100% DO NOT recommend this place. I currently don't wear glasses and haven't had an eye test for many years so I went in to book an appointment because it was nearby and they accepted my insurance. I was basically told that because I don't already have a prescription that the Dr didn't want to waste his time because I may not need to buy glasses. They then offered to give me a list of places that would give me an eye exam but I was so taken off guard I lied about catching a bus and ran out of there. They don't care about your eye health, only your money :(

I use to enjoy getting my glasses from this place when I was a teenager when I believe their names are Bill an Pat use to work there. Now there is this rude, small, brunette, older lady in her late 40s I'd guess; she is rude and rushes you out. I've been going to them for 10 years and the way this woman is has caused me to go to Lens Crafters. I do not recall her name but she seems to be there often. Bo customer service. I give is 2 stars for the former employees who were amazing and friendly.

This place is fantastic and Sandra is amazing. She is so knowledgeable and kind. We went to get glasses for our 3 year old and it was the best experience. Sandra clearly loves what she does and she excels at it. I would recommend Whitworth Opticians to anyone but especially to parents looking for glasses for kids. The selection is wonderful and the service is top notch.

We reorder my daughter's eye glasses because she has new prescription they charged as around $300 again so i guess it's past her warranty then when we received the new pair supposed to be but my daughter keep bumping on staff (she's only 4 then)and she doesn't want to wear it after over a month i said maybe we should have the glasses check again from a 3rd party the prescription of the doctor is right BUT THE LENSES IS NOT RIGHT!!! then after 2 months she replaced the lenses my husband requested her to check if it's according to the prescription before living the store the lady refuse to do so. We had to go to costco to ask them to check if it''s the right one and they did it for free unfortunately for us the frame seems to be her old frame it broke again a month after our last payment she's charging us another $90 for that again... that to me is malpractice in the profession i'm considering reporting to the association the worst part is we never heard a simple sorry for the mistake on the lenses.

I have been a client of Whitworth Opticians for 18 years. My daughter had an eye turn at age 1 and needed glasses as part of her 'cure'. We were sent to Whitworth Opticians, 'the best in the city' as far as dealing with more difficult cases, and even dealing with infants for glasses. I now have two children who have been under their care for almost 2 decades, as well as myself. Wouldn't consider ever going anywhere else. Customer service and expertise is solid. Especially if you need help with specialties as far as glasses and care, this is the place!

Don't expect value or decent service. Went there with a prescription and found the staff painfully inefficient . After wasting a frustrating 30 minutes here I gave up and had the prescription filled at Walmart in 10 minutes at a tad less than half price.

This is a cool little place for glasses tucked around the side of the Rexall. If it weren't for the sign, you might not even know it was there. When you enter, its bigger than you might think. People are friendly, and good selection of frames.

If I could give the optical here 0 stars I would . Trying to schedule an eye exam is an absolute nightmare . They rarely pick up the phone and when they do they put you on hold ... after 20 minutes on hold I hung up . Tried back later on in the morning and finally got through to someone ... unfortunately their eye exam scheduling system was down so the lady took down my information and said she would call me back in a few minutes ... it's been hours with no call back . I will take my business elsewhere .

My appointment was 2:45 PM and I came in early so that I can finish early but I heard that the doctor will be not be coming until 3:00 and still two person ahead of me so I took my paper and cancelled my appointment.

I arrived and was told to take a seat after waiting 30 I was told sorry the optometrist is running late because he came in late (after I had already waited 30 mins). The optometrist was then very rude and unprofessional. After the eye check I wanted to buy some contact lenses but was told they wouldn't order them untill I made a appointment for a fitting (I have worn these contacts 20 years). They then must order a "trial pair" to see if they work (a couple weeks wait) only then would they order them (another couple weeks wait). I said I'm paying for them and know they work, and need them asap I cannot wait 6 weeks. But they still wouldn't order them. Terrible experience. Will never go there again.

Picked up my daughters glasses, they were clearly crooked and didn’t even sit straight when placed on a flat surface... complete with a bunch of fingerprints on the lenses... I mentioned my concern to the lady working at the time, she told me that she wasn’t the one to be able to fix or re-size the arms and that the only guy who knows how to only works very limited hours most of which my daughter is in school or I am at work... the inconvenience of this all is just stupid. I now know why this place is always empty. *face palm* lesson learned.

