Hello prospective A&S clients. I just build our first home with A&S and wanted to share my experiences through pictures with everyone. It has been almost a year and I will share only the most pertinent experiences. Moved into our home in Devonshire Park in April 2018, This water was found coming down from the walls of house into basement and into the garage and into the floor under the laminate in bedroom closet. We have been told this is normal so if you do build with A&S be aware that this common outcome is "normal" If you have your basement finishes be aware it is "normal" for your carpet to be soaked. * UPDATE: April 9th * Builder has connected with me and taken steps to further investigate and attempt to resolve matter in coming months - Stay tuned !!

Very bad customer service employee , specially one named lesli she just give you any excuse to run away from following up with their clients , my windows frame looked cracked sent her picture carelessly she said it just need clucking from any large retail store , i told her this is in the main frame of the window means its manufacturer defect then she arrogantly said that A&S don't warranty those issues go to the window company , and when i asked about there contacts to call them she just ignored my email and never responded. Second issue was the concrete slab of garage starts peeling and the stones and chips started to show up i asked her how come within 3 years of building a new house for over half million dollars the concrete work starts to peel that for sure mean the subcontractors they hire are very low quality jobs , again arrogantly Said A&S don't warranty concrete works. Frankly i will never build a house again with those cheap builder i rather go to Artista or Ginos for better after sale services

We had our house built with them 2 years ago. We came across a leak in the bathtub so we had a repair guy come in and fix it. He had to cut a huge chunk because the fiberglass had rot in it. He said it was damaged during installation from the other side and the patch job wasnt good and became soft and leaking to the main floor. I tried to reach out to the manager at A and S and she told told me sorry not our problem after the 1 year. I will not be recommending them to anyone with that customer service.

Customer service is very poor. I’d give them zero stars but unfortunately that wasn’t an option. People sitting in office sounds like high school dropouts. Person who came here for new home orientation left the whole house smelling like dope.

If this is an indicator of how they treat perspective customers, I can only imagine how poorly they treat customers trying to get warranty issues resolved or receive support for the home.

Liars and thieves. Don’t buy a house or build with them! Do not choose them! Don’t be fooled! During the inspection day (1 and a half year ago)we found lots of problems and still today are not fixed. They just make excuses and delay everything so the 1 year warranty runs out. Customer service is horrible, they never answer the phone, always straight to voicemail. If I could give them less than 1 star I would!

Customer service from A&S has been amazing and they have been very helpful.The workmanship and material used are top class.we already have our 1 year service scheduled for few minor things. Definitely recommend them and will go with them again for our future home.

We're satisfied with the workmanship on our new home. The customer relations in-charge is very helpful and quick in responding to resolved our overhead garage door problem. If you are looking for a new home, I highly recommend the Broadview Home Builders.

Visited a show home to consider purchasing with Broadview. The agent was friendly during the initial part of the meeting. As we walked through the home it became very evident that Broadview charges you for every tiny change -- which is fine, it's to be expected. However, standard features like a flat painted ceiling is an upgrade, the cost of the upgrade is 5x of what it should be, we were quoted nearly $4,500 (rougly) for the entire house. Other builders do not charge for this and it's standard and included in the base price. The default switches and plugs are low end, low quality switches/plugs. Broadview charges $25/outlet/plug (roughly) to change when the actual incremental cost of the plug is $5, nearly $20/plug in labour -- absolutely ridiculous. This is included in other builders default packages at no cost. Come time to negotiate price, the sales person did not inform us of land transfer tax costs, property tax costs, GST, or any other costs associated with the closing of the deal. They will try to pull the wool over your eyes, hide costs and steal from you with ridicliously inflated upgrade costs. Do not purchase a Broadview Home. The quality is low, the base price is low, but the required upgrades are vast and extremely expensive. Expect to spend upwards of $30,000 - $40,000 on the base price to have the home updated to modern standards. Of that $30k-$40k, the actual value of the materials is likely around $10-15k, they are known for ridiculously inflated upgrade costs.

Terrible customer service & customer misguide in the website! 1) I made a price inquiry through their website & no one got back to me even after 2 business days although it says they will reach in 24 HRS. I had to call their customer service & Finally got on touch with Sales Manager & he was not quite helpful one. I felt like he doesn't want do any sales. 2) There was a house plan in their website which drew my attention as its a very simple house which suits my budget. I asked whether I can build that in Aurora North Point as its in the list where they can build houses. He said no then i asked where i can build that house with them. he never got back to me or at least acknowledge my message. Why they post plans in their website if they can't build?

