Thida’s Thai is arguably among the best Thai food in Winnipeg. It is a casual place with simple decor and authentic food. The menu has a lot of variety and features many authentic Thai dishes including soups, salads, curries, rice and noodle dishes and more. I love their Pad Thai and Red Curry with Tofu, along with the vegetarian deep fried spring rolls. The food always tastes flavourful and delicious! You can choose your level of spiciness from 1-10. I usually choose a 2 and it is very mild. The prices are cheap and fantastic. The service is fast and friendly even when the restaurant is packed and busy, as it usually is. The appearance of the restaurant is nothing fancy and it is very simple, but don’t let that deter you from eating here. It’s a classic “hole in the wall” place which often have amazing food! Thida’s Thai is amazing and is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Winnipeg.

I love Thai food and this place is a very good place to get it. Some of the best Thai food in the city, hard to find anything better. Owner is such a sweet old lady, service is good. Pick up ordering works good too. If you want your food to be spicy (i like very spicy) then be sure to emphasize it.

First visit to this place and it was totally worth it. Worth the money. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Ambience is not too great as it is an old restaurant but the quality of food was great. Veg Tom yum soup, green Thai curry, chicken curry in lemongrass was just on point, just the pad Thai was a little disappointing but overall a great place for apt amount of spicy food.

Best Thai food in Winnipeg, hands down! This family run restaurant has a concise menu of classic Thai dishes prepared in an authentic way. Take service is quick and prices are very reasonable. You might just forget that you're in Winnipeg at all. The renovations look great too! Spice levels above 5 are hot, 8 and up are not for the faint of heart. The red curry is to die for!

Me and my friend finally went to Magic Thailand for the first time the other week. Unfortunately, it turned out to be closed cause we forgot to check that there were select hours of the day where they are not opened. We came around 4:30pm on a weekday, checked the door and it was locked noticing that it's not open till 5pm. As we started walking away, the owner? unlocked the door and invited us inside. I was happy to see that the appearance inside was a lot nicer than outside as it doesn't look very appealing from the street lol!! I got the Red Curry, my friend got the Pad Thai - we've both had these dishes many times at different Thai places and were satisfied enough with Magic Thailand that I can definitely recommend it to others and consider it a worthwhile restaurant to go back to.

Wow! Eat here. Now. I love Thai food. Winnipeg has a lot of good Thai restaurants, but Magic Thailand stands out. I came here when I was young all the time. I hadn't been in ten years, I've dreamt of the Krab Rangoon and Guava smoothies! Tonight I went back and it was everything that I could have hoped for after ten years of anticipation!! Pad Phet curry is amazing... Sweet and spicy. Just try it all. Truly magic!

So good. The menu is just big enough to give you a sampling of many different types of Thai dishes, but not so big as to overwhelm. The green curry is so balanced, the Tom Yum soup is wonderfully sour, savory and spicy. The laap, a Thai/Laotian salad with meat and vegetables, is a delicious change of pace. Can't miss starters: the papaya salad is a wonderful combination of flavours, but be careful how spicy you order it! The do-it-yourself lettuce wraps are a must for groups of three or more. Iceberg lettuce is used, so they're easy to wrap, and the assortment of fillings all brought on a wonderfully presented platter is amazing. Quick, attentive service even when busy, reasonable prices. An absolute gem.

Having lived in Thailand for 2 decades, I can confidently say this is the most authentic Thai food I have eaten in Winnipeg. The flavours are good. Food is always consistently good. Going there on a very busy night or day can leave you waiting very long for your order. Sometimes the wait is worth while depending on hunger level. Definitely the best Thai restaurant.

Nothing is perfect, otherwise this would be five stars. Parking out back; pleasant, well lighted with big picture windows. Our food was excellent, we had the lunch menu. I'm a big eater, but I was satisfied with just the soup and starter for $10. The menu is large, but not overly so. Everything seems to have a vegetarian option. Definitely recommending Suki Thai to my family.