Great first experience at Armstrong & Small Eye Care Centre. Reception was friendly and helpful when booking the appointment and upon arrival. All staff were friendly and thorough in explanations behind testing and what to expect, making me feel comfortable through the entire process. Dr. Lepage was welcoming and patient during the eye exam, providing explanations to my questions. I would 100% recommend this business. As an added bonus, they use the Local Frequency App!

Oh my, this should be everyone's first stop for eye care/optometrist. The reception area staff is top notch and truly make you feel welcome and their priority. Dr. Small is treating our 95 yr old mother for dry eye disease and his knowledge, wisdom, research, and care is exemplary. They will do everything that is humanly possible to accommodate you and your eye needs. The clinic significantly altered my opinion of optometrists/eye doctors. There are so many things that I love about this office! I have never seen someone as dedicated and determined as Heather to making sure my lenses fit, were comfortable, affordable and durable. Heather is always professional, compassionate and friendly. She worked within what was comfortable for me and was always transparent about the costs as well as the benefits and cons of each lens that I was interested in. It took me a few appointments because I was god awful hard on my lenses but each appointment Heather was patient and willing to try different lenses until I was satisfied with the results. The staff are also friendly and welcoming, they are on the ball and work like a well oiled machine. I will always come back to this office as it is amazing and I always receive excellent service and I have never had an unpleasant experience. I am a person with a complicated prescription that has been wearing glasses since I was six years old and started with hard lenses in 1970.. so in my life time I have seen many doctors, eye glass fitters and contact lens fitters. (Awnie out did them all). As time went on the hard lenses became unbearable to wear so I switched to soft lenses resulting in not as good vision. Upon dropping in at contact lens services for a check up...Awnie suggested the scleral hard lens. Recalling how uncomfortable my old hard lenses were...I was reluctant to try them. With Heather's assistance...Awnie was patient and persistent to make them work for me....and she succeeded. My vision has improved significantly and with comfort...8 to 10 hours per day. Thank u Awnie and Heather for very good customer satisfaction...

Everything in this office is outdated. Spent 3 hours with the technician. Not only was she uncleanly, (blowing her nose and then attempting to put a contact in my eye) she was unable to fit me properly. At one point she put a second contact in my eye without removing the first one ... After 3 hours I still couldn't read the bottom line and then she had the gull to still try and charge me? Terrible outfit. Take your business elsewhere.

Amazing doctor. I took my mom there for full eye exam and possible cataract surgery. In my mom's scenario, she did not have medical coverage since she was in Canada with visitor visa. Dr. Dornn was very kind and called different specialists for the cost of the surgery while we were waiting. He also explained thoroughly what was going on with one of her eye. I was impressed! I will recommend anybody going to him.

I’ve been a patient of the Transcona Optical Group for many years. Dr. Boroditsky and her staff have always been professional and courteous. I’ve had many glasses and prescription sunglasses made and they are always accurate and comfortable. If there is ever an issue they solve the problem immediately. In my opinion they are the best optometry office in the city and won’t go anywhere else. Give them a try you won’t regret it.

I've been going here all my life, I've seen a few different doctors and am currently seeing Dr. Blackie - who I find very personable and professional (every Doctor I've seen has been great!). The tests they do are extensive and worth it; the imaging test caught a problem with my eyes and I was referred to a specialist ASAP. The staff who help you pick out frames are amazing, they always take the time to help out, the staff are always great at finding the perfect frame for your face shape etc. I wear contacts and love that I can now place an order online - very handy, they were ready for pick up not even two days after I submitted my online order.

Extremely unprofessional. I've gone here twice in the past two years for saftey glasses, the first time they were in for a solid week before they "called" i went down there myself to see what was going on. The second time was just like the first time their selection could be compared to dollarama so i picked the best i could and when they finally came in i put them on only to have the staff memeber snicker at me, mummble her laughs and say i look like Napoleon Dynamite. Not to mention they're very pushy, snappy and ignorant with how long you take to pick a frame, the staff will chat to each other when your waiting for them to finish your paper work or take the frame you want. I work with alot of people who require saftey glasses for heavy duty work if anyone asks me about this place from now on i will immediately refer them to a different store, the 5 star reviews seem a little fishy to be honest.