A company or sales persons' true attitude won't be recognized only after you have paid the money. I signed a buying agreement with Lisa Castro just three month ago and now I am sitting in my new house writing this review. The past three months was so busy, the house was nearly finished when we signed the paper, a lot upgrades but also quite a few need to be changed or clarified with the builder, Lisa, as the representative, gave us as much help as we asked, in politeness and mutual respect. During the process, I had some trouble with the bank side but Lisa gave her professional suggestions. I could have avoid the issue if I had listened to her more seriously. We also had an verbal agreement not to raise the impact fee higher than we had estimated a certain amount. But from the builder lawyer's side, he or she refused to lower the fee as the government had charged them. That does hurt the agreement from the buyer's side, a deal is a deal. It is Lisa who kept her promise, found the solution from management and finally gave me back the discrepancy with a check! That is far after we had moved in and all the fees paid ahead. A promise is kept! Lisa is reliable, responsible and I thank her for all the effort she made to fulfill the deal! Now I am looking forward to the company's warranty service. I understand every house would have some defects, only great service makes it perfect.

We were both impressed with the build quality and attention to design and detail that was evident throughout the home such as the smart kitchen lay-out, the built-in walnut window bench with storage, the sharp walnut light fixtures, and the rich exterior touches. We particularly impressed with the abundance of natural light throughout the living area.

It was a long process (started in mid 2016!) but we are ultimately very happy with our custom built home which we took possession at the end of 2017/start 2018. Excellent value for all the features we had in this custom house, and we have so many positive comments on our home. Some post-possession items can take a while to finish up (ie. Exterior or fixups) , which is why we gave 4 stars. All in all, a very flexible custom home builder that gives good value...just gotta be patient.

Discovery built our home in 2016 and we couldn't have picked a better builder. If you guys are looking for a true custom home that is built with quality, then Discovery is the builder for you. They will design and build you your dream home. Other builders (the cookie cutter ones especially) will charge you an arm and a leg to change their designs to your liking. Discovery will do that without any additional charges. Also, you will notice that there is a lot of extras included in their base prices that are not usually include with the other builders like steel beam construction (my basement in a 2200 sqf house doesn't having any vertical posts), higher then normal ceiling heights and many more. Also, don't expect them to do a rushed job. The other guys will build you a house in a few months, these guys will build it over a longer period of time but they will really put the quality and the workmanship into your home. When the time comes to pick your flooring, exterior and interior colours, cabinetry, etc, Discovery will send you to different vendors one area at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. You don't just do everything all in one day and in one place like the other guys. As well, once the foundation is poured and the walls and roof is up, Discovery will give you a set of keys so you can even check on your house after hours to make sure that everything is up to your liking. How awesome is that? Other builders will not do this. If you have a concern, just give them a call and they will address it even after the house is built. They are truly a great builder and if you decide to go with them, you will not have any regrets. Thank you Discovery homes for building our dream home.

We worked with Curtis and Sharayah Moffat of Alair Homes to do an extensive reno of our 20 year old home which included gutting the kitchen and putting in all new cabinets, an island and a much larger window/door unit to the backyard. 3 bathrooms were gutted with all new vanities, fixtures, toilets and tubs. We also added a full wall cabinet and counter unit in the rear entrance/laundry room. In the family room we put in a custom desk & entertainment cabinet and re-did the fireplace. The whole process was very transparent with no surprises and we're very pleased with the finished product. They emphasized the design and selection process up front. They introduced us to designer Lisa Clark who came up with a great concept. Well worth the investment to hire a designer. A small expense in the big picture but it greatly enhanced the final product. The entire design and selections were done up front so we knew exactly what our costs and the schedule would be before signing the build contract. There were only very minor surprises during the build and the schedule was exactly as promised (10 wks). The trades they recommended were top notch with high quality results. Curtis and Sharayah were even pickier than we were so the end result was excellent. No worries about corners being cut. We highly recommend them for any renos or new builds.

He thoroughly documented each issue, taking photos and writing down suggestions and concerns. Warren is very passionate about his job and had lots of helpful advice to share. He took lots of time to explain any issues related to the property and was very patient and professional in answering all of our questions. Warren completed an extensive report outlining every detail following our walk-thru and invited us to call him whenever if any clarification was needed. When issues came up that needed adjustment or changes, he would say, "No problem. I will look after it," and he did. The external finished addition fits perfectly with our original home's design. The inside of the addition has enhanced our living space beautifully. Warren worked well with the designer we had hired in advance and made necessary modifications to our architectural drawings based on both the city' inspectors' standards or as issues requiring modification emerged. We needed to increase our living space to accommodate elderly parents who were moving in with us. We chose to give them our master bedroom and ensuite on the main level and build a second floor addition over the garage. This new addition would become our oasis. It includes a spacious bedroom with an alcove office space, a walk in closet and ensuite. We also combined the two smaller bedrooms on the main floor and made a nice size private sitting room along with space for a much needed mudroom. Including the mudroom in our build allowed us to move the washer and dryer from downstairs to the main floor. We are extremely pleased with the end result. It was a pleasure working with Warren and his team as the project was completed in a timely manner and the workmanship is excellent.

