A friend took me here for lunch, we had dumplings, steamed pea stalks, and noodles. It was delicious, and we had very good service. The inside looks like it had been renovated not very long ago, it was a nice and the food was really good. It was also a quick option for lunch during the work day. I would definitely go again.

I've been looking for a place to take me to the weirder side of Chinese cuisine for awhile now and I think I finally found it. This place seems to have a lot of iconic Chinese dishes from many different regions. They also have some western favorites, and a variety of texture and offal dishes. On busy times,this place will prioritize phone in orders over sitting customers. They will give you 1 item right away but have to wait for the rest of your orders for many many minutes while the staff is busy cooking/packing take out! I’ve seen smart customers who will not touch the 1st order that arrives, if no order comes after 10 minutes, they leave!!!!! In fairness, the food is not bad but when you see your order ready but staff is not serving...food getting cold, you don’t come back! #letsguide

I just received an order of sweet and sour pineapple chicken that was completely raw inside. The staff on the phone argued that it could not be raw because it is a deep fried dish. So, the only thing they offered me was a credit for that particular dish, even though it ruined the entire meal for my guests and I. I would not recommend eating here and will never be back.

The food was tasty, and I really appreciated that you could get individual combos. Basically every family-style Chinese food restaurant I've ever been to forces you to order by the dish which is great if you can all agree, but the combos here gave a cancellation for us to just get what we wanted. Very rude delivery drivers. Demand tips and don’t give you change if you pay cash. So if you got a $100 bill—- don’t pay for a $20 meal here—- the driver will drive off with $80 tips and give you no change. If you go to the restaurant to complaint, the lady at the TIL will tell you “she don’t speak English!” You have been worned!

I like their morning and lunch specials that cost between 10 and 15 dollars. Their dinner for two specials are even a better deal for about 50 dollars you get four huge entrees plus soup and rice and dessert and tea. There is enough for four people so be prepared to ask for a doggie bag.

I used to always come here for dimsum over ten years ago before more Chinese restaurants opened in Calgary. After that I didn't go as much. But the dimsum is pretty good. The staff push dimsum out in carts and come around to the tables to see if you want to order it. There is also dinner at night where you can order dishes. The mall it is in is pretty quiet but there is a nice japanese merchansdise store (Megazone) that I always visit after having dimsum there.

You also get to appreciate a different perspective of people watching in Chinatown. I usually order BBQ pork, bowl of steamed rice & a vegetable dish with milk tea drink is enough for me. I hadn't been here in a while and revisited recently. It's as delicious as I remember and it seems nothing has changed in all these years...except the prices. I remember it always being pricier but with so many more dim sum places in Calgary, you'd think the prices would be more competitive. Food is still delicious and the cart system really is fun. I will still make it a point to come here occasionally.

I'm not very experienced with this kind of cuisine. However the variety was amazing! I couldn't even get to a quarter of the dishes and what I tasted was delicious. I can't wait until I can go back and try some of the other foods. The servers were very attentive our tea was never empty and our water glasses always full even though the whole place was packed. I will be going back to discover more tasty things.

Got a 15% gratuity added on to the bill. I usually tip 20-25% so this wasn't a big deal. But it rubbed me wrong. I ended up tipping 20% but I called and spoke to the manager. He explained that they charge this on tables of 4 or more, we were 2. He asked at what time and said he'd look into it. He was very nice and pleasant and said he'd look into it. Portions were small for the $18-$20 per entries and appetizer. Food was okay. We went there because U&ME is closed for renos. $100 later with no drinks, I'm regretting the decision. This seems to be the norm in this economy, but I can't bring myself to eat out at those prices. You've been informed.

My only experience with Yangtze is the lunch/afternoon buffet. The buffet selection is very large. It includes Chinese and western selections. Each time I’ve gone the food has been fresh and decently prepared. The restaurant is spacious with many tables to accommodate the massive lunch rush. Buses even bring people in all afternoon. Parking is good also. The staff are great. My only concern is that Deerfoot city parking lot is sketchy at best, even during the daytime. This location has had pest issues in the past, but they seem to have been resolved.

At first this seemed like a good sized buffet, but many of the items were stale/cold. The chicken curry had a thick skin on the top. Many items are unlabelled which we also didn’t like. Some items were OK. The ginger beef and the chicken balls were the only items I’d say were good. Unfortunately, we didn’t ask the price before we ate. We should have been suspicious by the lack of notices. We were stunned to receive a bill for over $94 for three buffets and three soft drinks. The owner thought it was amusing when we objected to the price. We clearly weren’t the first to do so. This place is nothing short of a rip off. Stay well away.

