Incredible place to visit; truly like stepping into another era. Would recommend to both locals and tourists alike. The new admissions and gift shop area is very well done, and allows for a more unencumbered stroll of the castle and grounds. Be aware that there are many flights of stairs. Would not recommend bringing children unless they are passionate about history.

Beautiful. The historical information provided was quite fascinating. Unfortunately, there were a handful of spaces that were not available to view. It would have been nice knowing that, when we got our tickets. All-in-all, definitely worth it. The art and architecture, alone, is fantastic.

Amazing old house. It’s not really a castle in my eyes as I’ve been to real castles in England. I think you need a dungeon and maybe a draw bridge to qualify as a castle. We received a discounted rate as there are some rooms undergoing restoration that we were unable to see into. The woodwork in this home is simply amazing. Especially when you consider it was built over 120 years ago. Long before power tools were available. Takes about an hour to walk through this home. Its very interesting.

This is a very cool castle with plenty of history. It's amazing to go through each room and see how each one had a specific use. The castle is beautiful and easy to get to form most bus routes and tour drop-offs.

This is a very cool place to visit while you are in Victoria. The self-guided tour was surprisingly inexpensive. There is quite a bit of stairs to climb and going down they are pretty narrow. The voulenteers are very nice and knowledgeable about the castles history.

This "castles" history is fairly interesting however poor organization took away from any enjoyment that might have been had. The constant stairs lead to the attraction being completely inaccessible for both the mobility impaired and the odd stroller toting adult. Despite the insistence of the odd staff at being referred to as a museum the only true activity was sign reading meaning that the pamphlets handed out at the beginning of the tour were essentially a preferable alternative to the tour itself. despite the presence of several interesting pieces the inability to learn more about specific pieces meant the knowledge gained was completely limited to the rather lacking signage. This interestingly furnished house is just that large building with a fascinating history with several antiques. a worthwhile visit for anyone who wishes to view admittedly beautiful antiques but by no means the museum it has advertised itself as.

Well I definitely wasn't expecting to see a castle like this in Canada but was truly stunned by the enormity inside and the overall beauty of the castle. Admission was not expensive and there was definitely lots to see inside. I would have preferred a more guided tour but the self-guided nature of this just did the same effect.

If you are old enough to remeber the"home town"theatre, that's very similar to the feeling you get here. Good sound system with clean theaters and washrooms and the staff are very personable. It's a cozy feeling; kind of like reading a book under your covers at night(as a child of course).

Fantastic little cinema, I can't believe this place is not packed every night. It may not be your big suburban silver screen, but it has way more comfort, convenience, and charm. I pick this theatre over others (Tillicum, West Shore) every time.

Older theatre located in the basement of the mall. Sound quality good, 3d pretty good too. If you don't mind the fact it's old it's pretty good.

It's part of the Landmark chain. More of a traditional movie-going experience than you'll find at most theatres these days. The theatre is pretty tired and needs cleaning and maintenance. Some of the seats don't retract and the leg room is tight. If you need a bathroom break and are seated in the middle you'll have to step over everyone's legs. The men's bathroom was small but clean. The snack counter was well run and well stocked.

The prices are better than all the other theaters that show big productions and it has a quaint little hole in the wall charm that is endearing BUT Those damn chairs. If you've experienced only those chairs in movie theaters then you have to be a masochist. If you've had the now industry standard cushy recliners then I wish your body good luck and god speed if you choose to see a movie here. Please. Replace those seats, Landmark. Your Tuesday evenings will explode if you do.

Amazing totem pole near Beacon Hill Park in Victoria. The pole is amazingly tall, and you need to walk several steps back just to get the whole thing in a picture! There's information about the pole in some small plaques near it. A must see if you're near the park!

My family really enjoyed this museum! It gives a great overview of the area from many different perspectives: first nations, settlers, and natural history. The second floor is devoted to the area's natural history and climate change which we all found to be informative and very well presented. The fossils and dinosaur bones were a huge hit with the kids! The third floor has loads of history on the first nations as well as current information on languages and treaties. This is also where you will find exhibits on settlers such as travel, mining, farming, and a life-size old city replica.

Interactive, fun and educational. This museum got the attention of our active 6 year old, and our eye rolling teen. The exhibits are very engaging and you are taken into the time or place it is displaying. We even watched a Charlie Chaplin movie without hesitation. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our luggage in the storage room for a while and, they were so helpful.

My favorite museum in the whole world. Worth every penny. Their featured exhibits are always really interesting. I love the sound room in the natural history sections, and the walls of native languages that you can listen too. The taxidermy is out of this world as well. I have remembered them fondly as a little girl, and as an adult seeing them again was really special. You need several days to see everything!

This museum tells a story with a flow of interactive and very well done displays. I was highly impressed. Also, look for the Easter eggs (not real ones... hidden jokes). We found three but Im betting the were more. You will need about three hours or more here.

This is a wonderful museum. The location is great, right next to the legislature and the historic Empress Hotel. The upper floor contains the best parts of the museum: the First Nations exhibits and the history of BC exhibits. Both are very detailed. The history of BC has large replicas of buildings from past times (see pictures). The natural history portion also had interesting replicas.