Their glasses selection is curated very well and honestly the best selection I've seen so far! There are some really unique frames. Normally I would be narrowing it down from one or two pairs that I felt OK with, but here I found I was having a hard time narrowing it down from a good dozen that I was excited about! Apparently they change the store front up pretty often so you can have a new experience if/whenever you need any adjustments. The staff here are what really make it an amazing experience though. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and quirky. The whole place is an experience. It perfectly sums up why you would take a chance on a smaller business. I won't be going anywhere else for my glasses any time soon at least! (Also when I purchased my glasses they gifted me the creepiest little ventriloquist finger puppet, named Stubby (I'm sure you can find it if you Google). It gave me a really good laugh and made the whole experience one that I still haven't forgotten!)

Amazing place. Staff are helpful and friendly. They make glasses a piece of jewelry for your eyes. Ken works his magic making them fit just right. Bonnie is always there to chat along with Dr Jessie. G was the first shop I found my yellow pair and I’ll keep going back. Not your typical eye glass store, so much more relaxed and friendly.

Friendly staff and funky shop - they make a very good initial impression. Staff are attentive and look like cool people that you'd like to hang out with. Be aware that ALL SALES ARE FINAL - this is NOT written anywhere in the shop. My wife went through frame selection, PD measurement and an invoice was written up for her by hand - what a quaint touch! She was directed toward the cashier and, as she walked that way (her mind on her glasses) the sales person said "and all sales are final." My wife didn't hear it. There were certainly no signs posted in the store about this policy. When the glasses didn't work for her they were willing to to change lenses but NO REFUNDS and NO CHANGING THE FRAMES. This poor business decision cost them the patronage of one family of four - I hope that it was worth it to them.

Started at the front desk, the staff is friendly and welcmes you with a huge smile on their faces. They pay attention and take care of their patients continuously since the moment you walk in, until you leave. Doctors are professional, patient and explain everything in detail. I have never had better experience at the optometrist. Definitely best place in Winnipeg. Huge selection of frames etc. And they use modern technology to examine your eyes. Definitely recommend this place.

Staff was knowledgeable and very, very helpful—not “pushy” at all when I browsed their massive eyeglass frame collection. Any question I had during my eye exam was answered, and Dr. Smith was informative & friendly. I will be setting up future appointments for my children to get their eyes “mapped”, as I feel it would set a baseline of reference for the health of their eyes. I had been to the clinic myself a while back and was extremely impressed so when my 84 year old Mom desperately needed an eye exam, I highly recommended See Eye clinic. They eye exam was way more extensive then her previous exam a a different place and Dr. Shannon took a lot of time to listen to my Mother’s present issues. She explained the importance of getting the best quality lens and how camera comes led the way in that field. She was so thorough she even impressed my Mother, who can tend to be quite sceptical. After the exam, another lady whom I wish I had gotten her name, showed her some glasses and had an amazing eye for finding the right style and colour to suit my Mom’s taste. Today we picked up her new glasses and they look amazing. My 84 year old Mom could read a better than a 20/20 level! She is thrilled. I will never go anywhere else and I know my Mom is as well. Do not hesitate to go here! I wish I could give them more than 5 stars for the exceptional care and select.

After reading their webpage and seeing that they did eye glass repair, I stopped in to see if they could adjust the 3 pairs I had ordered online. I had been looking for a place to get a good pair of glasses and figured if this place had good customer service, I would purchase glasses here. Well, what a disappointment. The receptionist was very friendly and that was the only good thing I experienced here. After learning why I was the she said they could absolutely help me and directed me to another lady. This lady from the start did not look very interested in helping me. I told her I had 3 pairs of glasses I needed adjusted. She asked if they were from online and there was a charge. Her tone was very condescending and I felt like it was a waste of her time to help me. I wasnt surprised there would be a fee - they shouldn't have to fix it for free! She asked another lady across the store what the fee was for online glasses. I thought the lady had said $5....but then the lady "helping" me said $35! I said $35?? Each or for all 3 pairs? And she said each....so I again asked, So over $100 to adjust the glasses? I was quite astonished....all I needed was to adjust nose pads and they were going to charge almost the price of a pair of single vision glasses. I told her Wow, no thanks, I'll go somewhere else. I've been to other places and they've charged $20 or they ask for a donation to their charity box. And to be quite honest it was her attitude that really bothered me. Needless to say I will not be supporting their local store and I will just have to go to a larger chain. They will not get my eyeglasses purchase or my families, who prefer to purchase at a store instead of online. Maybe if their customer service was better they wouldn't have lost future business.