Really great service and tasty food. Go around 4ish on the weekend to avoid the busy dinner rush. The food is pretty good. They have a really big selection and good variety of desserts. My favorite things were the dumplings and the black bean chicken. A good place overall.

Best bang for your buck! $10 gets you a FULL box of delicious Chinese food. We’ve come here for takeout at many different days and times(Monday night at 8pm for example) If there isn’t fresh food already prepared they will whip some up on the spot. Not at all stingy like most places in the city. Offering us take out bowls for soup, insuring we have sauces and utensils if needed. Cheap without compromising on quality of food or service.

First time I've been to this place, and I went for the supper buffet. The guy working there is top notch. Great service and makes you feel welcome. The buffet is decent, but not authentic Chinese food. If you're looking for something like mall Chinese food, this is the place. Love that they have a order as you go system for stir fry noodles with the buffet. Glad I found this place as I will be back in the future.

There is two sides to this Calgary beauty, 1) family restaurant 2) a crazy place for an after party. If you go here at the time I did it was beautiful. Although this is not a typical “5 star” restaurant I definitely had a 5 star experience. The staff was super sweet and lovely and they have lots of vegan options which is what drew us there. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. It’s also open really late which is brilliant if you’re a night owl like me.

We arrived after the buffet was over (about 10p.m.) and ordered off the menu. The portion sizes are large and the food was tasty, but I have my doubts about the prices for dishes. On average, aside from appetizers, each dish is between $14-18...atmosphere, employee appearance, and average food quality does not justify the price. I would however, like to try the buffet to see if the price is better for what you get.

We've been to the restaurant up top and the basement below for two great evenings. While their prices in the restaurant are on the high side, the food they serve is worth the extra cost. Downstairs they have an open mic comedy night which is a lot of fun, and they're assortment of steamed buns with varied fillings are delicious down there. They're also quite economical.

The service was really good and servers were really friendly however the selection of food could have been better kindof reminded me of cook from frozen. This is my third time eating at China Rose. Growing up in Calgary, we take our ginger beef seriously. China Rose has the best ginger beef hands down. The food is delicious and the staff are so accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the better Chinese Buffets mainly because they don't put MSG in their food. They also have to function rooms which one could use for meetings or other functions. The staff are awesome as are the management who are kids of the founder.

We moved to Calgary 21yrs ago, found Cherry Inn then. Loved it!!!! we couldn't remember its name or location. No cell phones or GPS back then. Searched many times with no luck. FINALLY, fast fwd 21 yrs later, thankfully, we found it again :). They still offer the mouth watering delicious food & services we remembered. The entire family LOVED it. No other restaurant compares. My son doesn't usually like Chinese food, he loved it too. Thanks Cherry Inn for NOT changing, see you next time. Food service industry needs more Cherry Inn's. Just ok. We had ginger beef which was a little too soft and sweet for my taste and the sweet and sour chicken has a lot of fatty bits and brown meat which gave a weird texture. We got delivery. Food was really not good at all. It was not hot at all. Weird chunky mushy breading on the lemon chicken and dry ribs. Lemon chicken had no taste and was all glued together.. which makes me think that breading was not cooked as it was also nearly white in color. Every other Shanghai noodles from other places I have ever had were good and hard to mess up, but this place messed it up. It was over cooked and had a dirty look and taste. What a waste of $65. I was really hungry but barely ate any and wont be eating anymore. I got the feeling that eating this might get me sick because I felt sick eating it and because it was room temperature. Regrets.

They have amazing Hong Kong style breakfast food for a great price. Best to come early when they open because it gets packed starting at 9am and the customer service becomes very poor when busy. They also run out of their porcelain rice pots, as they only make a limited amount for the day. If you need to use the washroom, you have to ask the servers for the password as the washrooms are in the basement and the door to the basement has a keypad. Would recommend due to the value and quality of the food, but customer service is as expected for a busy Chinese restaurant.

Calgary Court is a Taste of Asia Group restaurant. This Hong Kong style cafe offers a wide range of dishes. The service is prompt and the food is consistently good. A great place for a quick and simple meal with excellent menu options. Go there often and have never been disappointed.

After returning to this restaurant for so many years I think it wins the consistency award. Truly Calgary Court is an institution that has been faithfully manned by the same dedicated staff. Both before and after the Calgary flood, and through the booms and busts of this city, this business represents the heart of the community. A Hong Kong Diner style restaurant, customers can find Western breakfast menu items along side traditional Chinese dishes.