We had a very pleasing experience building with Hilton homes. We received the house key`s almost a month early which was great for us. Almost every house plan we were interested in came from Hilton, they got good people in that department :). Mark (site supervisor) was very pleasant to talk with and allowed us very long walkthroughs which we loved! Once we moved in, Jay was very patient in explaining everything and assured us that we can get his help when ever we need to. The house itself is not perfect (which is expected), there are few issues with the exterior doors and some minor cosmetic deficiencies, however, Jay and his team addressing them one by one. There is also exterior work that will need to wait for the summer including the parking pad, but this is expected in Winnipeg weather. I would suggest them to improve their communication chain since we did found ourselves not sure who we should communicate with and ended up repeating the same thing multiple times. I will try to provide an updated review in a year or so... Overall I would recommend this builder.

Worst experience with Hilton homes. It’s been 10 months and things those are pending are still pending. They don’t revert back your call. Neither they reply to your emails or texts nor they pick up your call. I have been calling them like every month to finish up the work but they have taken us for granted. I have many friends who have built houses with other builders, they are at much happy place than us. I would never recommend Hilton homes as your builder. I am literally sick of them.

We contracted with Hilton Custom Homes in August 2016 and took possession of our new home in April 2017. Immediately after our final walk-thru inspection we made a list of deficient items and they promised to fix. No date was ever given when they would be fixed but our assumption was that it would be less than one and a half years. This builder pushes the limits on basic understandings of timeliness on these types of issues continuously and seems to be getting away with it. We have been over the list of items at least three times and every time it seems like they lost the previous list and we are having to start from scratch. Today is October 24, 2018 and we are still waiting for several items to be fixed. After numerous contacts by phone and email with Hilton’s service department, last week they finally fixed an interior bathroom door that has not closed since we moved into our home one-and-a-half years ago. I even emailed the owner Spencer Curtis directly about the unexplained delays and although he responded courteously and led me to believe the remaining work would get finished, the delays in getting through the list of deficient items is still as slow as always. I have come to understand this company has become adept at starting projects that they are completely incapable of finishing in a timely manner and as a result, customers are left with unfinished maintenance items for years, if they are ever completed. The building contract we signed with Hilton Homes provides for penalties if the customer does not meet obligations in a timely manner, but the builder can seemingly get away with anything including clear failures to live up to contractual agreements and the only recourse for the customer is to take legal action which often may not pass a reasonable cost benefit test. I specifically wrote Mr. Curtis in early 2018 that I was going to give him an opportunity to positively affect the online review that I was planning to post publicly, regarding the performance of his company, because as things had progressed to that point, I would certainly not give him 5 stars. Well, this is my review and I can only surmise that the owners of Hilton Custom Homes don’t really care about their customer reviews. To be more specific I decided to rate Hilton Custom Homes in the following categories: 1. Basic home specs: *** 3 Stars (outrageously priced upgrades) 2. Promised possession date: * 1 Star (4 months late) 3. Communication : ***** 5 Stars (but poor follow up) 4. Overall workmanship: *** 3 Stars (rather low standards) 5. After sales service: * 1 Star (continuous unexplained delays) 6. Overall customer service: ** 2 Stars (understaffed and very busy) Overall rating: ** 2 Stars Summary. We would not contract with Hilton Custom Homes again based on our experience. It is my opinion that a home builder should maintain much higher standards in all aspects of their operation than what we experienced.

Moved in ten months ago. House was incomplete. There was a missing brick outside it's still missing. Stucco and downspouts not done. Grading not finished (I have 2 months to get my deposit for the front yard). Wrong electrical outlet in master bathroom not replace. Powder room door doesn't close. Hilton please respond as I'm not happy and I have tried contacting by email and phone and have been ignored.

