Really happy with this location. Visited when they were extremely busy and didn't have to wait long for a table. Menu has good variety options. Food came very quickly and as ordered. Both service and preparation staff dealt with high volume well. Will definitely return.

I love Joey's Only. This location is nothing short of amazing. My waitress was excellent. She exceeded my expectations immensely. It felt like she had a sixth sense and could read my mind when I needed more fried fish (I went on an all you can eat Tuesday). The restaurant was also clean and other staff interactions were positive. I would definitely come to this location again.

Service was very nice and food was great. Very easy to enjoy. Maybe somewhere to hang coats we missed? One piece of fish and chips is nice for a quick lunch. Moved all day so did wear it off! Quiet location miss craft stores that used to be there but find Micheals and the Scrapyard ok. Heartfelt Creations and a great store for 4-H stickers used to be there. Service and food are excellent. :)

Very friendly staff. Good service. Food is good but lobster mac and cheese needs lobster. Mine had none. Sometimes that happens, so I'll be back and give it another chance. [UPDATE] Went back again, brought some friends and family and we were all very disappointed. Appetizer portions were beyond skimpy. We ordered several servings of the overpriced lobster mac and cheese which now comes in a barely half filled tiny bowl with NO LOBSTER at all and maybe 2-3 tiny bits of shrimp that would not even add up to 1 whole shrimp. Joey's should drop the price on this to free, instead they sell it at a ridiculous price. This used to be good with lobster in every bite, now it's a complete disappointment. Fish bites were overcooked and we feel they were actually re-fried. Breaded fish is way over breaded and the actual fish portion inside is smaller than ever. Staff is still pleasant. The restaurant was empty except for us but our waitress did not check in on us after the food was served. Very disappointing. Joey's is expanding which makes us wonder if they are paying for their new locations by dropping quantity and quality.

Just for the Halibut of it all! Went to the Pelican Pier and it was busy but awesome as always! I had the 2 piece Haddock with fries. My appetizer was a bowl of fish chowder. The chowder was good but it could have used more fish/clams in it. A bit thin for a $15 cost. Haddock was $18. Delicious and a nice thin batter that doesn't burden the fish taste. The fries are superb, not mushy. My wife had the Halibut, it is always the top of the food chain delicious! Pure white meat and oh so good but it has gone up a lot in cost, now $32 when I recall it at $18! Oh my. If you are wanting fresh seafood, you gotta go to the Pelican for the Halibut of it all!

Oh My GOLDFISH!! PELICAN PIER does fish right!!!!! The halibut was crisp, light and amazingly tasty. The clam chowder was chocked full of seafood which I chose instead a heaping mound of fries. For dessert the Key Lime Pie was the perfect mix of sweet and tart to finish of this amazing lunch. I am definitely coming back to sample more of taste.if the sea!! Thumbs up!!!

Great little seafood restaurant. Nice selection of fish on the menu and they have great selection of frozen fish for take out. The atmosphere is that of a cozy fish and chips style. If you prefer to cook your own, some of the prepared frozen fish is worth investigating as our experience has been very tasty and satisfying.

This restaurant was quite busy when we got there, so when we were sat there were dirty tables surrounding us throughout 90% of our visit. We ordered 2 appetizers the deep fried oysters and popcorn shrimp. I enjoyed the oysters but the shrimp wasn’t great. We ordered halibut fish and chips to share as our main dish. I enjoyed this, there was a lot of fish and not a ton of breading. The server tried her best during this busy time, she was alone. I found the prices normal - approx $12 for appys and you always pay more for Halibut (it’s worth it in my opinion) I think the main was about $30 ish

Land Locked No More. Walk into Pelican Pier and be whisked away to a little fish and chips joint on the coast. Everything tastes fresh which is no easy feat considering the nearest halibut swims 12 hours away. If you love seafood and think you have to drive to the coast stop here first! Now if only they had a beach...

This place has a really cute atmosphere. It’s decorated like you’re at a pier and there’s lots to look at. The service is very friendly and pretty fast. They also sell seafood for you to take home market style. The food is okay, pretty good for Calgary but nothing compared to coastal seafood restaurants. A bit on the pricey side as well.