Love this museum. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition was really amazing, as is the rest of the museum. I always learn something new when I come here. This is a very enjoyable place to spend a day, and worth it for an annual pass for locals. Imax movies here are incredible too, and I appreciate that they have some blockbusters too.

It's so beautiful here and you can get here by public transit with a little bit of walking. I went there early April 2019, the flowers are not in full bloom yet and the front of the castle is still going through construction. I can imagine how magical it will look with everything in full bloom

Really cool historic site to visit, alot of weddings happen here. There are tons of cool photo opportunities When I was there I didn't even realise this was where some of the X Men scenes were filmed, how cool! There was also a peacock that wandered the premises. The gardens are very well landscaped and there is a nice view of the ocean from out front. Worth checking out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make this the focus of a trip to Victoria.

Epic mini-castle sitting atop phenomenal landscaping, including one of the best Japanese gardens on the island. I'm not sure what people normally do here; I pretended I lived here and wandered around like an aristocrat for a bit. 10/10 would recommend.

The Gate of Harmonious Interest marks the entryway to Canada's oldest Chinatown. Built in 1981 as an effort to preserve the Chinatown heritage. It was modelled after both the gateway of the Dunhuang Caves in China and the gate of Pingshan Hall in China. The roof is covered with golden glazed tiles, and decorated with Chinese supernatural creatures on the corner ridges. The two Chinese verses on the two front side-panels mean "to work together with one mind" and "to help each other to achieve harmony."

A visit to Government House in Victoria should always include time to see the Costume Museum. Lovely display of mostly women's fashions through the years, many belonging to previous Lieutenant Governors or Chatelaines. Also displays of military uniforms and other historical artifacts. Then stop for lunch or tea at the Tea House. Open during the summer, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 - 4:30.

Just fantastic! Takes about 1 hour, it's an amazing way to kill some time downtown. The way they tell the story of Canada's history and overall attention to detail in the story and the dioramas is worth seeing. The scale sawmill was phenomenal, I wish I could see it run.

Such a fun little place. Very enjoyable. We loved all of the interactive displays and the attention to detail in the dioramas. I was fascinated by the miniature lumber mill, and although they cant run the display due to fire regulations, watching the video was really neat. Better than I expected and highly recommended!

Great attention to detail. I enjoyed the information that was played over the PA system as you examined each installation. There are lots of buttons that can be pushed which made it a lot more entertaining for my toddler. In my opinion this is a great activity for a rainy or cold day in Victoria and an activity that can be repeated.

Sheer epicness. If you enjoy history and miniature models, this is a great place to check out. It has scenes from the World Wars, American Civil War, history of Canadian cities, to Native scenes, among others. Even fantasy worlds are covered from classic fairy tales to spaceships. There is a whole section dedicated to the legend of King Arthur. Most of the models have buttons you can press to see changes such as daytime to nighttime, send a miniature train running through the tracks or spinning the propellers of warplanes. Tr hour or so I spent there is well worth it. Photos and videos are encouraged!

A sweet little part of Victoria. It has a little bit of everything. Quick eats, slow eats and a record store too. As well as a performance theater. Definitely a place to check out.

Quite an interesting little spot to visit during the daytime. Almost all of the stores and cafes are pretty much closed by 5:30 pm, though. (Except for the pub there.) People often leave their unwanted belongings in the middle of the square for others to discover and take home with them.

Songhees point is a beautiful lookout area in front of the Delta Victoria hotel and one of the best places that you can watch the sunrise or sunset and see the beautiful lights of Parliament House. I’ve seen lots of people picnic on the highest point and with such a lovely view it’s worth it to take a few moments here to just be. There’s always something to see here from sea planes taking off and sea life ( I think that was a seal I saw gliding in the water). But best of all for my family, this is a very pet friendly place. My fur babies have met so many friends here and being off leash seems to be fine. There are so many doggies that walk this path along he harbor. The only thing to watch out for is a ton of seagull poop!

A shore hugging park along the waterfront of Victoria’s Inner Harbour, Songhees Point Park is a great place to watch the navigation of seaplanes, Coho Ferry, private yachts, sailing boats and Victoria Harbour Ferry boats. The one and half hectare park encompasses the start of the Westsong Walkway, a three kilometer pathway to Esquimalt, at the Johnson Street Bridge. Trees and shrubs shade wonderful places to stop for breaks and to take a photo. At low tides Discovery Rock might be accessible over the rock and mud seafloor. The Delta Victoria Ocean Point Hotel borders the parkland and has many beautiful flower displays. Tuzo Rock is just off shore. And a lovely small sandy beach can be found on the east side of Songhees Point at low tides. Include a stroll up the rocks that form Songhees Point, there is evidences of glacial activity on these granite rocks as well as an unique outdoor art. There are several benches and grassy points along the four hundred meters of paved and concrete footpaths. This is a wonderful park to explore in your neighborhood.