Went there on a Friday night at 10am with 7 friends and place was still packed! Took us about 15 minutes to get seated. They offer unlimited free tea. And they have huge portions, good place for sharing! We ended up staying there until 12am past. 😊 Try number 71 for a yummy drink! 😋

This was my first time eating Hong Kong style Chinese food and I must say it tastes quite good. I don't think I could come here often though for what I ordered felt very "heavy". I could only eat at this place once a month at most... Maybe the other dishes won't give off this feeling though? The servers can't speak English very well but well enough to communicate what you want to order. The smoothies were blended with real fruit which is rare at a Chinese restaurant! Would definitely recommend their mango smoothie.

This is perhaps one of the most authentic Chinese places in town. I say it as a non Asian, but the few times I've been there I've been the only person in the restaurant who wasn't Asian. Overall the food is really good, the service is decent. Not a fancy place at all, more like a dinner.

The ginger beef was the winner here, crispy and chewy. Perfect amount of flavourful sauce. Dumplings were a big doughy but still good. Veg is a classic but taste is what I wanted. Shanghai noodles won’t be ordered again, lacking flavour for me.

Came here for lunch as our office just moved across the street. Ordered the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings and my roommate had the Lunch Combination Plate. Food was good and the portions were large. Terrible... We substituted the fried rice for chow mein and received partially cooked noodles drowned in some disgusting sauce that looked like snot. All the meat was dry and the szechuan pork had about 10 pieces alot of slop and over cooked veg. I'm not sure if it was an off day but it was our first and last time ordering from here.

I'm usually not a big fan of Chinese food but this restaurant has a pretty good assortment of Western Asian food. The only thing I would set out to improve would be the labelling of different foods because I found that either the labels just weren't there or they were for the wrong food. Their staff though were really kind and were actively cleaning tables

An excellent Saturday night experience. The house was packed, and parking was very tight. Despite this, we waited less than 5 minutes before a table was made ready for us. Following walk-in parties were also seated just as fast. The food was well prepared and very plentiful (I only took issue with one item). Any empties were immediately refilled in under 5 minutes. The selection was enormous. Everything from fast-food to more complex savory dishes. Offerings of typical favorites, as well as some for more traditional tastes. Service was very attentive and efficient. Frequent visits by servers ensured that any requests were met quickly. Beverages were always immediately refilled, and finished plates gone before my return with the next helpings. I OVER ate very, very well. Our party found this place to be well worth the trip from the other end of the city. D

One star takeaway, as this use to be called "Treasure's of China" not because of renaming, just service and why they were bought out? Treasures was a 10/10.. last time (2014) I went here, still decent service but I can just feel morale went down or something did. Still hot food, still good stuff.. maybe I miss the old name. We live in Vulcan and travel to the Calgary Asian buffet frequently and always enjoy our meal. Yesterday we had the opportunity to go again and were introduced to our server Whitney. This girl is a real joy - cheerful, friendly, and going out of her way to be helpful (showing hubby how to use crab crushers) and made our meal even more enjoyable. Promotion on their website as of February 21st, 2019 states: "Birthday? 50% off* One free drink* *Only for groups of 5 or more people." Our group of 6 went in and showed them this promotion. They gave us the okay after checking the id card. We ate assuming the promotion applies to the entire group as it doesn't state otherwise. After eating, we were given the bill with only one person receiving the discount. After explaining to them what their website states they shrugged it off and said it was clear that it's only for one person. $25 per person isn't steep for a buffet but the fact that the food was horrible made it sting a little more. Needless to say, after years of driving here from the NW, this was definitely the last time..

About a year ago, this was my favourite Chinese restaurant in Calgary, but I think maybe it's changed management or cut costs -- the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The palace style chicken tastes like ketchup, and the ginger chicken tastes like BBQ sauce. Something has gone downhill, and it's pretty disappointing now.

Ordered online through skip the dishes and it was horrible. The chow mein was dry and crunchy in some places and mushy in others like it had been sitting a long time. The sauce that came with the almond chicken had absolutely no flavor it was like some sort of weird jelly gravy. The other dishes were super bland and flavorless and the chicken was under cooked. Called to complain and they said there was no manager on duty (not a big surprise) and offered no apology and referred us to skip the dishes for a refund. Don't order from here unless you have some extra room in your garbage can.

Not a great experience. The fried chicken balls were so doughy I thought I was eating bread. Bad quality ingredients and poor execution - chow mein tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Was also delivered in polystyrene containers, terrible for the environment and the food was cold when it arrive.