This was one of the first places I ate in the city, and it will likely be one of the last. Always a good sign when the restaurant shares floors pace with a seafood market. Make sure you come in to the store, or pay the extra during delivery for the house tartar sauce. It's worth it, trust me.

The best and freshest seafood around at great prices. My husband, from down East, and I have visited many times over the past 15 years. My only issue is the uncomfortable, outdated chairs which are in dire need of replacement. Virtually no padding left on the seats makes for a terribly uncomfortable experience. There are times I decline dining here especially when I want to have a relaxing meal after a long day at the office. If it wasn't for the chairs, I would not hesitate to rate at 5 stars.

My Momma & Poppa & myself used to always get fish and chips with your chowder...every single week for about 5 years!!! Ate at The British Chippy for the first time a few days ago. A little bit pricey but the servings are fair. The fish and chips are both a little bit bland and could definitely use some salt. Other than that, no complaints and very happy with the service. EDIT: I will take your recommendations and try your food again with salt and vinegar. I'll edit my review afterwards and give a rating then.

I absolutely love the food here it is always delicious when i go. However the prices here are extremely overpriced. It costs 3.50 just for gravy as well for coleslaw. Also the portion sizes are always inconsistent. Every time i order an extra order of fries (for almost 6 dollars), its always a different amount. Sometimes the size of what i get with my fish sometimes way more and sometimes none at all. For the price they charge, the consistency is seriously lacking. Im from the east coast and everyday i could get twice the amount for almost half the price.

Visited Good Friday. As expected it was heaving, but as always, the owner and staff were well organised and had everything under control. We didn't have to wait an inconvenient amount of time and our order was taken as we waited. Food arrived not long after we got our drink order and delicious as we expected. Nearest experience to genuine British Fish and Chips you'll find in Calgary.

Good fish but nothing spectacular. Tons of people ordering for pick up which is great but it's detrimental to the people sitting in house as they have to wait much longer. This business would do better just offering takeout as their service is just not great. Probably wouldn't come here again as it's just mediocre.

There are people that outright can not afford this, BC has a great following and its highly recommended. it’s legitimate haha yes I actually witnessed 4 English people walk in at 2 different times to purchase meals. Is the place clean? Yes. Is the food great? Yes. However never again will I bring anyone here until it becomes more realistic

I had a great meal at the British chippy. They definitely have some of the best fried fish in the city. However I found the price to be quite steep as fish and chips cost $18.50 and only came with fish and fries. coleslaw was an extra cost. If you are looking for high quality wild fried fish it is great, but if you don't care you may not find it worth the extra money over joeys.

Overrated place . Visiting from Toronto was looking to try some thing special and thought of fish and chips. I googled and found The British Chippy Ltd and drove almost 25 min to get there because of reviews and some articles. Fish was totally dry and without any texture and oily. Check my picture. Not even closed to fish and chips available in Toronto or what I try in Europe. Price was high. Understand rent and other living cost in Calgary area for fish. But why charge customer for Can of pop(Coke) $2.75 and Tea for one 3.75 ? Overall staff was friendly but definitely not a place for fish and chips.

We love going here for fish and chips! Food is always very good with no complaints. I've read other reviews about too much batter or fish being too small but I've never had that issue. There are options to not have batter too. Service is always good and everyone is smiling. Highly recommend stopping in:)

First time trying it after living in the area for a decade. Really good quality. Big portion. Filling too. Tartar sauce lacked a bit of the tang you expect but otherwise everything was really tasty. I recommend it for dinner.

The halibut and fries are good. But the pan-fried haddock is a joke - they served a piece of fish, literally 4cm x 4cm, and less than 1 cm thick. Honestly, how they were not embarrassed to serve this flimsy sardine-of-a-fish is beyond me. Even the kids' menu items were bigger. Coke was served near the end of the meal, and it was flat. We will not be returning.