The most rudest, filthiest and most un professional place i have been to. Me and my girlfriend went there to have dinner and she found a hair in her meal, when i asked them to please change the meal they simply turned on us and said that we planted the hair inside the dish to get free food, we just walked out paying for a meal we never actually ate. Never been humiliated this much in my life, never recommending anyone to go there.

Lovely, quiet. Went early during lunch (just after 11:30a). Great Pad Thai lunch special. Nicely done Crab Rangoons appetizer. Tables for two, as well as for varying group sizes. Nice heritage building setting (second floor with a view of the Village). Authentic flavour, art and drinking cups.

The decor of this place is neat and unexpected, the individuality partitioned booths are a stellar notion. The central water fountain adds a mellow vibe to the place. The menu offers a wide variety of options. Wait staff was friendly. The food was good enough for me to be willing to return and try more items from their menu.

1st Visit.. 4 pm.. Didn't have a clue what, or how much to order.. Our warm welcome was followed by excellent Service with helpful hints from our Server Holly.. One has choices as to spice level.. Everything we tried was fresh, tasty and served hot.. We had 2 appetizers, 2 stirfrys, 1 dessert-- plenty for 2 with leftovers.. Prices are quite reasonable considering the portions.. This is a fairly small restaurant that gets busy quickly.. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy.. Everything spotless.. Definitely returning..

I frequently drove by this place but never set foot inside. After I heard about this Thai place from a couple of coworkers, I had to check it out. Went probably 2 Fridays ago and this place was just packed at supper time. Luckily I was able to get a table for two. First off, I'm usually very picky with my Thai food, but the pad thai with beef was exceptional. They don't ask you for spice level but it was just right. Had the right level of kick but didn't make me want to drink loads of water. Helpful portion as well. Also had the red curry with chicken and also very delicious. Put it over some white rice and its just coconut curry flavour heaven. Overall a great place in the south end of the city. Probably my new favourite Thai restaurant now

We were greeted right away and brought to our table. The waitress came and asked if we needed some time with the menu, we had said yes as it was literally 30 seconds after we sat. She was fine with that but then started to walk away. I had asked if we could order drinks, she said oh sure. We ordered a bottle of wine. When it was brought, about 10 minutes later, she put it on our table and walked away. No would you like to try it, no pouring some for us, she didn't even open the bottle! Fast forward to 30 minutes later she came back for our order. Finally! Our order came dish by dish. We weren't able to enjoy it all together and we had to return one. Note to waitress "don't wear spandex and a belly top".

Good food, reasonable portions nice staff, decent tables and chairs. Summer rolls were tasty and fresh. Thom ka kai soup tasted good but a little sweeter than other places. Mid sized was enough for four small bowls. The chicken and vegetables in the peanut sauce tasted nice. E6 chef's special thick noodles was great. Try it!

We had takeout. The Red Curry has pineapple in it. I'm not terribly a fan of that variation. The rice rolls didn't come with peanut sauce. Odd. The pad Thai was good. It was fine, but I wasn't excited about it. Likely will go elsewhere next time.

We had ordered three different curry dishes, green curry, red curry and panang curry. All three were very similar with slight differences but all very delicious. The panang curry was the creamiest and least spicy, while the other two were more watery and spicy. Downside was we ordered coconut rice off the menu but what they had was rice steamed with coconut bits and we couldnt taste any hint of coconut, not what we were expecting, and they did not serve real coconut rice. We also ordered stuffed chicken wings which I'd prefer other places with less breading.

A very good Thai experience. Located in a stripmall, the average looking restaurant does not reflect what is inside. There is parking on the street in front, parking behind the restaurant and side streets. We had no issues finding parking. The inside is simple and nice. Some lovely images on the walls. We got seated near the door and there was a cold draft that was the only downside of the evening. We had some summer rolls, a medium tom ka soup that was enough for two. The two main dishes we had tasted phenomenal and not greasy. They customized the spiciness for us, the got it exactly right, tangy but still edible. Decent portions and reasonable prices. Really enjoyed the food. I would recommend and will be going back.