Like some others say it's not the best I've ever had but it's definitely above average. It's definitely the best for its price point though out of where I've eaten. Their wonton soup? Simply the best, the only people who could hate it either don't have a tongue or need to get it checked out. I've always ordered won ton soup from here, many times. The ginger beef is alright, chicken fried rice is chicken fried rice (actually quite good, flavorful without adding anything), but their salt and pepper squid/chicken/shrimp is great. Definitely recommend for those who want a salt and pepper dish but want to keep the price reasonable too. Honestly most of the dishes are great, I haven't tried the chow mein in a while which it's sometimes dry - but sriracha saves it easily. Try it yourself and be the judge though, I can only go by my own experience which has been great each time.

BEST DUMPLINGS EVER!!! Homemade, delicious, perfect! Staff is always super friendly and accommodating. I have been going here with my family since I was a little kid. We've had small family gatherings, casual dinners and we've celebrated a handful of milestone birthdays here. This is our go-to place when the craving hits!! This place does not ever disappoint! I would give them more than 5 stars if I could!!

If I could give minus stars...or little black holes I would. I bet these people are not even chinese cause the food sure didn't taste it. The sweet and sour pork felt like little cartilage knuckles, the satay shrimp did not taste like satay nor shrimp and the egg roll.....ugh. Usually better the next day, this rubbish couldn't be saved by a bottle of sriracha. 80 dollars of food tossed instantly into our compost.

Was an excellent eatery for Southern China food in the City. Unfortunately changed ownership ; the manageress was not as helful. Know your waiters and tip them well ; avoid the peak hours (6:30 pm to 8 pm); order off the menu, and ask for waiters suggestions for the day, and you would agree the food often could be good there but services variable.

Had the Ginger Beef as takeout. Nice, crunchy exterior, even after a day in the fridge. There's a deceptively large amount of sauce included at the bottom of the pan. Good overall flavour, actual beef, the meat itself, was probably the mediocre part of the dish. The sauce is tasty, but it no way hot. If tabasco sauce is your limit, you could easily eat this. The heat level is a little bit above pepper. Would I eat it again for $13? Yeah, occasionally, but not on the regular.

Decent prices for the food. Cant say it's my favorite, but I had to try the ginger beef. Supposedly this is the OG place of ginger beef, so of course you gotta try it. The dish was good, but definitely not an authentic Chinese dish. I'll be back for as the portion size is decent for the price.

The place is quite nice and the service is great. The food is creative and well thought out. There was only two issues that made things awkward if anything. One was... when our party of two asked for a 4 people table because we told the server we would be ordering lots of food.... she hesitate and froze. Said nothing until We offered (jokingly) that if it is a problem we can be seated wherever you like. She chose to wedge us with all the other people were instead of spacing out the guests. The Restaurant was EMPTY... it wasn't an availability issue. The second issue was... the food was very salty. Everything was heavily seasoned. The Restaurant had a really nice atmosphere and furnished well... otherwise speaking.

She knew the menu so well, knowing all the components of the dishes as well as the profiles of all the drinks. She came up with so many good suggestions, and really made the experience worthwhile. Food was delicious and well worth the price!! Family and I went on a rather busy evening but the staff still managed to accommodate us, service was fast and reliable. When one of the meals was forgotten (it was VERY busy, so we weren’t worried! It happens to the best of us!) very quick fix and very sincere! I love this place so, so much. The food is so, so good. The drinks are highly, highly over priced. But go. I've been three times, including to the hidden Tea House bar in the basement. The atmosphere is cool, the food is excellent, and honestly, I think it's one of the coolest places in Calgary. We'll only be back for happy hour though because the drinks are just so highly priced it's hard to handle.

Im giving a 4 star review because we ordered an 80$ pick up order on Sunday & did not recieve the discounts they advertise & did not recieve any fortune cookies.. So that was disappointing, but aside from that... the food was all delicious. We ordered chicken fried rice, mixed vegetables in oyster sauce, beef and broccoli, almond sou gai, ginger beef, sweet n sour chicken balls, honey garlic ribs. Probably the best Chinese food we have had in Calgary so far. The whole family enjoyed it including the kids, you dont fill up too fast like regular chinese food and you're not hungry an hr later & my favorite part is we even ate and enjoyed the left overs aside from the chicken balls. First time we ever order chinese food with the sour sauce alrdy on the chicken balls. Next time we will order with the sauce on the side to prevent them from being soggy.

First time we used this restaurant, picked it because it had the highest rating in reviews. The food arrived hot and fresh, veggies were still crispy. The portions were large. Overall great meal, the flavours were exquisite. Definitely a NEW family favourite and worthy of a 5 star rating.