A small sit down restaurant with a few tables, also offers takeout, as well as Skip The Dishes (delivery) currently. Lots of fun and quirky decorations to keep your eyes busy. Staff is friendly but service can be a bit slow (they also didn't check if we needed more drinks or anything after we got our food the one time we didn't get takeout/delivery). Food is decent, with no major improvements needed, but slightly over-priced in my personal opinion. Kid friendly, with at least one high chair.

It's a very nice environment, unfortunately we didn't get to experience much of it. We were only asked AFTER they brought us our pints if we were staying for a comedy show-we had no idea about, as we came from the far NW to meet another couple for dinner based on their suggestion. so after they brought us our pints they explained unless we wanted to pay $15/person for a comedy ticket (again, to a show we had no idea about, it looked almost like an improve class) we'd need to leave by 6 ( which was 20 minutes away at that point) It should have been handled differently. guests should have been notified when the menus are brought over, not tricked into making a purchase first.

So homie and friendly. The food was amazing! It tasted like a meal you would make at home. Plus I was impressed by the variety of menu selections. For example I had the haggis and it tasted the way it should. It's just hard to explain. Hot pretzel dipped in cheesy bacon dip was to just die for! I had an overall wonderful experience and I would recommend it to everyone! Definitely coming back.

Great atmosphere and interesting decor make this a place to check out! Stepping into the Dog and Duck is like warping across the pond and back in time. With all the hallmarks of a quaint English pub its sure to feel cozy year round. Set in a small remodeled home the Dog and Duck is charming and interesting. Everywhere you look is something to read or look at. There is even an antique piano! I went on wing night and ordered the maple bacon flavor. The flavor was light but the wings were hot and high quality. I would like to have these again! I also ordered The Butchers Burger with fries. The burger was delicious with fresh ingredients and good seasonings. The fries are standard pub fries, nothing interesting. Our server, who was running the floor by herself on a game night, was amazing. I wish I remembered her name to giver her props, sorry! So, if you're in the area check out The Dog and Duck Public House.

Food is mediocre, incredibly understaffed and over priced. Should’ve known better when on a wing night it was dead. Beer “specials” are $7 a pint for big rock!? That’s regular price at many pubs all over the city. Total dive. Definitely won’t be back. Server really tried her best but she was the only one serving the 6 or 7 tables. Took an hour to get the first set of wings.

The food was honestly awful. Got the shrimp and lobster grilled cheese. It was more of a shrimp salad sandwich. The upgraded mac portion was so paltry you could finish it in a bite. Again, made with processed cheese. The beverage I had was flat. Only good thing from the whole experience was my kind server. Just awful.

Fish was great. Staff was helpful. But feel they should remove the parking space by the sidewalk it's dangerous I almost fell. Wrecked my coat zipper getting out of the car and stepping down onto the sidewalk. Had to get the driver to back out to pick me up. After the meal. Parking is a hassle. Accident waiting to happen. Just that one parking spot nearest to the door.

Amazing food! It’s fresh, definitely not old. Clean place, have very friendly staff. They seem to go out of their way to make you happy and I really love their hospitality. The shrimp are some of the best food I have ever tasted. Same with the mushrooms. Oh and the fries are unlike any fries I've ever had.. so amazingly good! So crunchy and the inside actually tastes and feels like potato. The potato wedges too, I dont normally like potato wedges as they usually taste very starchy and gummy, but the potato wedges here are sooo delicious.. really soft, flavorful potato inside a really light, flavorful breading. The breading is delicious.. nice spice, not bland at all. The biryani is delicious, tastes like home made, they dont skimp out on the ingredients like aromatics..so yummy. So glad we gave this place a try. The gentlemen, Nader, is extremely nice and welcoming, so very kind, polite and considerate. He fussed over my daughter, giving her an extra chicken piece just so she could see if she liked the leg or the wing. Everyone that works here is awesome!! I hope this place stays here for a long time, as it feels like part of my family now. God bless and thank you for your hospitality and delicious food!!! Trust me, I'm a picky eater, this place is worth your money (very fair prices too!)