Terrific Thai cuisine. Very impressed. Ordered take out for pick up and our large order was ready on time. More than anything the quality of the food was top notch. Rivals the best thai I've ever had. We tried a number of dishes and each bite was delicious. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Well done Kyu Bochi! I ate here for lunch, new ownership, new menu still a good lunch place. The restaurant is pretty small and gets pretty busy for the lunch rush. The staff are very nice and the food is tasty. Prices are very affordable but you may have to wait a bit for your meal. Parking can be an issue and parking across the street on Logan can lead to a dangerous dash across the street as there is no crosswalk.

The food was a bit pricey, but it was worth every dollar after a long shift. Like most of my reviews outside of my neighbourhood about restaurants, price is a huge factor for students looking to eat out on a budget. There are cheaper options nearby. If you're looking for Thai food though, this place has no competitors in the area and I highly recommend a visit for the quality and customer service.

Lunch combo at Tom Yum Thai with Chicken Pad Thai, eggrolls, and Thai Iced tea for $11.50. Various stir-fry, curry, and noodle dishes were available for the Monday lunch special. My lunch could easily have fed two people. The Pad Thai had a great tangy tamarind flavour with mild-medium heat, depending on your spice tolerance. The chunks of chicken breast were perfectly cooked and tender, however the tofu was strangely hard but luckily easy to pick out. Eggrolls were basic but very crunchy. Thai Iced tea was sweet and refreshing and a great option instead of pop. All round a great deal. I hope to come one day for the Wed-Fri lunch buffet. IG #PrimroseDines

The food here has gone SO down hill, we no longer order from the St Vital or Polo Park locations. Every time we've ordered the general thai, the chicken has been so old, hard, dried out and disgusting, it's not edible.It's actually unbelievable that they serve it. If we didn't get it to go each time, I would have gone back to complain. Totally disgusting. Not to mention the cleanliness of their food handling practices seems to be suspect.

Absolutely terrible! Came there and the cashier barely speaks any English. I asked for a to go box and they give me a plate and they don’t understand at all that I want a to go box, I repeatedly tell them and still don’t listen to me. Also found 3 bits of plastic in my food. Food is decent but the service was absolutely terrible. Will not be coming back here.

I always order from there and their cashier is so nice and knows what she's doing. But they have a new cashier now and she can barely speak English. I ordered 6 fried rice and she messed up the order. They gave me the wrong order and corrected them. Then they all started talking in their language looking all angry. I felt horrible. If you want thai express, I recommend you go to the one in portage place. People are nicer and friendly there.

Ordered the Monday Special, Sweet and Sour Stir-fry. Most horrible food i ever tasted. Rice was mushy and the "beef" tasted like dog food (not that i ever tasted dog food, but it did not taste normal) Sauce was a watery brown substance. Also tried overcharging me and laughed when i caught it.

Best restaurant in Winnipeg! If you love homemade, fresh, delicious stir fry, this is the place to go. The staff are so kind and welcoming. They always give such hearty portions that we always have enough for lunch left overs the next day. Feels like a little hidden gem. Also, I'm fully gluten free and I can eat so many good things on their menu. Delicious, our favourite place!

The only place I will go in Winnipeg for Thai food. It’s for sure one of my favourite restaurants! I can’t get enough of the red and green Thai curry, and these dishes are great for sharing with two or three people! If you go with a group, order everything for the table, and don’t order a dish per person, that will be far too much food. The staff are very friendly and are definitely willing to help with ordering, and the kitchen can modify the spiciness of the dishes if necessary. It’s a small place so call ahead if you’re going on Friday or Saturday evening!

I don’t normally review things, but I had to warn people about this place. Their food is bland - in comparison to other Thai Expresses, and they forgot to add the protein. Also, I saw someone drop something on the floor, pick it up, and continue to use it. It’s best to avoid this place!!!

