indian restaurants in greater Halifax area. Ambience is decent but the food is really good and can't really complain about the taste. It wasnt difficult to judge looking at the menu that there must me a South Indian Chef running the kitchen orchestra at this restaurant. This is also reflected in their taste. Worth visiting restaurant to satisfy spicy curry cravings.

DO NOT DINE HERE. We just tried to. With reservation it took 1 hour to get appetizers then the main came 30 min later. The dishes for the four of us arrived over a 5min period. The whole time, people kept coming into the restaurant to pickup their take-away orders. We thought maybe we should phone in an order from our table to get the food faster. We arrived at 7pm, started to eat at 8:30pm then the cleaning and bright lights came at 9pm ushering us out. The extremely bright halogen lights over our table were not centred, instead they were directly above my wife and brother's heads making it very uncomfortable. When people (many) would come in for takeaway, cold air would fill the restaurant. THIS IS A TAKE-AWAY....NOT A RESTAURANT.....DO NOT BE FOOLED. Staff are friendly and food is good. Management's abilities are the problem.

I love Indian food. I cook Indian food on a daily basis. The food they serve here is not traditional Indian food. The butter chicken should NOT be called butter chicken, it is the worst I have ever tried in my time. And the naan! This is pita bread. You shouldn’t even be charging 25 cents for this. It’s absolutely horrible.

Absolutely wonderful food. Without doubt the best Indian food in Halifax. It's nice to be at a restaurant where you don't feel pushed into and out of your seat in a rush. In my opinion that's not "slow service" at all but rather a respectful staff who let you socialize and eat your meal in peace. We had no trouble getting service when we wanted it....the staff were appropriately attentive for a restaurant at this price point.

We travelled to Halifax from Fredericton to spend a weekend. We tried the food and it was amazing. Excellent service by Julie. I have been to almost all Indian restaurants in Calgary and Edmonton but Dhaba Express is way ahead of them. So far the best food I had outside India.

My first visit with my husband won't be my last visit. The dishes that were suggested by our server were awesome. We were so impressed with the flavours and freshness. If you like Indian food this is a must try in Bayers Lake Shopping Park.

The food was excellent, but you now have to order rice separately. No more combo plates to choose from anymore, so that's unfortunate. We were seated near the washroom door and the waitress sprayed the table next to us with Windex and the smell wafted over and it was awful. Then people kept forgetting to close the door. Don't sit near the door to the washroom area! The menu shows dairy free, gluten free, and spicy = excellent!

Food was good. I reckon It's a family own business. The environment wasn't that welcoming. Service needs improvement and maybe they can be more welcoming and affectionate to their customers. We didn't feel like welcoming there. After serving food nobody checked with us about the food quality or if everything is good or not.

Dining at Mirchi Tandoor for the second time in four days. The food is absolutely wonderful and the owner/operators were pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and culture surrounding it. Reviews saying it’s slow evidently can’t appreicate the time good food can take or the nature of a small family owned business. One hundred percent worth the wait and we will certainly be back again and again. The garlic naan was supreme!

Baan Thai is easily one of my favourite places in the city for Thai food. As a vegan, they are always ready to omit the fish sauce for you to fit your needs. With that said - when I heard that the owners of Baan Thai opened an Indian establishment next door, I was elated. I am happy (and slightly embarrassed) to say that I spend most of my time between the two over the past few years. Really great food at both places. Highly Recommended.

I decided to try this place inspite of having lots of bad reviews. I didn't have high expectations coming in and probably that helped a bit. The customer service experience was a lot better than I expected. Their prices are decent for the portion you can get. The taste, quality, and authenticity was just alright for me. My table was clean however I do not find it sanitary when I see any cook using their cellphone while cooking. I totally understand why many had given this place a bad review.

Well that was very interesting. We went with eyes open because some reviews read well and others didn't.Now we have been I shall tell you this. Food was great BUT, customer service 0.we entered with 6 people. No welcome just pointed to a table. We were the only ones there at 8pm on a Saturday. We got a glass of water, but that was it. Never offered us any other drinks. As someone else said, staff lap top on table next to us watching movie. Food came and was great, but never offered anything other than water. Never offered desert, tea or coffee. Eventually asked for check. Washrooms tired and dirty. Would I go back or recommend. Sadly No.

Blunt review: Terrible customer service. Immediately asked for order, and we asked a couple of minutes to decide as we were 5 people. The waiter/owner never returned to take the order. We had to go to the counter to place the order. Food was good with okay-ish quantities. We needed extra apoospas we had only two on the table. Upon asking, we weren't even provided with enough apoons. We were still short of 1 spoon, and the waiter never returned to the table. The restaurant was probably understaffed. Calm and pleasant ambience. Wouldn't recommend. Nope.

Honestly this place doesnt even deserve a review. Indian cuisine today is amongst the most popular in the world. Restaurants like these destroy the ranking. For someone who understands Indian food would concur with me. For those who dont, you may as well stay fooled. Cheers!

I has good hope, before going to this place, however turned out to be average Indian restaurant , however the staff was friendly and very welcoming. While the price for the dish that I ordered was also fair... But I would hope if they look into the quality a little bit more, will certainly bring more crowd in. But again its only me.. Take a visit and find out yourself! And let me know if I need to make changes to this, will certainly do

The food are reasonably priced.The lunch buffet had quite a good number of options to select from. The staffs are very hospitable and welcoming. Would have been great if the desks were well spaced and managed.

It's a nice place for a taste close to Indian flavours. I tried onion bhaji ( amazing) and chili Gobi( a little far from Indianised version). Rest service is good. Will surely visit again

I have tried almost all of the items. The service is faster, the price can not be beaten for sure. However, few items were extremely spicy(mouth burning ) for me. I would recommend you to ask the server first if you don't like excessively spicy foods.

I have been there twice; once on a busy Friday night and once on a really quiet midweek night. Both times our food took the same amount of time. The service was quick , knowledgeable, and charming. So 5/5 on that. Keep it up. I think the idea of the vents blowing delicious aroma onto the streets is a brilliant idea. We were drawn to it instantly. Both times I ordered the lamb vindaloo. Both times they didn’t disappoint. However the second time I found the spice level was dropped considerably rendering the dish a little flat. The lamb was melt in your mouth succulent both times. Also tried the korma. It was delicious, maybe a touch too heavy on the cardamom. Gravy to meat ratio is definitely off. Excellent breads. Only decent Indian place in town for now. 4/5 will return again.

Had some delicious food here. Butter chicken was very interesting and flavourful compared to elsewhere. Vindaloo very good too. Service okay, not great. Ambiance great and menu seems extensive. $5 for rice a bit absurd, which is the main reason for not rating higher. Definitely a return type place.

An excellent fine dining Indian restaurant which welcomes many different types of people. If you're unsure of what to order or how to eat it the staff are more than willing to accommodate you. For any of the one chip challengers out there they will make your order as spicy as you want.

I've never been served raw chicken in any restaurant before. We ordered chicken kebabs as a starter and despite the chicken looking undercooked and the pieces being way too chunky to be considered a kebab we went ahead to give it a try, my husband cut it open and it was completely pink on the inside. The worst part of it is when the staff actually justified it saying that the kebab we ordered is supposed to be raw and pink inside?!?!?! ... People can get very sick eating food like that. I am extremely dissatisfied with this restaurant and will not return nor recommend it unless some serious managerial and chef changes happen. Big thumbs down.