Fun but super tiny. I mean, it's bugs so they don't need a ton of space but it was a little disappointing that it's basically 2 living rooms with of zoo. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Kids had fun. Just not a ton of it because there just wasn't much to see.

Very good place for small kids but I would suggest as a better option the Butterfly museum in Sydney. The place is extremely small, so unless your kid is extremely interested in bugs I would pass this one. What saves the visit is the hyper friendly guides they have there. They let you pet non-venomous scorpions and such.

Your kids will love this place; mine did! Be sure to take the little ones in when they’re more likely to be in a calm state. It’s important to be as quiet and relaxed when handling the crawly creatures. Staff are awesome. Look around for an online coupon if you can.

Give the bug zoo a try! This is a great little hidden gem in downtown Victoria. Lot of fun with kids! When I first went in, I thought the price seemed a little high, but I quickly realized that this is a really well put together experience, rather than just some displays to walk through. There were two different 'guides' giving tours of the creatures while we were in there. The staff were professional, knowledgeable and really good with kids. All in all a great time. You could easily lose an hour or more in there, especially if you have kids with you.

My partner and I went here in the summer and it was absolutely amazing. When you walk in it seems very small but we spent a good 2 hours here learning and looking at all the different insects. We got to hold a praying mantis, scorpion, tarantula, and a hissing cockroach. There was also no pressure for people that didn’t want to hold or get near the insects. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and we both learned a lot. I highly recommend people interested in bugs, children, or school trips to come here. It’s very educational and fun. The gift shop is really cool too! A lot of different things to look at here. Will definitely be coming back!

Don’t miss this teeny tiny Chinatown with its charming skinny alleyways. Well worth a visit. Harry Potter fans will delight at Fan Tan Alley with its Potter style addresses. Walk down Dragon Alley, too. Lots of eateries and grocery stores. We love it here, rain or shine. A photographer’s happy place.

Victoria's Chinatown is a must see when visiting Victoria! It is full of delicious restaurants and cute stores. It is a beautiful street that is easy to walk. You will find many places to explore while walking through Chinatown.

Victoria's Chinatown is Absolutely NOT FAKE! It has, however, been "revitalized" and "renovated" beyond recognition. This has caused rents to skyrocket and most of the original Chinese merchants and restaurants no longer exist. The storefronts are full of trendy, upscale and mostly very pricey shops and restaurants that have nothing to do with Chinatown. I actually saw very few Asian people in the stores or on the streets. If you're looking for a trendy shopping district, with a cute Asian vibe, this is it. If you're looking for a more traditional "Chinatown" go to Vancouver's Chinatown, where you can walk for blocks without hearing English.

The Chinatown in Victoria, British Columbia is the oldest Chinatown in Canada and the second oldest in North America after San Francisco's. It also features Fan Tan Alley which is a tourist destination with many small shops including a barber shop, art gallery, Chinese cafe, apartments and offices. It is the narrowest street in Canada. At its narrowest point it is only 0.9 metres (35 inches) wide. It was designated as a heritage property by the local government in 2001.

We absolutely love Beacon Hill Park and we visit it at least once on our almost yearly trip to Victoria. The Park is always so well looked after. The trees are old and tall and beautiful The flower beds are varied and colorful. The big pond with the fountain is a favourite spot . We picnicked on a park bench. The turtles were sunning themselves on a long log! The ducks were busy and the geese were busy, as usual. We will return next year, of course.

This is probably one of my most favorite places in Victoria. This park is so beautiful and it's truly the most perfect place to spend time with friends, family, your pets or if you just want to take a walk by yourself. The scenery is beautiful and the petting zoo is always a great place to visit as well. I have lived in Victoria for over 25 years and I have to say that this park is one of the places I remember having the most relaxing times and fun times with friends and family. If you're going to visit Victoria, then I absolutely suggest you take the time to visit this beautiful spot. You won't regret it =)

Beacon Hill park is one of the best features of southern Victoria. There are multiple parks for children to play in, including equipment and two water parks. There is a fully staffed petting zoo, where a number of different animals can be touched. There is a big concert hall for outdoor events, there is a putting green, a baseball diamond and a big soccer field. There are a few small mountains and forests, grasslands and many ponds with ducks. You can spend hours exploring.

This park reminds me of the parks in England - very well maintained and lots to see. The park was great to walk through and admire the ponds, animals, and foliage. Went in March and the cherry blossoms were peaking out! It looks to be well used and loved by the locals. The houses surrounding the park on the East side are very cute (one of the historic areas). The park also connects to the waterfront walk, which has fantastic views of the strait.

Amazing green space in the heart of a busy city. The petting zoo is fun for adults and kids alike. There are gorgeous gardens to meander through and a couple playgrounds for the kids to climb around on.

What an enchantingly beautiful park this is! We saw a hummingbird nest! Also, some gentlemen playing a game of cricket. Then, we went down to the beach and watched dogs splash in the water as we bathed in the sun. What a delight!

Beautiful park for an evening stroll with the family. We Loved the fountain and the wildlife, especially the peacocks. Washrooms could have used some maintenance. But the experience was still enjoyable
