This one of the most friendly recreation center I've been to. It's a great gym offered at a great price. The swimming pool and sauna and top notch. Decorations and ambiance like nowhere else. Not too many juice heads and I feel safe for myself, wife and our stuff overall at this place. Old Young and everything in between. Seems like a no judgement zone. However, it would be nice for the management to take action against those annoying dead lifters who slam hundreds of pounds almost in a look at me fashion and it literally quakes the whole place. That would be the only take away. And yeah, for J's sake bring on another bench press, that'd be nice

I like OBR and have been taking tennis lessons for awhile. The tennis bubble needs some patches as it leaks when it rains hard. I wish there was bathrooms and water station available in the bubble like Cedarhill. Tennis lessons are so popular and classes are full by 6:10am (registration starts at 6pm) and hope they’ll add more classes. It’s bit disappointing that I have to pay to use shower or a hot tub after tennis and I feel it should be included because if you sign up for a fitness class, you get an access to shower and pool (they might suppose to pay but no one catches it).

Great hours! A day pass should be a day pass! In most facilities in the country if you pay for the day you are given a wrist band to have access to the facility for the day. At Oak Bay Rec the pass is only valid for the duration you are in the building. That’s a scam. Also needs better membership options. There is no monthly recurring membership option like most other Canadian cities. You are forced to purchase a new annual membership every year without the ability to pause your membership.

One of the better pools in greater Vic! Fun swim and family swim most of the day (1-5pm and 630-930pm) on the weekends whereas the others have lessons. Plus they always have music going, open late 1230am, waterslides, fun lifeguards, etc!

I live near this place and have enjoyed some great swims and workouts here. I'm looking forward to seeing what this place will look like after the big changes coming. The staff here are really polite and helpful. I find the prices to be quite reasonable. I've had many great memories here at this pool over the years. I have been in Victoria for over 25 years so I have definitely had many swims with friends and many memories spending my Saturdays or Fridays in the the summer having amazing times. I hope this upcoming makeover will be the beginning of new memories for myself and other people who enjoy this great place!

This is one of the larger pools in Victoria. They offer 25 and 50 meter length swimming plus a kids pool and shadow area for young kids. It's a fun place to go. Sauna, steam room and hot tub are also available. It's in a central location and easy to get to. It is an old facility and showing its age. Parking is limited and there is no family change rooms. No cafeteria or food available

I love crystal pool, and I'd like see money for improvements spent on investing in solar water heating. But other than improving sustainability I think it's just fine as it is at least for my needs. It's an excellent piece of community infrastructure.

We used to meet in a large room at the back. But the skateboarders in the park made it extremely difficult to hear and the last time I was there the air conditioning was on hyperdrive to the point where I had to leave a very interesting talk. We gave up and moved our venue.

My and the Mrs will drive 2 hours from Victoria to hit this place up. That should give you an idea on how impressed we are with the facilities. The slides are enjoyable, and the cold pool is a great contrast to the others in the area. Full wave pool, high board, large sauna and steam room. Can't be beat.

Great facility, it is clean and bright. The pool is great place to spend the afternoon. They have a sauna, steam room and hot tub and a decent sized kids area for the family to splash around. The morning aqua fit classes are always packed and have a bubbly instructor bouncing around teaching them. Worth checking out if your looking for a good local rec centre!!!

This is my happy place. It's where I got to ensure I will have a great sleep, boost my immune system, decrease stress and relax me entirely. Staff are friendly, the pool is clean, hot tub is hot with strong jets and the sauna and steam room are great. I love it here.

A pool lovers dream! Great fitness centre and great classes offered. Love the aquafit! They have a lap pool, a leisure pool (that adults can use too) with a current river, a hottub, steam room, cedar sauna and also a little toddler pool. There are some slides, and some other fun water features. Front desk staff is very friendly.

What a great facility! Plenty of equipment in the gym, and it’s very clean. I’ve heard the pool is fantastic, although I haven’t gotten the chance to use that portion of the facility yet. All the staff are super friendly and it’s always a pleasure to go! Parking is also great, haven’t run into an issue (when I have taken my car) finding a parking spot. Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

This is what we here in Canada call a neighbourhood community house. Not a large facility, the Burnside Gorge Community Centre is a modern concrete building with a green roof that nestles perfectly into the wooded slopes of Cecelia Creek. The washrooms are clean and accessible to those who need a little more room. This facility offers community support for local families through Mommy & Baby gatherings and includes a daycare centre for the really young under five years of age. It has a fine play facility. The community kitchen offers inexpensive lunches for local lonely people. Coffee, Tea and water are available for free all day. There is also a local newspaper to browse. The best thing for someone with my low income is the food "bank." The provision of fresh fruits and vegetables has changed the way I eat. Also there are free sandwiches sometimes that are past the sell-by date and these are awesome. Way out of my price range. The free bread, milk, cheese and yogurts are especially helpful for those on a low budget. There are so many good things about this place, it would take all day to say.

I went there to see a rummage sale for children. There was a ramp from one level to the other which allowed us to use our stroller without difficulty. The bathrooms seem to be clean. There is a concession stand. I did not explore the facility at length but there are various meeting rooms and an ice rink. There is a lot of parking and the facility seems to be fully wheelchair accessible.

I went there for a massage therapy treatment. The M.T. is excellent! I mentioned to the woman at the front desk that this was my first visit to the facility and asked for directions to the M.T. office. She was not the slightest bit friendly or welcoming. I felt totally invisible. I stopped at the front desk to ask a question on my way out and there was a different person at the desk this time. Her mood was just as dismissive as the first woman. What gives? Was this just a bad day? It left me feeling that I never wanted to go back.

I just have to write a review of this wonderful organization. They provide very important and helpful services to differently able people, and they do it with joy, kindness and extreme competence. Our two sons have been receiving support from this organization for many years and once again I have just experienced the joy of calling them and getting prompt friendly service. There are many community organizations in this town who make a real difference in our lives, and thus in the life of the community as a whole and like RIV they work in the background with little notice by the general public. I just want to hold them up for a moment of recognition. Thank you!

Providing me with a Recreational Activity Aid Card enables me to attend a Movie or go Swimming and not have to pay admission for my attendant, as really... they're not going for the pleasure, but to make sure I enjoy the experience! Someone I can hold on to at the swimming pool, where I cannot wear my leg braces. Thanks Recreation Integration! I can now enjoy a few sports just like everyone else! Now if only the pass was valid up at Mount Washington!!!.

Large facility with a big parking lot. The pool, sauna and steam room are great. At the time the staff were polite and very accommodating. The only complaint is the size and shape of the hot tub, which is the shape of a cloverleaf making it very tight for over 12 adults, definitely too small for this size of facility. Definitely time to do an upgrade.

Great place to swim and workout. Also has a library and a cafe that offers sandwiches with gluten free bread

Nice that they have one stop shop for the community rec centers. Commonwealth offers on of the finest pools in Victoria with things for adults, kids and athletes to do. Great gym for exercising you your body with a pretty big auditorium. Library attached gives time to exercise your mind as well. Also enjoy there small cafeteria as it offers lots of healthy items

Their pool is nice, but their administration staff are awful. They wouldn't let me obtain a tax receipt for my 4 year old daughter's swim lessons because her step-mom had registered her. However, when I registered my own daughter next time to make the request for the tax receipt easier, they let my ex cancel the swim lessons off of my account without my permission so they could put it back on their account! I am extremely upset at their hypocritical policies and their lack of empathy when I go in person and nicely explain my situation. They were very rude and condescending. I will not be registering my daughter there again after her upcoming term ends! Gordon Head is much nicer to deal with.