Ahhhh what can I say. JOEY'S is a staple and so awesome with their special recipe and tar tar. It's honestly my guilty pleasure because it's so darn delicious and high in protein. Crowfoot location is has been here forever and there is a reason for it. Service is excellent, the tables are clean, the staff are friendly and my mouth is watering just writing the review - I will be there tomorrow for sure. Great location and ample free parking.

We ordered takeout from Joeys as we had family staying from out of town. The fries were ok as it was takeout, but we also ordered sides and our calamari were nice, the coconut shrimp was delicious and the deep fried pickles were awesome. But the fish was stellar. We have not ordered or dined at Joeys in awhile and I forgot how delicious their fish was. The best part was my nine year old eating her fish and asking for more. Thank you for doing a great job.

Probably one of the better fish and chips shops in the city. Most bars have the dish on their menus but they fall short of getting it right. Lots of other seafood items on the menu here too. Tried the spicy cod and shrimp tempura like starters and they we're good. They have a good sized kids menu too. Service was really good with friendly staff. Venue is a decent size. At full capacity I can probably hold around 50 people. Food is a little on the pricey side but I would go again

You're going to a seafood chain restaurant in Alberta, so don't have great expectations about what you're going to get. That being said, we had a pretty good visit here. The food was decent and came out really fast. We also had a really great server. Prices are good and they offer daily specials too.

Ordered through skip the dishes. I was impressed with the speed the resturaunt had everything made and on it's way! However when It arrived we were missing half our order! We called the resturaunt and told a waitress we were missing some food. Instead of getting a manager or even saying sorry let me check with the kitchen she screamed into the phone and at the kitchen "did we forget some food from the last skip order!". Not even remotely professional. Then offered me a discount the next time we came in to the resturant. I offered to come in and pick up what was missing and assured she me it would be ready in less than 10 minutes. Once I got there I waited patiently for the waitress to grab the food from the kitchen. I was given an extra side of fries and a chocolate chip cookie for my troubles and the offer of a discount apparently had fallen through. Very disappointed with the service.

GO TO THE ONE IN CROWFOOT... AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! This place is a nightmare. I am not racist but the Asians that work this place messed up my bill four times.... There was never anything offered to come back for all the time I spent waiting after my friends left. Even after they corrected the order they undercharged less then a dollar and as I was getting ready to leave came running after me for it.... I am absolutely mind blown. The fish was okay but the portions compared to stay you very at crowfoot where I usually dine are very very small. The chicken strips are hard as a rock and I was being courteous by not asking them to be removed.. this experience ruined a 140$ night... I don't think I would ever spend my hard earned money there again!

They recently went under new management and have improved even above the 9/10 they were before. It is well worth going on thursdays for the all you can eat fish tacos! Great atmosphere and wonderful food. One of our favorite date spots!!! 11/10!

Ah, Joey's. Nothing and no one else quite does fish and chips the way you do. So crispy and not overtly greasy or overdone, like so many other places that claim to be the best. Especially if you have a desire to stuff your face silly with all you can eat fish and chips Tuesdays. To make things even better, they now do taco Thursday's as well. Definitely a place for big eaters that enjoy a good fried fish without having to break the bank. I've been here for years and will keep going for many years after.

Ordered dinner for two for take out and a piece of NY cheesecake with one order of coconut shrimp. the fish was good and the shrimp was nice as well. No lemon wedges to enjoy my fish with and only two packs of tartar sauce with four pieces of fish. ( not a lot of sauce in their tartar sauce packs, so with no lemon wedges as well, I was a bit disappointed seeing I had no lemons in my fridge). My piece of NY cheesecake was frozen as hard as a rock and shining with frozen ice crystals when I went to eat it. No whipping cream or any sauce with the frozen piece of cheesecake. Very unhappy for a $60.00 take out order. Maybe a better experience if I ate the restaurant but don't think I will anytime soon.

I regularly visit them from Haskayne School of Business for lunch. In my group of friends, this place is famous for fish and fries. I always order haddock and cod with potato fries. Their food is always hot and fresh. The fish is non-spicy, so it is great for kids too. The average cost is $18/person without drinks and desserts. I hope this information helps the reader.