To be fair the doctor was good during the examination uses excellent equipment answers questions to keep you informed. However, the product they use are expensive. They will upsell and talk you into buying a product you don’t want. However, you don’t have to accept any product you don’t want either. Stand firm. Know what you want and stand by that. Be prepared to stand firm and you may be annoyed by having to do that as standing firm gets emotional. If they see you do not want to over spend they will use a sales tactic of shaming you by pointing to the “economy” section and they will be polite and subtle but you may feel like you have just been touched inappropriately and insulted because this is an attempt to shame you for being on a budget. The “economy” rack is full of ugly frames deliberately placed there to discourage a purchase from the “economy” rack. In comparison, you can compare the “economy” frames with major brand names not worth mentioning in this review. The price of high profile major brand names will get you a good frame and if your shallow you may derive a boost to your low self worth and you may walk away from a salesperson using car salesman tactics with your dignity but at an exorbitant price for which you shouldn’t have to pay. But that is they’re job as sales people must meet monthly quotas and are paid by commission so they lose sight of your humanity and dehumanization is likelier to occur. Even if they’re not paid by commission why the upsell?When you stand firm on what you want they will assume you have no money and won’t offer you the expensive scratch resistant anti-fog/glare coatings. So you will have to ask for it if you want that. Otherwise you won’t get it. The glasses you pick from the brand name high profile names rack may not be what you get either. They will get you something close to what you tried on but when you get your glasses 8 to 10 days later, you may not notice it but they switched your glasses on you. You can take them back I suppose but you will have to wait another 8 to 10 days and they may make you wait longer for demanding the frames you asked for in the first place. But if you don’t mind the huge inconvenience of waiting another 8 to 10 or more business days and have an old pair you can use then do that, get what you paid for, demand it. I gather this place is for the richest people or people who think they’re rich but they’re ordinary common folk like us who cannot help but delude themselves with an imagination that they’re rich. If your lower middle class with an family income of $120,000.00 or less, you should find some place else to go because to shop with dignity and respect you will need a much higher family income or have insurance coverage to offset the exorbitant cost of seeing properly at this place. Common folk will surely be treated with discrimination while the upper class are most welcome. Classism, Racism, Discrimination, are violations of our birth right our citizenship rights enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, our highest law which all laws, regulations, policies must be consistent with the Charter. Human rights law is our most sacred and highest law and we should be aware of this so that we can be treated with human dignity and respect. That’s what this place needs to know so that they can learn more about providing a humane service to all deserving people no matter their income, race or perceived race, politics and other protected characteristics listed in the Manitoba Human Rights Law, Manitoba’s highest provincial law which all provincial laws must remain consistent.

Not happy with this place at all... Dr. Shumsky gave me the wrong eye prescription. My vision was awful. After calling the front desk, they said I would have to pay AGAIN for another eye test! This was not at all professional. In the end, I went to another /different eye doctor. They said that I actually needed TWO prescriptions, or bi-focals. One for reading and one for driving. The new doctor was baffled as to why Shumsky tried creating a one-off prescription for me... Also, I have to say, that the staff at Blink Eye-Care is poor (to say the least), and they have no computers so their records are a mish-mash in their office. Would NOT recommend.

I got my eye exam and glasses here, all in less than a week. The staff were wonderful to deal with. The glasses were a bit pricy, but the quality is evident.

I went in to try to book an eye exam. The woman there asked me why I wanted an eye exam. I said because it has been almost 2 years and that I would just like a check up. She then asked what my medical condition is that I would want to get checked for. When I said I don't have one she looked at me with a look of disgust. She then went on to ask why my work was sending me if I have no medical condition (never said work sent me), asked why I was wanting an eye exam again, and then said she wasn't sure why I wanted one when I first answered with just getting a late yearly check up. This all started because I came in to ask "how long does an exam take because I want to see if I can get one done during my lunch break". Her answer to that? "it depends on the clients before you". When I asked why their appointments change the length of my exam she said it was because the doctor may not be ready at that time I schedule. Even after explaining that I want to know how long it takes him to look at my eyes she still didn't know what that meant. Yet she kept looking at me and the customer before me like we were idiots. Between seeing how bad they treated the customer before me because she couldn't speak fluent English (African accent), and how badly the lady I had treated me I will never even attempt to make any form of purchases or appointments there. Very incompetent and rude staff.