We had the pleasure of building a home with Gino's through 2018 in the south end of Winnipeg. From start to finish we had an excellent experience, and the professionalism of the staff was always top notch. During the build there were a few complications (to be expected on construction projects) and each time they were dealt with promptly and professionally. The stand out piece for us during the whole process was the communication between us and Gino's. They were very available, accommodating and willing to communicate at every point in the process. This really gave us the feeling that we were being looked after, and our business was appreciated. The quality of the home and construction methods is great, as one would expect given Gino's reputation in the market place. Timelines were well communicated and accurate through the entire process. Special thanks to Frank, Daniel, Connie, Shelli, Pina and everyone else that made us feel welcome and valued. We love our home and only have great things to say about Gino's and our experience working with them. For anyone that is considering a new build in Winnipeg we highly recommend Gino's - it was a great experience!

I have waited a year to post any review as I wanted to let the experience and house settle before sharing. I felt very looked after until the house arrived... The house came with quite a few problems that were supposed.to be rectified that weren't. The ceilings and walls dont match up properly we had a drywaller come in and tell us that he would have to replace the entire ceiling to fix it. We had holes in the walls for vents that lead to nothing! The walls were painted with im assuming a spray gun that was obviously clogged because our walls have chunks sprayed all over them. our kitchen counters dont match up in the seems and are already peeling away at the seems. All of our exterior doors and some windows were installed improperly. I am beyond disapointed that I have to now renovate a brand new house. After sending photos and emails to star we were told that a refund or rebate for fixing the cracks from settling was what they were willing to do for us....

Harwood Design Builders completed a home addition and kitchen for us in 2017 and it was a wonderful experience! The finished product was well beyond our expectations and the communication and service were exemplary. Over the past two years, we've had basically no issues. For the few little things that have come up, the Harwood team has been extremely helpful and in my opinion goes above and beyond the standard warranty period to ensure satisfaction. There are many renovation horror stories out there, but this isn't one of them. My wife and I highly recommend Wayne and his Harwood team!

There is some advantage to writing a review 15 months after completion of a project. It allows some introspection on the experience and gives time to settle into the new space before evaluating it. We engaged Harwood Design Builders in the spring of 2017 to develop our basement. Laney Stewart, Harwood’s Interior Designer, took our initial concept and developed it into a very functional and attractive space. She was excellent to work with. Construction began in July 2017. We learned very quickly that Harwood is a very well run company with excellent staff. James Friesen, Project Manager, Lui Tavares, Site Manager who did most of the construction, and Devon Buchholts who made sure all supplies were in place and on time. All were delightful to work with and did an excellent job. The sub-trades were also excellent. A special thanks to Lui Tavares for doing such an outstanding job, and being part of our home for nearly three months. Wayne provided detailed, itemized billing every month so that we knew what was being purchased and how it matched to the original budget. His accounting made us feel very comfortable with the costs and progress. The movie title “Build It and They Will Come” is true. Since the lower level (basement) was completed we have had numerous visitors stay with us and had several family events. All have commented on how beautiful, comfortable and functional the space is. We would highly recommend Wayne Sage and Harwood Builders. They made our construction project a pleasure and delivered on beautiful new space.

New home warranty is a joke. Barely anything is covered, you'd be better off having no warranty than going through the headaches Qualico will put you through. There is little to no love or effort put into the building of their homes, they just take the lowest bidder and don't care about the quality of the work. The person who inspects these homes must do it from home on Google Earth because if they actually checked the workmanship, they would see all sorts of mistakes. Very SLOPPY workmanship. Brutal painters, brutal attention detail and to safety standards. There is no effort to do something "good", just "good enough". Trying to get through to a person to get problems resolved is next to impossible. I would not recommend buying a home from Qualico. Learn from my expensive experience and if you choose not to, I truly wish you luck because it's likly that your new home will become a fixer-upper if you go through this outfit. Bad service and as a customer, it is clear that your time is worth nothing to them after they have your money.

It's been over a year that I've had possession on my home, and I'm still waiting on deficiencies to be fixed that were identified when I first moved in. Getting anything done to completion is like pulling teeth once they have your money. Whatever has been done has been done by contractors that are consistently overbooked, so they're hurrying to their next job before your job is even finished. I've had a couple decent contractors coming through, but as always, there's never any guarantee that the work will be completed to your satisfaction. Be careful on the year-end walkthrough - the documents are designed to essentially end the relationship between customer and builder, so good luck trying to find satisfactory resolution to issues once the year-end walkthrough is done. If I had to do it over again, I would instead wait for a home that's one or two years old and all these issues have been taken care of. It'd save some money and lots of headaches.