I couldn't resist going in and checking this place out. Of course I got the halibut - if you are going to a place called "Halibut house" you really should get the halibut. It was pretty darn good - I really enjoyed the fish, nice and crispy, cooked well - fresh and fast! If you are in the mood for a classic fish 'n chips - this is the perfect spot.

The fish and chips I had (cod and halibut) were very different than what the previous reviews suggested. Maybe it was an off-day. The fish was thin and soggy and covered in very oily batter. I ended up eating only half of what I ordered. The gentleman, working by himself, was very friendly. In reading the reviews, I must give it another try.

Have only been to a Joey's twice and both time times have been to this location. Pretty clean establishment and food is relatively quick to come out to order. Plenty of choices in the menu, especially when it comes to how your want your shrimp prepared.

This place is a rip off. It used to be amazing. I ordered mini fish tacos and got fish with onions in a stale taco shell. The rest of the food was greasy and was under cooked, they give you a table spoon of coleslaw with your meal. Don’t waste your money.

The portion size for the fish and chips is great! Huge pieces of fish with decent fries. They're exactly what you expect so nothing special. The shrimp looks big but 90% is just the breading. Taste is bland so be sure to use the dipping sauce. The fritters were fluffy, hot, and sweet! Overall not bad in terms of taste but the price is not worth how much you pay. Good for when you're craving something fast.

When I place the order instead if getting in 30-45 minutes it had took them 1 hour 30 minutes and when I had got it was cold and I was trying to feed my kids and it was cold and hard it was so hard I had broke off my tooth and I had told them about it and they where trying to say that I was lying when I was telling the truth and my 3 year old child even had her that the food was cold and hard they did not do anything and the only thing they had said to me was to bring back the food after me paying for it and they even said that I will not get my money back at all so if anyone see this if I where you I will not eat there no more cause they do not know how to talk to the customer's and they customer service is not good and they are very rude and they keep on telling me that is customers are not right and that they think that they are right this is not true cause they had told me thay it would take 30 - 45 minutes and instead it had took them 1 hour and 30 minutes for me to get my order. So there for I will rate them no stars cause there service is getting worse.

This is really just Joey's Urban. Buffalo chicken poutine is still solid, and likely what I will get almost every time I arrive. You have to get blue cheese on that sucker. Service is good, and food is quick. Good lunch drop-in!

I have to start by saying, it's just a bad business desicion to close at 9 on weekends. You have lost a lot of money for these horrible hours. That said they are really good but over priced for portion sizes and definitely skimp on cheese curds and gravy. Otherwise they are a really good restaurant.

My bf and I bought the 1pc fish & chips (haddock) + 1 beef taco and a poutine for our daughter. The haddock was very good, but $15 for each plate was a little excessive...ONLY because it's very small portions and we don't believe it's worth it. The coleslaw was an extra 1.50 for each and it wasn't very good at all. Our daughters "medium" poutine was super tiny and cost $6 ... She's 2 ½ and it still wasn't enough food for her. Also the $5 beef taco was good but small, I could have gotten a better taco from taco bell. I wouldn't recommend it tbh, I'd find a better restaurant for fish and tacos that's worth your money.

Service can be a little slow at peak times, but dang these tacos are worth it. Over the past year or two this place has evolved quite a bit. They make a bunch of different kinds of poutine now, and added those fluffy Asian taco buns in addition to the flour and corn tortillas they normally have. They also use environmentally friendly packaging (no straws) and have beer on tap for dine-in guests. The staff has been very friendly and overall we find Streats is a great place for a casual family dinner... I mean, who doesn’t like tacos?!

Great venue for small scale live music events! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and there's a ton of nearby street parking. Prices are reasonable, but I don't know that I'd recommend the nachos...