The man at the register took my order then he was inspecting every cent of my money that I paid him with, made me feel like a criminal. He then had to call for someone else cause he doesnt know the Canadian currency. He was then the one to make my order. He got it wrong. Considering he was the one to initially take it... So I ended up waiting for over 15min for my proper food to be made. As I work in the mall, I only have a short lunch break so this gave me very little time I eat. I asked for it to be not spicy at all. He didn't listen. It was such an overall terrible experience that if I wasn't gonna be late for work returning from my break, I would have asked for my money back. One associate ruined it for me. Will not be returning to this location.

Bought the soup with chicken - big bowl with lots of noodles and enough chicken - but as bland as cardboard. The primary appeal of Thai food for me is the flavor, and this had none. This plus a bottle of pop with taxes was $15.

I like the food and I order the same thing each time I go and I pretty much only order from there when I'm at the outlet .. anyway, my rating doesn't so much reflect the food but the behaviour of the owner or manager. The cashier punched in my order incorrectly (different noodle) and when he found out he ordered the cooks to make a new one and save the incorrect one for the cashier so she "can see how she punched it in wrong." The look on her face was terrible to see, she was clearly embarrassed and upset, rightfully so. I mean, it's inappropriate to speak to an employee that way, but to do it in front of me was worse .. Then the cook (I guess pretty scared) forgot to add spice to my food and as he handed it to me started to freak out and grab at it and I just quickly took it and told him not to worry. They are just kids, can't believe they want to work in that kind of setting. I think maybe next time I'll order elsewhere, because that incident did not sit well with me at all.

(Around March 2016) OLD REVIEW: Best Thai Express in the city. The food is always well prepared; they are quick despite being busy and the quality is great. They also give you good portions of chicken and pack the takeout box full. Been to the St. Vital location and the chicken tasted hard/dry and not fresh. Also much less chicken which is disappointing for something around $10.

It’s a hit and miss at this location with the quality and portion of food. Their quality control definitely is poor. I order here regularly since it’s convenient, inexpensive and usually decent. There are days when the veggies are big chunks like a soup, and other days they’re chopped fine. There are days when the meat looks and tastes like overnight leftovers, while other days it’s fresh. Definitely needs work.

This was my first and last time eating at Thai Express in Garden City Mall. The service was deplorable. After spending over $25.00 on 2 meals, I should not have to pay an EXTRA charge for a take-out container for my left overs. I will remember this next time I visit the FOOD COURT. Food was decent. Reconsider your business practices, will not be returning to this location.

This thai location in garden city is bad. I ordered shrimp fried rice and the onion cuts are big as toonie (like seriously in a fried rice???) and it has some cut shrimp tails looked like left overs and they just decided to mix in the rice. Polo park area is good and authentic because they have thai cooks there unlike here some filipinas cooking thai food lol! Will never go back again.

This is hands down our favorite Thai restaurant. We have traveled through Thailand and Shaba Thai is very authentic. (Just a note, one thing we would love to see on the menu is a very popular snack in Thailand - sweet sticky coconut rice with fresh mango... hint, hint 😄) We have several favorite dishes - red curry soup with chicken (which I could literally eat every day for the rest of my life), fried rice with pork, pad siew, pad Thai and more! We order take out regularly, at least once every week or two. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Staff is always friendly and try very hard to provide good service, which they do. Since they’ve taken some holidays this winter I’ve seriously been heartbroken! I can hardly wait till they are back and I can get my Shaba Thai fix!

I have never written a Google review before, so I'm happy to be writing this one as a first! This is my second time ordering from here, and it was again, a wonderful experience. The owner and her staff were so very friendly and happy to see you as you walked in, which is nice to feel when you are a customer. I ordered the green curry with coconut rice, wonton soup, and two bubble teas. The food was fresh, hot, and very flavourful. I especially recommend ordering the coconut rice as it was so flavourful without too much salt or greasy texture as rice can have sometimes. Support local businesses! You will not be disappointed coming here.