At the beginning and right up unit possession date customer service was very very good. They listened to every request, gave me early possession and were great to deal with. Issues began during new home owner orientation. Many mistakes were made. Wrong size custom built-ins, every wall in the house had paint defects and still does after 3 re-visits by their painters. Wrong floor plans were framed/dry walled in the basement. Rear stairs to the home are very poorly made of RAW Lumber/Plywood not even coated or pressure treated, that defies logic. They claim they "Expected" everyone to install decks in place of them, How? There is no room. No pathway around garage like the show home had and we were told was included. We have to walk through the garage to get to our parking pad. They failed to install one pot light as per the purchase contract. They didn't install, when I asked for it to be refunded as it was in the contract they refused. Stating that I already saved money on the purchase and they didn't feel the need to pay me for Services they did not supply, but were paid for. Instead threaten to send me a bill for the amount they knocked off the purchase price. Our customer service agent only cared up until the day of possession. In the end it is what it is, lesson learned. They made promises they couldn't keep. And they don't like to communicate to their tradespeople. Our home is beautiful and we are going to love it for a long time we hope, however this was not the experience we were looking for when thinking about making the biggest purchase of our lives.

Do NOT pay them up front... only pay them at time of delivery unless you like to gamble with your money. $65000.00 paid up front for a house that has not been delivered yet (it is now DECEMBER and house was supposed to arrive in JULY, however said house is now UP FOR AUCTION as it was seized by the MB Marshalls office) Read all about it on the BBB website.

I cannot begin to tell you, how little integrity Mini Homes of Manitoba have. I called thje Long Plains RCMP regarding the $7000 plus dollars they owe our company. Anita Munn is such a liar. I have heard every excuse regarding why she has wrote us bad cheques. How they were not her fault and how the bank is sending us the money via EFT. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS! Or get cash up front.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I can offer no stars for this company as they have zero accountability for "jobs" that they have been paid for. This is my friend's dealings with them. "As most know, Ive been Living on Hecla Island for over 4 years and working at the resort, knowing I’m here for the long haul, I knew I wanted a home to call my own. With very few options to buy on the island, I decided to build a “mini” home and have it moved onto the property the resort has where we have our staff housing. The company I work for had a lot that needed to be cleared and they were great to have that done for me at no expense to me. They got it all ready to go for me last spring, all it needed was a home! I hired Mini Homes Of Manitoba (Anita Munn & Darrell Manuliak) in March 2017 to build my home. I paid them in full, $62, 715.00 and it was agreed upon that my house was to be delivered by middle of May (2017). Week after week they delayed my build, telling me the house would be completed the following week. That week would come and go with another excuse as to why the house was delayed. Every week Anita Munn would tell me the house would be done in a few days. Because of the distance between the build, myself and Anita agreed to send pictures and FaceTime the progress of my home. I would receive nothing. By the end of July, when the house was suppose to be delivered, after many delays, the day of delivery, Anita contacted me to say the inspector came in and cut open all the walls and wiring to the house and the house would be delayed another week or 2. At that point, I demanded to see pictures of the house in the state it was in. Again, she could not prove a house even existed. After that, we both agreed to return all the money I paid them in full. She promised week after week that she was going to the bank to complete the wire transfer or get a certified cheque. Each time she would tell me that the transaction was completed and each time it was a lie. This went on for around 6 weeks or so. I hired a lawyer to send out a letter of demand to return the money. They (Anita Munn) and Darrell Manuliak) did not respond. I posted a recommendation very similar to the description I just gave on the Mini homes of Manitoba facebook page. That’s when Anita Munn contacted me telling me to take it down. I told her that it was a factual statement and I was entitled to my opinion and to share it with whoever I choose to. At that point, she said she wanted to make it right with me, they would build me a home in 4 days. She immediately sent photos and videos of an existing home they were building for themselves in Long Plain on the reserve. The house was half done and she said they would finish it off to my specifications and delivery and set it up and wanted the post to come down. I reluctantly agreed and the post came down. Shortly after that conversation, Anita sent out a revised contract, agreeing to have the house delivered to me by September 27th (which gave them 10 days not 4 to complete the house). Since then, there have been many excuses as to why the house was having delays. Communication was good at the beginning and quickly became spars. Each time in speaking with Anita I would ask for pictures, I did get a few eventually, not sure what they were or if they were of the house they were doing for me. Each week there would be excuses as to why there were delays. The main excuse as to why the house was delayed was because they arena the house was being built in needed a bigger door to be cut open to get the house out of the building. After many weeks of delays that finally happened mid November. Anita assured me the house was being delivered to Hecla Island. She did say the house was needing some “finishing touches” but they would complete that when they set things up in Hecla. It is now December and he still is homeless....

This company does not pay their contractors for work that was done. They stopped answering my calls shortly after the work was done and are avoiding me so as to not pay me. Contractors and buyers beware. They will then deny working with you to others. My suggestion, if you do get asked to do work for them, get money up front!