Staff was friendly and did their jobs well. I had the steak sandwich on special, it was thin, slightly overdone, and not very well presented. Small portion of fries. I feel the sandwich would have been better with the extra toppings but they are $3 each and it is $15 (I think) regular price. $8 on special. For an $8 sandwich it was good, but not worth full price. I went to see live bands and they were excellent. Good acoustics and sound management. I recommend for music and shows, not for the steak sandwich. My friend got the nachos, they were awesome and well worth the price. Lots of toppings (beef, chicken, guacamole is extra)

This place is the real deal if you are looking for an authentic Halifax donair. Generous portions on all sizes, not using bought meat like the other east coast place in the city. Sauce was perfect and everything was just like it is in Halifax. Highly recommend this place if you want an authentic pizza corner experience in Calgary. Also a great place to sit and enjoy lunch with some maritime beer selections! Cheers!

Being from the east coast , I can say this is the only place in Alberta that I will get fish and chips from! Not to mention the poutine and pizza is awesome too! The beer is always really fresh and the live music on Friday and Saturday evening makes for a nice night out with friends and family in a cozy maritime setting. Shrimp Toast

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this restaurant is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. My husband brought me here for a date. Immediately, we were seated and enjoyed impeccable service throughout the night. Despite training two new hires, our server Jay never failed to make himself available. We split the white plate special appetizer of pork belly and scallops, which was phenomenal. My husband had the land and sea white plate special while I had the 1.5lbs lobster. Both were beautifully plated and tasted superb. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The sauces on both the appetizer and my husband's main were sweet and savory, and paired perfectly. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It is easily one of the best restaurants in the city, seafood or otherwise. We will absolutely return; this is our new date night favorite.

Went there on a Saturday afternoon; not at all busy. It's the only place I can think of that has oysters all the time , and their Saturday special with 6 oysters and a drink for $15-16(?) Is a good deal. If you're looking for non alcoholic drink, the server suggested their iced tea who's secret recipe comes from, " a 2000 year old lady that works in the back". Well, after that pitch, I just had to order and it was delicious and fresh. Oysters came out clean and tastey. There's plenty of different sauces served with it; my favourite is still the " White Boy sauce" (if you find out the back story to that name it's quite hilarious). We also shared the smoked trout and the mussels; our server kindly split the mussels into two different types of sauces and served in separate dishes (we couldn't make up our mind between the tomato and the curry... I still think the tomato is the better one of the two, but that's only because I like my curries with a kick, and they have a milder curry sauce). I could have had double the amount of the smoked trout, it was good. Overall, can't go wrong with Rodney's for seafood.

I lived on the east coast and the fish and chips at Rodney's can compete with the best. Also. The staff are super friendly. There aren't many seats inside so get there early or take your food to go!

Love this place! The staff are fun and informative and the food is incredible. We always get the cold smoked salmon plate - oh em Gee - and plates of oysters. Now I need to go back! The atmosphere is clean and fun. Used to be more fun in the bathroom when the mirror wall between the bathrooms was open but now it’s walled up.

Food was good, service was very good. Prices are on the higher side. I guess that could be expected for seafood. Even then the ratio of price and quality wasn’t quite there. It was priced a bit high but seafood was just not at the exceptional level I would have expected. Worth a try if one wants to try some oysters and seafood.

Great food doesn't make up for poor service. Too many servers coming to the table, one of which dug around in one of our oysters with her fingers because she thought something was in it. Pretty unhygienic and nothing was done about this when mentioned. Was constantly wrong food coming to our table as we had 6 different people serve us. Used to work in the industry for 5 years thought they had a weird set up going on. Food is very good though and large portions, just expected more for the price.

Delightful evening, wonderful restaurant. The decor is lovely. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, which made it enjoyable.. The oysters were impeccable, with phenomenal pairing sauces - top picks by our waitstaff - however the white wine steamed mussels weren’t very flavourful. Wouldn’t recommend. Second time here and never disappointed by the oysters. Thank you for the creme brûlée I was craving !!!

Great spot for oysters in Calgary. We did the oyster 101 class with Rob and it was really fun and informative. One of the nicest buildings in Calgary as well. Check it out even if you don't like seafood.
